Aznsilvrboy
I want to get a japan made model of NH1, I was going to buy from MiniDisc Canada until i found out that their units are made in Malaysia, I wouldn't mind American made or Canada Made, but the only places I know where to get those are Sony.com and Sony.ca and their prices are ridiculous. So if anyone know where i can order/buy jap version of NH1 then please post it here. Also I wouldnt mind if you posted where to buy American, Canada made models too. Thanks in advance. Christopher
Well for one, the Japanese version is built in Japan AFAIK. There's a chance that it was built in Malaysia, but that's not really an issue these days as higher-end models made in that area are usually built quite well. Other than the availability of the gold color in Japan and the ability to display it's native language [as well as English], there really isn't too much of a difference. jadeclaw
AFAIK means As Far As I Know. Acronym finder: http://www.ucc.ie/cgi-bin/acronym The chance is there. I've never had problems with malaysian Sony rigs, so I don't think, it is an issue.
Happy Hopping
So, I know the gold color too, but more than anything, I like my NH1 made in Japan. Are you guys saying two different countries made the same unit? If so, can I get a few more web sites that sell the Japan gold color ver., and willing to ship to North America? As AudioCube price is very high for that gold color one. In addition, if we pick the gold Japanese ver., how do we avoid the Japanese language? Would it keep poping up? Does anyone bought the gold ver., if so, is it made in Japan?
skyther
Indeed, don't buy Malaysian made products. The people there are stupid and uneducated. Their products are of inferior quality.

crazeybt1
Skyther(x) haha  ne who... that's not such a good statement to make on a forum weren't you the one that told me that these things are being read all over the world? ne who.... i'm wondering now if the place of manufacturing have something to do with the build of the unit now you put it in prospective seeing that from my 4 years of using minidisc most haven't lasted me more than 9 months without a fault ( friends says that i'm the reason for the faults but that's debatable) now i'm concerned about this because my black N707 and many others that i've seen came with a crack around the screw hole at the bottom right (with the unit facing you) and that being the case that's the first screw that went missing off my unit then the screws at the side going up where the hold switch is as well as the one at the bottom left those in tact are those at the top and on the left.. now i'm blaming the loss of screws to some uhh... manufacturing faults ( miss calculations of the components sizes etc) .. for instance if u take out the screw of most devices e.g a cell phone.. you wouldn't find the two different parts moving apart from each other unless there's a spring causing some resistance as in the case of taking off the chip board at the back of the display of the N707 where there's a spring under the main control button ( i hope u can picture what i'm talking about thus far) now in the areas that i meantioned earlier where the screws are missing .. the screw holes are nothing close to flush but rather out of place like there's something forcing them apart either above or below and this is an observation i made since a month after purchasing the unit... maybe i should try purchasing a unit made in a different location have you? and if so how could i go about doing that

Happy Hopping
speaking of made in Japan, I am almost certain that when the NH1 photo was first posted about 2 mth. ago, at the back, it clearly stated made in Japan. So why all of a sudden, we have this malaysia business? I don't mind made ni malaysia, but for this price tag, it better be made in Japan. me
Skyther is made in Malaysia too. He is sick of people avoiding his country's products because of a perceived bad quality. Therefore he often posts sarcastic comments. I should stop buying Japanese products, dump my girlfriend, and stop studying the language because Japanese people eat whales. <Mod edit: skyther always posts sarcastic comments. He's a rebel punk, that's why.>
