0 markey
Front or the back, i cant see how it could be doneThanksOn the back of the unit there is a silver part that allows you to thread a wrist band through, it has a walkman logo on it. Somehow this part unscrews allowing the unit to be opened. I'm sure there is an earlier post regarding this.
0 Ascariss
I wouldn't recommend removing the front of the unit, hehe.
0 bogon07
Try the downloads section of the forum. There is a service manual for the A1000 which will be a handy reference if you're brave enough to take one apart.
0 flamingsamurai
There's a lot of dust in the front of mine (near the buttons) but i wouldn't want to risk opening it, even if doesn't look as nice.
0 ollienorth
hey i also had the problem with the dust and crumbs and what ever under the cover of the casing. i decided to go for it and slid a drawing pin all around the front cover of the unit. the cover (purple in my case) poped off, it is a thin seethrough piece of plastic covering the player. when i got it off it looked even cooler, so i cleaned it and left it off it now looks like this - (and the screens loads brighter now as it doen't have to get through the cover. so you can use it outside for the first time =] good look ) also this very probally identically for nwa 3000 Edited April 29, 2007 by ollienorth

0 Guest Stuge
@ollienorth:Hmmm. I think now your more dust will get inside your player
0 ollienorth
in reply to both of these posts thanks for trying it out, glad you liked it =]. and the other post , the dust will just get in as much as if it wasn't off as the second plastic layer has a tighter seal around the body of the player. but if that does happen you can just take that one off and clean it and put it back on again. thaks for the replys
0 felomenoide
hi, i got a question too about it... the part that contains the walkman logo is only a silver adhesive paper? it is because i dropped out my a1200, and now when i'm listening to a song, sometimes, almost always it stops in the middle of the song, and continues about 15 seconds later, i think that it could be the hdd that was disconnected after that incident... thanks for your help. 0 ollienorth
You should be able to check if the HDD has disconnected by removing the metal bacl plate. I think the NWA 1000 and 1200 must be pretty similay. on the nwa 1000 this is done by getting some plyers and grabbing the silver loop on the topback of that player for a carrying strap. this is lulled up and backwards at an angle i seem to remember. it is held on by some adhesive stuff. once that is off the back just slots off and you can check the connections. i hope this helped. Can you recommend a suitable tool other than a drawing pin?
