All this has probably been covered before, but I haven't visited the forum for a while now so please bear with me. I am in the UK and currently deciding which Hi-MD unit to get to replace my Sharp MD-MT88 portable.

I currently use the portable to make MDLP compilation discs from CDs (via an Optical cable & my hi-fi) and have no experiance of NetMD. unsure.gif Will Hi-MD be a big step up for me??

I was going to go for the cheap MZ-NH600, but read a few bad things about it so will probably go for the MZ-NH700. Anyone have any good/bad opinions of this model?

How much recording time of LP2 quality audio can you get from a re-formatted 74/80min disc? And how much uncompressed PCM audio will a reformated disc hold?

And lastly, when will Sony make a full size Hi-MD Hi-fi deck? I'm still waiting for a worthy successor to my MDS-JB920.

Things like it had a poor user interface and not many inputs. (Although I think the European model has an Optical input?)

One thing I would like about the 600 is that it takes good ol' AA 'pencil' batteries. Don't fully trust these chewing-gum stick rechargeable things... :whatever:

well if you make your own compilations and dont need it for live recording then high speed usb transfer is better than optical in ...unless you dont have a computer....then i suggest the 700 but otherwise the 600 isnt as bad a model as what it sounds....it works just fine if you arent really really really picky about every little thing on yer player
