Sony_Fan
Hi. I was just wondering which remote controls are compatible with the MZ-NH600D. This is a downloader unit only and you can't adjust the EQ setting without a remote. Any ideas? Thanks.
sfbp
For some 600D's: None. There's no slot for it, just a 3.5mm stereo jack. For others: the RM-MC38EL works just fine. I just tested it. Incidentally, if it is the LATTER kind (that accepts the remote) there is a fully functional "Sound" entry on the main menu, without using remote. This leads me to suspect perhaps you have the FORMER. In which case, as they say, you're hooped.

I honestly don't know which NH600D i paid for, i didn't know there was 2 kinds.
sfbp
In which case (I presumed, erroneously, that you had failed to find the "Sound" menu) you should be OK. Regardless of remote, there should be access to the equalizer.
Azureal
Not certain, but I think there are two versions but the are NH600D and NH600, the NH600 is the one I have and it has optical and analog recording inputs (no microphone input) and also has the remote slot connector for a number of remotes to control the unit. I think the NH600D was the one commonly available in the North America while the NH600 was available elsewhere, I picked mine up new on eBay a few years ago for next to nothing. People are asking ridiculous prices for them now ... It's a great little unit in either form!
sfbp
I have a 600D with the remote slot connector. I have a 600 with the same PLUS optical/line in. There are, I think, still 2 versions of the 600D.
Azureal
I see what you are saying, there are two versions of the NH600D and at least one known version of the NH600. Are you sure yours is not an NH600 Stephen? (I know the answer, but had to ask ) (sfbp here; hehe yes I really do have a 600, and it has a power connector - see next post. But I was talking about my 600D).
jim.hoggarth
I thought the D variant was that with no power adapter socket? But then I am on my third can of polish beer. Jim
sfbp
It's true, that is the other difference, what the D version does NOT have is a power socket. But since all HiMD units can derive their power from USB, Sony probably thought this is not a significant limitation. Take a look at the pictures of 600D in the equipment browser. I'm not even sure these are real pictures, more like the advertising mock-ups we have run into and remarked on, on this board, before. Even the buttons are wrongly labelled. Azureal
Yep, agreed, my NH600 has the yellow colored power input as well.
