geezawolf
I've imported a whole load of songs in to SS and want to know what I can fit on to my 1GB player. The trouble is, it tells me the total length of all the songs, but not the total file size. I want to know what I can fit on my player. The only way I can do it is to click on each track individually and add up the file sizes which is ridiculous. Any ideas?

geezawolf
Is that it? Is that the only way?!!! Typical crappy Sony/Sonicstage. Why they can't just let you see what you're doing before you start transferring is beyond me. SOOOO wish I'd spent a few eztra quid and bought an ipod. Zizone_
When you just start to transfer, you will see red bar in addition to green bar from Lulu's picture. The red bar indicates estimated file size on the player while the green bar represents file that is transferred.

That's pretty much what I've already said.

Select the tracks you wish using Ctrl to select multiple tracks in the search results window and right click and choose properties or press Alt-enter to see the total size for all tracks selected. jonny mac
I used to use this feature but for some reason Sony removed it from SS. The only thing to do is to use the bitrate & album/track length to calculate the aproximate space instead. As a rule of thumb, a 128kbps track uses 1MB per minute; therefore a 4 minute track at 128kbps (or 132, close enough) is 4 minutes. Obviously at 256kbps the same track would occupy 8 MB of space & so forth. The option to transfer a CD to an MD unit at the same time as ripping it to the library was also removed from SS, some time ago. That was a handy feature too.
