sportster44
Broke the battery door for the internal battery. I can still get the door to seat shut and the unit charges and plays, but I'm wondering if it's possible to repair or replace? Ideas? Guilo
Also broke mine. If you find a piece to replace I am interested
THIS SUCKS
superglue
sportster44
OK, but what am I super gluing? and given the electrical contacts are also in the door, gluing it concerns me and it will never be as strong as new. Got a search going on for RH-10s on ebay for parts, but I'm also wondering what other units use the same door, so that I can look for those as well for a parts donor? Christopher
It would be cool to look through the service manual and identify the actual parts needed..I'll take a look at it later and see if I can find anything. I imagine you would need very specific tools to fix it though, hehe
sportster44
Uh oh. How specific are we talking? fine screwdrivers? or something way worse?
sfbp
What exactly is busted? The plastic is *supposed* to detach from the metal part. That's how you get it open.
sportster44
The door is completed detached from the unit at the hinge where the battery door is supposed swing open.
sfbp
The metal part is detached too, or just the plastic part?
sportster44
No, metal contacts are still attached and working fine. Just the plastic chrome door.
sfbp
Right. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to slide the metal contacts back into the plastic of the door. Takes a bit of patience, but eventually you will see how. This is a necessary step to disassembling this unit. And you have done it by accident Nothing is broken. Trust me. Tom in RI
Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I have an MZ-M100 (same unit). The very 1st thing I did after unwrapping it was to detach the battery cover, evidently much like you did. After a few (maybe 20) minutes I figured out how to reattach. My first panicked thought, though, was I have broken this thing before even getting a chance to use it.
