xekolla90
Hello everybody. Another newbie to this forum here. i am a student in film studies, and i did a short film for my course, and i used a sony mz rh1 hi md discman to record the sound for the movie. i used a hi md disc and i recorded in PCM mode. the thing is that i do not have access to the discman now and i want to transfer the sounds that i recorded from the hi md disc to my pc in a mp3 or wav format using the sonicstage. So i have to buy a hi-md disc player only because i want to transfer the sound from the discs that i have...my question is do i have to buy the sony MZ RH1 or i can buy another cheaper model so as to do my job? as you can understand i dont want to buy the MZ RH1 because i find it expensive, will i be able to do my job with another sony model? Thank you... Excellent forum by the way.

xekolla90
Recommend MZ-NH700 See here: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...r-/320694945656 Should do you very nicely. thank you for your quick reply. will there be any problem with the quality of the sound if i use the mz nh 700 instead of the mz rh1 for the sound transfer? because it is very important for me to get the best sound quality from the sounds that i recorded... thank you very much.... iam sorry for my silly questions but i dont know anything about mini discs, so, any hi md supported disc will do me the job? will mz nh 800 still do the job? trott3r
Bah about half the price a mzrh1 goes for looks like you got a bargain there Phillipe Martin
sfbp
You pay for what you get... the NH700 will not upload tracks from your JB980, JB940 or JB920, Martin.

You are referring to the upload protection I assume? True enough the MZRH1 is the only one that does unrestricted uploading but since the OP only wanted to upload his own recordings it should work fine. Nice for portable and playback use though. sfbp
You are referring to the upload protection I assume? Nothing to do with any restrictions. Earlier models are simply incapable of uploading legacy MD tracks. The firmware just isn't there. Send the appropriate command (SCSI essentially) and nothing useful happens. Part of this is to do with the rate of transfer. The HiMD uses a standard file system essentially, so there aren't timing problems. The legacy upload (on RH1) just blatts the data out on the USB, and lets SonicStage catch it. My point was that although the '700 will work nicely for OP since he made HiMD recordings, it won't help you (at least with the gear you list in your profile). Ahh, I didnt know the early HiMD models didnt deal with legacy MD recordings. Martin
PhilippeC
I bought this MZ-NH700 because both my MZ-NH900 and my MZ-RH1 are out of order for a confortable listening (buttons and jog level are out of order). I need a remote for that. By hand it is quite difficult to change anything in the menu mode. They still are in order for recording plus uploading. This MZ-NH700 and his accessories look in perfect condition and complete. I dream to buy another MZ-RH1 one day but just for the pleasure to have a beautifull portable unit. Maybe I will send to you my defective Hi-MD units Stephen, next christmas I think. I have also bought a MZ-R55 from netherland recently : MZ-R55 as I was looking for something that hold firmly in place on the table.
