Equalizer in NW-S706

Question

Sorry to be ignorant, but I need to adjust the 5-band equalizer to reduce the volume of vocals. For some reason the vocals on nearly all the tracks seem overpowering compared with the instrumental part.

1)Which slider should I adjust to reduce the volume on the vocals? I don't want them to sound muffled or bassy, just quieter. I'm getting 80% of the sound at the top of my head and the other 20 in left and right channels. I just want to be able to balance it better as it hurts to have everything so overpowering in one section.

2) The clear bass slider - is this different to the bass adjustment on the equalizer itself? I thought the first 2 sliders (from left to right) were to adjust bass and mid bass so I'm confused as to how the clear bass fits in!

3) On the equalizer - which is the 'flat' setting? Is it with all the sliders in the middle in the same place? And it it has a 'flat' setting, does this mean that clear bass does not affect it? Thank you for any help in advance!

I think you will find the sound quality on the NW-S706F/B far superior to that of the PSP.

actually,

PSP does have an EQ. But only with presets. so no custom EQ like the walkman series.

BUT this doesn't mean PSP has bad SQ. Good SQ has nothing to do with EQ.

But if you want much bass, or other special things PSP ain't your pick.

PSP has a real ''clean'' yest powerfull sound.

check my topic on PSP's SQ:

hi,

I have to agree that NW-S70x has way better soundquality then PSP.

PSP does have a real clean and nice SQ, and a very good SNR!!!!

But all in all NW-S70x series is better.

that being said,is it worthwhile to pay S$200 more to swap my psp and get a new nw-s70xx,for sound quality and style, but losing the game and video functions?

I think it is worth it. Because, you also get Noise canceling feature and the player is much smaller than PSP. But, if video is must have function then maybe NW-A800 series might be for you.

hm.

still doubtful about the noise cancelling tho.

for example,if a old diesel bus were to pass 2m in front of me,would i b able to hear it?

hai.decide mp3 need to take so long

stress.

Cuts out 75% of ambient noise, so you will still hear some. It does however make a difference.

For those that own an NW-S700 series Walkman, they have realized several thing. The noise cancellation works. It should be called the ambient noise reduction. Music sounds significantly better. Technically, noise cancellation samples the external sounds usinf the microphones on the headphones and creates inverse sound waves that nullifies this. Also, the noise cancellation allow you to enjoy your music at lower levels.

The only problems that I have encounted is on windy day. The sound quality can be worse if winds blows across the microphone.

I have PSP and the NW-S700. The sound quality on the NW-S700 is far superior even without the noise cancellation.

The NW-S700 series walkman is excellent, and would adequately replace the PSP if you only care about music/audio playback. My advice is to only dump your PSP if you never play games on your PSP.

Sony however does manufactures noise cancellation headphone. Which should be about $100US. This will allow you to have the best of both worlds. Have improved sound quality and keep your PSP.

hey. i don't know where to put this so i'll just post here. i went to check out 3 NW-s70s from different shops. i have a 2 doubts/questions.the wheel(or scroller).is it supposed to go both up and down AND left and right?i'm asking because i saw the left right and up down markings on the wheel, but the left-right motion felt like the wheel was loose, due to a manafucturing defect or poor build quality..to me the correct motion should be a sure click or button, a thud, a slide, but it felt like the wheel was 1 or 2mm too wide in diameter for the body..by the way they were all made in malaysia..so to recap,

1.is the wheel supposed to scroll up and down AND left and right,

2.how does yours feel like?

3.where was yours made?

4.when did sony launch the nw-s70?

thanks so much to everyone.

1.Yes, it's supposed to scroll up and down, and left to right. left and right for track/album forward and back, up for album forward/back and down for track forward/back.

2.There is a little play in the wheel, but doesn't worry me too much.

3.Malaysia.

4.Launched approx. 4 to 5 months ago, just before Christmas I think.
