mcampbel14 Posted January 27, 2003 Report Share Posted January 27, 2003 Hello all, I'm loving my new MZ-N10 EXCEPT the battery life is VERY disappointing...as has been said several times already. now I don't mind using the battery pack......but I'd like to leave it the svelte little thing it is for as long as possible before using the add-on (also the battery pack seems to begin to recharge the internal battery...will this shorten my batteries life?) Would it be possible to put a higher level battery in the machine to subsitute for the included.....or is there nothing out there like that....yet? mAjEsTiC Posted January 28, 2003 Report Share Posted January 28, 2003 i don't think there is a higher capacity Li-Ion battery that can be used within the N10 atm...but regarding ur other question about recharging the internal battery without fully discharging it the answer 2 that is no...Li-Ion batteries do not suffer from the "memory" effect that are inherent in some other rechargeable batteries (namely Ni-Cd)...technically it does but itz is very little that it can be totally disregarded...recharging the internal battery w/o being fully discharged 1st is ok 4 Li-Ion batteries...it does not effect the battery life... That seems very strange to me, because to my knowledge li-ion cells are usually higher voltaage than the 1.5 V AA batteries (1.2V if you are like me and use rechargables,) and for one battery to charge another it needs to be a higher voltage than the battery being charged. Macrosmy n10 do that too....but i bet the battery goes up after using the battery pack because the internal bettery has been sitting there for a while, like my sony digial camera, if i let the batteries sit in the camera for a while, the seems to go up a level the next time when i turn my camera Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bazirker Posted February 1, 2003 Report Share Posted February 1, 2003 sounds like an experiment is necessary. try running the internal battery all the way down and letting it sit for awhile and then see how much juice is in the battery. then try the same thing again, this time with the external battery attached. note that you need the same enviornment and time period. Thanks, Macroshm well ive gotten great performance out of my battery, just keep it on the stand when its home, and hm u shouldn't be having a problem unless your playing mostly sp md's? lp2 takes less power and lp4 even less, but only once have i nearly drained the battery, so for me anyway i dont have a problem with it and i have yet to use my ni-mh rechargeable aa because the lith has depleted,. . . geed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Leland Posted February 12, 2003 Report Share Posted February 12, 2003 I agree with geed. I am satisfied with the battery life of my N10. With NiMH, once it goes down half way, the remaining decay can be very fast. With LIon, the decay is pretty constant until it stops. With one segment remaining on the battery display, the NiMh "gum" battery is really ready to be changed, but the LIon can still go for quite a while. You have to make sure you do not have "quick mode" turned on. This greatly reduces battery life and is not very useful. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Since the internal and the AA are pluged in parallel, i beleive it will charge the wrong one! (Btw Sony 1700mha are crappy, better get a Energizer, Sanyo, Kodak 1850, or some newer 2000 and 2100mha NiMh from other brand) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Now that I do, I am planning on doing some experiments concerning battery life and all once I get the time to do it. High school sucks so much...
