0 bob123_
Yes it is odd. If they think they won't sell well, why not just stock a very limited amount. I am guessing they think there won't be a market for them on the basis that the screen is too small to scroll through 4GB worth of music - but what about those who want to load high bit rate songs onto it? Or maybe they are planning to focus on the next HDD devices?Who knows. But it is strange if you ask me.
0 Ascariss
maybe, but even though I have both hdd players I hardly scroll through my music and just use playlists.
0 kerfuffle
They ought to be flogging more colours. The iPod nano's now in *counts* five different colours. Why does New Zealand (and assuming that it'll be sold here, Australia) miss out on pink and violet? 0 bogon07
Is 4GB memory in short supply or does Sony think the price point for that model will be too high? And as kerfuffle said more COLOURS. It should look good in silver too.Bob123 congratulations on actually getting answer from MySony NZ. MySony Oz never tells you anything only to keep looking at the website. 0 hopeman_
Sony China just announced they will accept preorder of S600/S700 network walkman in the middle of November. GOD! I never expect the price will be such high. In China, there is only black S705 available here, no other colour, no other capacity. And the price of S705 is 2000 yuan which equals to 265 US dollars! about S600, there are only black and blue two colours available. the price of S603 and S605 is about 185 US dollars and 225 us dollars, respectively. What a damn price strategy! It's so much higher than IPOD and even higher than the same S series in other countries. I am now totally disappointed to Sony. Do they always think we Chinese consumers are stupied? Even some sony products made in China are sold in a more higher price than ones in other countries. I think that is why many Chinese consumers always hate sony's products.

0 bogon07
Noticed that the Sony NZ & OZ are both quoting the same price in their own currencies for the RH1 ($599.95) & S205/3 ($299.95/$249.95) making them relatively cheaper in NZ. If Sony follows this trend for the S7003/5 @ $329/$399 then those lucky Kiwis will be getting their ones atleast $50AUD cheaper ! Not quite the cost of a plane ticket yet. 0 kerfuffle
The NW-S700 series are up on the Sony Australia website, but you can't seem to buy the NW-S705F, 'cause I couldn't add them to my cart. But you can add the NW-S706F into your cart. And slightly off topic, but can anyone explain why the green version of the NW-E005F (they now come in green and pink, as well as violet and black) costs $199.99, whereas the other colours for the same model are $199.00? O.OWell spotted, Kerfuffle. Is this part of Sony's stealth advertising technique. You'd think that one of their newletter's would have mentioned that the S70* is released. The S706F is really tempting but the $439.00AUD is a real turn off. Especially since my wife bought a 4GB green iPod $299 for her niece. I'd think that the $199.99/199.00 for the E005F is a typo.07Dec - still no mention of these new S70* models on the SonyOz home page as they are still pushing the Sports S20**. Very odd. Oh well atleast the S70* are acknowledged in Australia now. Edited December 7, 2006 by bogon07
0 kerfuffle
I was browsing the Sony site this morning, and the price of the NW-S70x series have gone down. O_OYou can now get the NW-S705F for $329 and the NW-S706F for $399.Hmm . . . an extra $100 over the 4GB iPod, and you get built in noise-cancelling, decent earphones (which they should have done with the NW-HD1 - to justify its asking price of $599), great sound quality, direct analog recording and a radio. Not bad for $399, I reckon.Edit: Sort of off-topic, but so have the NW-S20x series, by $50. But not the NW-E00x models (and the green NW-E005F is still ninety-nine cents more expensive than the other colours).
