Problem with transferring to minidisc Sony MDS-JB 980

Hi,

I'm trying to transfer music with a Sony MDS-JB 980 mini disc. I'm using Sonic Stage 4.3. It's connected to the computer because the files on the mini disc appear on the screen so I can create groups and change the text, but I can't transfer them (the files that I've recorded on mini discs).

I hope someone can help me.

Regards,

Hi @Rossen - welcome to the forum!

I'm not a SonicStage user but I don't think it can do what you're trying to do? @sfbp is something of a SonicStage expert and should be able to confirm.

Do you have any portable NetMD MiniDisc devices? It is now possible to transfer tracks from a MiniDisc to your PC using Web MiniDisc Pro but it needs to be done from a Sony NetMD portable (or one of the Aiwa clones) as it exploits the "anti shock" memory buffer. As decks don't need this, it's not possible to do it with your MDS-JB980.

Not sure about WMDP. But NetMD was never designed to transfer FROM the device to the PC. The fact that someone has done it is quite wonderful.

If you don't follow the WMDP route, you have the following choices:

1. Play back through the optical port or the coax port (both S/PDIF) and capture the result in your sound card using simple Windows tools. So, not a transfer, only a recording.
2. Buy or borrow an MZ-RH1.
3. (if there are a very few precious files) Send the disk to someone who has an RH1.

Sorry!
