Had a chance to listen all 3 with same file.

They all sound very similar but there are some differances - 818 and 808 are almost identical... the 808 seems a touch sharper - but most wont hear it. The s61x sounds a bit softer in treble and a little less detail, but everything else sounds the same

It can't sound any different, it's the same model. Only the software has changed. How can the 818 possibly sound different to the 808? They're using the same sound chip. As far as I know, they're the same model bar the software. Anyone else like to chime in? I'm not 100% sure, but I'm 99% sure they're the same. . .

I am not sure if someone mentioned it already but NWZ-A818 (8GB) is now 180USD. I'd say, it's pretty competitive price, considering supplied MDR-EX85LP.

I do not know if anyone has taken apart the models or have been able to obtain the service models. I with you on this. I assume that there is no different between the two models (NW-A800 and NWZ-A810) other than the design of some software components.

No, They sound all same to me- since their HWs are identical. (even the FW bug is same)

Did you even notice S61X has slightly less White Noise than the other two???

(I tested with MDR-EX082)

Who can tell the better between A818/A808 and iPod classc ? I heard that the upgraded one, named iMod, is terribly perfect.
