bluecrab
I can hardly believe this is for real. What do you think it will go for? I'm guessing 1200 USD. The description is written with a cool sense of humor. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-MDS-JA50ES-stereo-minidisc-MD-recorder-deck-NEW-IN-SEALED-BOX-/221731246731?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a036528b
punkrockaddict
Ffs! Where the hell did he get this o.O? I could imagine it would sell for more. Description is really funny "nerdgasm" :D
zokuchou
The guy selling this is none other than Gary Bingner, the guy responsible or the guy who ran minidisc.org. The amount of minidisc stuff this guy had was astounding. I have to thank Gary for a lot of my rare minidiscs. He is famous for owning a lot of minidisc gear and never opening it or even using it. A bit of a legend in my book!
Azureal
That's a pretty funny description and so true! Interesting stuff about Gary too. I am watching this one!
bluecrab
I am watching it too, but a few days ago I saw a JA50ES go for $600. It looked to be in seriously good shape, but not NIB. If you are bidding, Azureal, I wish you good luck. If this had come up a couple of years ago, I probably could have really considered it, but...well, it'd be a real extravagance right now. I will just have to limp along with the same MD decks you have, plus a JB930, plus a Kenwood DMF-9020. (I don't know why my MD gear doesn't show up in my postings, as it is all in my Profile.) Azureal
I wish I were in a position myself, but I have to watch and enjoy the show from the outside. :-)

zokuchou
You don't become a curator of a minidisc museum without hundreds of purchases on EBAY and beyond! I'm currently nearing 500. Some of that is selling but most is from purchases. Not all from MD purchases but the majority of.

Bluecrab - I had trouble initially. It doesn't matter what products you put in your profile, you have to add these to your "Signature"
freddyjollo
I am surprised that any one cares about this particular device model any more? Unless you want to run a museum? I wouldnt mind the JAES333 ( is that the model number?) but not this one! For me the JB940/980 is really good enough for the likes of minidisc! PhilippeC
Opportunities like that (50, 555 & 3333ES) are now one or two times every year.
bluecrab
I guessed 1200 USD (you can look it up!) Final price: US $1,227.99 [ 16 bids ] I wonder if an MDS-W1 will ever come my way? They're like the Unicorns of the MD world,
PhilippeC
Your unicorns came by 3 in phamcu's shop three years ago And phamcu maybe still have his black JA50ES for 415 $ su_su1972 yahoo.com https://www.5giay.vn/am-thanh-audio/3360572-ban-dau-md-desk-thu-phat-hoac-lam-da-va-cac-dich-vu-lien-quan-toi-minidisc.html
Azureal
I was watching that bluecrab and meant to post when I saw that price, you were right on the money!
PhilippeC
Even if I am like a hunt dog in front of phamcu's JA50ES, I retained myself to buy it because I would rather keep that money-for-dreams-only to buy an Einstein "The Amp" amplificator which is even rarest than the JA50ES. . bluecrab
Right, PhillipeC. You could buy more than few 50ESs for what that Einstein will cost. Keep saving! What a classy looking piece of gear, too.
