i have a n NH600D himd unit that ate up batteries like crazy (one every two/ three days) it was my major concern with the unit but i found a good way to solv this problem....i had wondered if it would have been a good idea to use a ni-cd rechargable battery for the unit to save money on aa baterys i did this and it fixed my concern with this problem by charging four batterys and taking two out using those over the course of a week or two and then charging those in a few houres while using the other cycle....----- any one else tried this and had different results bad or good i would like to see if im the first to get this it would be easier to just get a model already equiped with rechargables but this way you can still use your player and have fresh batteries each time.....also inform me if this will fail in the next few years or less.....just lookin for backup info on my solution........

well yah i've been doing that since i was using cd players back in the day  ..

n true it's very economical.. ne who

u wanted to know if they the Ni-Cd Batteries fail in time yes they do but the time they take to fail mostly depends on how u charge them..

according to the type u buy u'll c on the package a recommended # of charge n disscharge cycles it's capable of

n they'll usually last a year or 2 then they fail gradually at holding the charge...

n.... getting a model capable of charing batteries is always a plus bearing in mind u might b driving somewhere n ur batteries die n u got ur car adaptor on board u could charge ur batteries then n there n move on

but it's no biggie when u gotta stop listening to ur music to charge so i'd suggest if ur gonna do get one get one that can simultaniously charge n play

not exactly.. but at the same time i meant.. like when using certain devices like laptops, cell phones etc etc.. u can charge them while using them.. at the same time...but i'm not even sure if there's such a minidisc unit.. (i don't even know y i mentioned it but if there is could some1 verify)

well to answer that question i believe a test is necessary.. cuz it wouldn't b accurate to go by opinion altho i must say 2100MAH Ni Hm is alot of juice but i have no idea what energizers r rated at...

but what i've gleaned from specifications is that dry cell batteries seem to always last longer than rechargables...

oh n that Question i asked about the NH600 charging through usb might not even b possible seeing the unit can't recharge in the 1st place..

but i guess when the other units come out we can find out ...

Hey crazeybt1:

I've used rechargeable since the original MD's !!!

The 2100mah NiMH should work just fine.

I like to use devices that work with AA-like bateries because actually I have a lot of rechargeable's.

So I would recommendo that to you too.

Speaking of battery life well I don't know actually how much time a NiMH will last but at least what i've heard is that it will give more life than a standard alkaline...but who cares how much life..I mean...you can just recharge it...ther are some 1 hour even 15 minute rechargers so stop wasting $$$ in alkalines and get yourself some rechargeable's

I've been doing something similar with my 600D. I have four 2100mAh batteries, and a slow charger. When using my player at work, it will kill a battery in two days, so I usually bring one spare battery. When one dies, I swap them out, then put that discharged battery on the charger. When it's charged, I put it with the other three, and grab one of the ones I haven't used, and rotate it in to the mix. Repeat ad infinitum.

I suppose if I upgrade to the 900 in a few months, I'll just slap it on the charger every evening, and maybe leave the AA battery pack thing here at work.

Hey crazeybt1:

The 2100mah  NiMH should work just fine.

I use NiCad 700mAh batteries in my NH600. I get a good 10-12 hours out of them before I need to replace one. I just keep one or two extra charged ones with me.

The majority of my NH600 usage is at work, so the NH600 is plugged into my USB port, and I don't need batteries.

uhh 700 mah batteries..not to my choosing.. 2100mah is more like it ... that's a whole 1400 mah more...so purchasing 1 2100 mah is like havin 3 700mah batteries (700x3=2100) so ur having 3times battery durability with 1 battery  i suggest u get the 2100mah

i got 2 of my 700 mah ni cd batteries that came with my old units in my mouse now  which consumes bout 100Mah...so it give me some bearable usage time...

I did a test with the NH600D. I put a new alkaline battery in it, Duracell, not one of the "ultra's", and ran it. The source material was LP2 on a 1Gig HiMD disc. The unit ran for 27 hours when I stopped it and there was still some charge left. Of course, when you slew from track to track etc or use the antishock capability you will eat battery faster. Still, not bad.
