LA2019
Wow, this is a cool site. I've been using MD since day one. I still have my MZ-1...and it still works! I have several pieces of MD gear but my favorite, and most used, is my Alpine dual DIN CD/MD head unit.
Christopher
Next time I am at my parents house I will snap a picture of my MZ-E7W, NH900, DS8 and whatever else I can find..
LA2019
I also have a Sony PCV-MXS20 desktop with MD. Everything works fine...just don't use it too often. Has a nice case though...
paperclip
Hey, LA2019 Can you tell me what kind of cable that MD drive uses to connect to the motherboard? If Sony made a modern PC like that with a Hi-MD drive I'd be all over it! But since they probably won't I might try to build my own.
walkdude
Hey, LA2019 Can you tell me what kind of cable that MD drive uses to connect to the motherboard? If Sony made a modern PC like that with a Hi-MD drive I'd be all over it! But since they probably won't I might try to build my own. Its most likely a Floppy power cabe, USB internal cable and an internal SPDIF cable to the audio card. that way it behaves like a car stereo MD player with no screen and just an eject button. sfbp
If I was trying to put MD "into a computer" I might start with a Car deck. But that won't get me HiMD, sadly.
LA2019
Here's a picture of the connectors from the MD player to the mother board. Hope this helps...
paperclip
That's mighty kind of you ro post that pic! Looks like that daughter board is a must have unfortunately. Very advanced for it's time in my opinion. I'll probably look for a whole used machine.
LA2019
Here's my MZ-1. I don't use it much but it still works! Heck, it's almost 20 years old....

mmp64
Much to my wife's dismay, I display them randomly around the house like pieces of art. I bought little stands (not pictured) at an art store.

LA2019
Nice, I have some of mine displayed in my computer room. I like it! If people can display their figurines why not your MD players. Looks good....
