decoupe

Question

My nwa3000 just died after i stupidly drop it into a pool. I getting tired of waiting for a new 20g payer from sony, so i may get the 800 series or wait for 810 series to arrive in Singapore.

I have to another forum and found this meizu player that have a truckload of codec support and function.

To see the features

http://en.meizu.com/product_m6sl.asp

I am not impressed by its design but quite please with its ape and flac support. Its also has a customizable eq which is great. But I want a player that sound good which i found in Sony walkman. So does anyone also have a meizu player ? Is sound quality comparable to Sony ?

There is quite a bit of discussion about the Meizu in the Portable Audio forum of head-fi.org. I have not heard one personally, but most folks consider it a very good deal for the money, especially with the positive features you already mentioned. The two negatives that get brought up a lot are a current firmware bug and hiss with certain earphones. The firmware bug can cause skipping near the end of tracks for certain file formats and bit rates (I don't remember which ones). The hiss issue is apparently pretty severe, but only if you have high sensitivity earphones like some of the Shures and a few others.

I almost bought one, but picked up one of the new Sony NWZ-S616 instead (the 6xx series is the close cousin of the 8xx series, though I don't know if it's available in Singapore).

Meizu is probably the best offer that Chinese brand mp3/mp4 can give, but it doesn't come any close to Sony and Samsung, seriously the sq is pretty bad compare to other international brands, after u hear meizu sq, u probably won't say ipod has a bad sq, anyway it's selling well in China i guess, because of its price and being local brand, that's about it, so u should check out more on Sony, Samsung or maybe even ipod.....if u can get stuff from Japan, they have those nice Japan only walkman for u to buy

I don't know what's your requirement for a good portable device, but i only use Sony walkman. However now you have mentioned about the Meizu player, i would really say even ipod is a better purchase than that Chinese copycat Meizu, even though i wouldn't buy ipod for certain. i mean Meizu in Chinese means something like trendy or modern group(race), i got that from google anyway, but it's just a piece of junk. Its price is 50% cheaper than Sony walkman in China, that's why people can afford it, yeah i guess if we talk in terms of Meizu VS Samsung, or what's a better alternative from buying Meizu, then Samsung of course is a much better choice over the Meizu, Meizu is being called the Chinese clone of ipod and other brands of dap.

I have listened to Meizu before, cause there were Chinese guys in Uni with Meizu player, i tried it, it was terrible compare to any other dap which i have heard so far, the sound quality was shocking, the control wasn't as smooth as what you imagine it to be, unless you really do want to support the "Number one" Chinese dap, then in Singapore i am sure that you can find something better than Meizu
