  1. Hello, MD fanatics! This is my first post! I bought my MZ-N10 back when it just came out - can't even remember how much I paid for it. Does anyone know what was the retail price of it back then? Also, just realized that the USB that came with it was not in the package (I just read here that people steal them) as I have never used it to record - just used it to play recorded music. I still have the original box but I did not find the USB cable. I cannot find the same USB cable online - the one I saw was sold for $40 off eBay 2 years ago which I think is a little much for just a cable. LOL So I just purchased MZ-N505 complete with accessories (no box). My question is: Is there any difference with the quality of the recordings between these 3 models of Sony MD recorders? I love MDs - I have had about 5 MD players/recorders since they came out. I was literally jumping with joy when they first came out as I love compiling songs in a tape. Thanks! PS: I am not sure if this is where this topic should be posted. This is the most appropriate based on the choices that are available.
  2. Hello again! I have for sale my Sony MZ-N10 It is in lovely "as-new" condition - just check the photos. Lovely magnesium body. Fully kitted out MDLP with Type-S, NetMD and Acoustic Engine, more info http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N10.html I include the original remote and the instruction manual. Sadly I have no means of charging the built-in Li-ION battery and I do not have the AA sidecar so I must specify it as "untested" however from memory I believe it worked fine. It has just been sitting unused for years. Photos: https://imgur.com/a/Gl4Gw Please PM me for offers!
  3. I wish to depart with my MZ-E10 and MZ-N10. MZ-E10's battery is completely out. MZ-N10's battery is pretty much out. Otherwise, they are in excellent conditions functionally and physically (see photos). Please name the price for my babies. P.S. 1. w/ original charging cradles. 2. w/ original remotes. 3. w/ original USB cable (for N10) 4. w/o bundle earbuds (I have one bundle earbuds alive; I will give it to the first buyer for free.) 5. w/o AC adapter (I have an AC adapter alive, but it's 220V. If a buyer gets both of the items, he/she can get it for free.)
  4. I just got one of these but the seller has misplaced these items. They are unique to the unit so I cannot use the AA sidecar from other MD units and the cable is not a mini or micro USB type. Many thanks!
  5. MZ-N10

Hello ! I have just registered to this forum because I have recently gotten hold of a MD recorder, an MZ-N10, which I've got from a friend who had not used it in years, and who apparently did not plan to. The thing is, the unit won't read any MDs. Whenever I try an MD inside it, it fiddles around for a while making a loud whirring sound, eventually ending out with a "Read Error" alert. At first I thought it was just a problem with the MD but as I have another recorder that works, as I tested more and more MDs out it became apparent the problem came from the unit. Firstly I downloaded the manual off the internet and tried the "reboot" method that basically instructs to power down everything, let it rest for a while then power it back up, to no avail. Then I learned there was a service mode for the device, so I downloaded the service manual. After launching the service mode (with one of the methods that doesn't require you to disassemble the whole thing) and out of curiosity, I ran the self-diagnosis result display mode, to try to learn more about what could've caused the issue. This returned : 013 1 00B6 004 N 004B 035 N100B6 004 N200B6 000 R_004B Now I'm a complete noob when it comes to this kind of things, and I don't know if this would help, but the error codes indicate : a TOC address data error (013, which I have no idea what it is), two spindle errors indicating an abnormal rotation of disc (both 004 errors) and a MD DATA 2 disc error (the 035 one, which again, I have no idea what it might be). Have any of you had this problem before ? Is it repairable with having to send it back to Sony ? Thanks in advance ! All the best, A.
