i don think there'll be a problem with that since S20X are already water-resistant (not soaking resistant tho), so its body should be sealed well enough to keep the dust out

p.s. cleaning the dust for E500s is really a big pain in the head...

Yeah, I sure agree with that. Tomorrow I will buy an E005 for my best friend and soon I'll get a S705F. I would like to know if there are any issues like dust and/or discoloration on the painting with the S70x series since my E507 suffered the latter. Thank you very much.

The paint which they have used to mark Play and Vol came out from my S703F.:(

They should've marked that below the plastic, much like the PSP's cross, triangle, etc buttons. Oh well, as long as the painting itself does not go away (my E507's Play, Volume buttons, the jog dial and the back are suffering from discoloration...must be the daily use XD!).

well my previously owned E405 and my current 507 do suffer from dust, but they are nicely built. I used to put the 405 into my jeans a lot without any cases on it, and trust me, the clip (the one from the accessory) scratched more than my jeans did. O_o Anyway my point is that the surface of the player is pretty much scratch resistant, compared to ipods and maybe some other brands.

The jog shuttle did show some minor discolour after one year of use, but it is really minor. My walkman logo never got scratched.

For the S70X series, i noticed that the players dont have screws on them. >.> Therefore it might be more dust resistant?

Just my guess. But i do hear complaints similar to Stuge's. Well u can well interpret this message into sony's trick of forcing u to buy one of its carry cases.

I don't think so because cases for NW-7xx in India and in my countries is still not available yet .

I will have to agree. Getting a case is the best way to protect your investment. Electronic gadget endure a lot of abuse, of course not deliberate. It is very hard to keep your expensive purchase pristine, no matter the brand of your electronic device. It would be good if Sony did include a case with NW-S203/205 and other models, even if it was cheap.

My clip broke easily but I do agree with you on the scratch resistant surface. Lucky, your discoloration issue's minor, mine isn't, the Play button already lost its paint. I'm pretty worried about the lack of screws on the S70x series. I know dust will eventually get under the screen and that's why I'm worried. About Sony's accessories...I had to buy the clip for the S70x series and yeah...for a clip it was expensive ($15 US plus taxes totaled about...$17 for a simple clip...oh well.)

I peeled off the 2 stickers on the back of my E505 the day I got the DAP. The silver parts of the DAP are less shiny than before, but no ugly, uneven discoloration to the best of my knowledge. I put the player into a "sock" whenever i am outdoors though.

Maybe I'll wait for the E10x (lipstick) players to be released before I decide which new DAP to buy. A gold E10x to go with my gold E505.
