First foray into HiMD. Even with blanks becoming like hen's teeth, I had to get at least one. I think I need to stop collecting and start saving for an RH1

Great!

Where did you got it?

If you tape concerts you made a deal, it's great and you can upload your recordings to PC.

Edomedo taped Bruce Springsteen in Milano (Italy) in 2008 with this device and I came out a great recording (in PCM mode). This for people who say every MD, regardless the quality of recording, is bad.. lol!

By the way if you are saving for an RH1 you should look at this .. :D

That was the first Hi-MD unit that I bought as well. I love it. It looks awesome, it sounds awesome and it records very well. I've recorded a few local bands around my area with my RH910. I then bought another Hi-MD unit unintentionally on Ebay (I was messing with someone who outbid me and I ended up being the top bidder when the auction ended), but I like that unit as well. It is a MZ-NH900. I've recorded some good stuff with too. I mainly use my Hi-MD units to record and upload and MDLP units to listen and make mixes. I only have 10 Hi-MD blanks and so far that has been plenty. I may end up getting 5 more before the end of the year but I'm in no hurry right now.

I saw that :) I has too many hobbies. It was a fluke I won it. It was a buy it now or best offer. I asked for about 60% of what he was asking and he took it. I have a bunch of reg MD units, so I'm excited to compare it to all my other portables. My NH510 is my main workhorse at the moment, and the S1 if I'm on my bike or working out.

That's cool!

Further inspection:

I sat down and threw a good mix of genres onto the one HiMD disc I have, all at 132Kbps ATRAC3 (or so it says in SonicStage). I forced everything to convert at that rate, just to have a good idea how many albums I could fit on it at a good bitrate (a LOT). Well, I am pretty amazed at the sound, on par with SP mode on some of my other MD players (at least in the normal venues I listen to-car and bike). I like especially the 5 band eq. I haven't recorded with it yet, but I'm sure its going to be a treat.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying an MZ-M100, which seems to be the same thing, and was wondering if it was still compatible with SonicStage 4.2. I'm fairly sure it is compatible, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for reading guys and any replies with be rewarded with E-cookies, and E-milk, lol. Seriously though, thanks guys. I may finally get one, YAY! Waited years for this.

Sorry for the late response! Yes, it's perfectly compatible, although I find it hangs like crazy when I try to load up a 1GB disk to capacity with HiLP bitrate. I use the Hi-MD music transfer on my mac, which works very very well, although there seems to be no provision for forcing ATRAC bitrate.

Mind if I ask what you use to transfer data TO your Mac from the RH910? I only see topics suggesting SonicStage but I would prefer not to install a Windows emulator on my company's Mac. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Just a question, Darren. Can you FORMAT a 1GB disk properly?

I am still trying to figure out what's wrong with my 910, which works perfectly with 80m disks in all formats. Planning to recalibrate it but need a lot of stuff still before I can do that.
