Question about NW-A1000's first charge

i bought nw-a1000. and i charge for 2 hours as such in manual..and now i am not satisfied with battery life.. it takes 3 hours but it must 20 hours. now nw-a1000 is in technical service..what will i do?

and i want to ask another thing.. can u change our sony walkman in 1 week reason of your unsatisfied?

Ahaha no it doesn't have to be 20 hours, 20 hours is at 48kbps for atrac3+ I rarely get above 8 hours on mine with mp3 of around 192-320 and vbr.

but 3 and 20 is very different...otherwise your reply wasn't my question's reply, i asked "was my first charge competent or not?"... must first charge too long?, i didn't do this and my nw-a1000's battery life is only 3 hours..

actually no where here in this question was that asked, you asked what to do and if you can change your walkman.

as well you neglect to mention many things which would help the question. like what volume are you listening at, what bitrate of the song(s) are you using, what options do you have on the screen, ie screensaver? 15 or 30 second screen? are you moving the player around much? how often are you accessing the player? how did you charge the unit? via the usb or the AC adapter?

You will never get 20 hours, forget that number, it doesn't exist. You might be able to get 18 hours at 48kbps if you hardly touch the device while listening to it.

I've left both the A1000 and A3000 plugged into the wall after charging, there is no effect on the battery since once it is charged, the charger will not send current to the battery. This is how lit-ion works, I believe if you read the manual it states that even.

Discharge the device by playing it, then recharge it again for 3 hours using hte AC adapter and check the battery life again, please answer the area in bold first.

You should always full charge it and empty it 3 times whenever you first get it. I don't think you can return anything in turkey, which I hate. That is why Canada and america is a lot better.. you can return it even if there is nothing wrong with it.

friends i return my nw-a1000 and they give me new one... i m a very happy..bu i want to say if we charge this kind of walkmans(li-ion) for 12 hours(first time) battery life is very good...thanks a lot to everybody....

I have the a1200 and I get around 3-4 hours playing wma 192. i am not pleased with this at all especially considering i got much more with my hd5. Also the gui seems very slugish. is this common or should I be contacting sony about a problem?

Nice to hear you got a new one and the battery life has improved. After the battery is charged the first few times, the battery life will get a little better as well, most of the time.

I think with WMA the battery life will definitely suffer a bit, but 3-4 hours does seem low. How new is the unit? Have you tried with ATRAC3plus files or MP3 files instead? If the battery life continues to be poor, and you're still in warranty, by all means contact Sony for service/battery replacement.
