Oh, Vista64.... never even considered it, since W7 is basically released. The 32 bit version works fine and the 64-bit version supports XP compatibility mode by running a whole virtual (but integrated) copy of XP. Sorry about that. I think history will show that Vista was a strange and mostly unnecessary stop along the way.
-
Think so, someone here got SS running already.
-
I'm talking about the new freebie with W7

I think to even begin to accomplish what avrin is hinting at you would need all the program files directories related to sonic stage, and the old registry file(s).
-
The browser is still in its old location. The gallery and downloads, I dunno. Downloads is gone, and the biggest prb rite now is all crosslinks (external and internal) are broken, cos they point to the old server. Not sure that playing from the wall socket helps. However I think that completely removing all power sources overnight may do the trick.

I wonder if this (auto-marking) was a feature added in Cool Edit Pro (which I never got, unless I took the update and trashed it) over and above what was in CoolEdit96? I looked for this a long time ago and could never find it. I wonder if there are any other programs that don't cost $300 (Adobe Audition last time I checked) that will do this?
-
Sigh. Most of the bluetooth units have had AtracAD support removed from them. The only (BT) one that I know for 100% sure has the feature is the MEX-BT5000. (possibly there's a 5001/5002). The reason the disk got garbled is that MP3 players seem to need write access to the file system... grrrr. Of course with the MD filesystem changing even one BIT will render the whole thing a dud as it is encrypted from start to finish.
-
It will probably be the case that the Microsoft solution is the only one that works. And we know it does from some posts in another thread. Forgive me for not providing a link.
-
Not quite (IMHO). Only Sony has decks with support for AtracAD. So Kenwood and Pioneer, for example would be completely hopeless as they didn't buy into the concept AFAIK. Even then only a limited number of Sony decks do it. The commonest is the CDX-GT610UI.
-
Realistically what you need is the keys from your previous installation. Even then I am not sure if they are tied to the CPU (motherboard or CPU serial num?) or what.... Avrin is honestly the only one here who can reliably tell you how to revive this lot if you can get the keys of the old disk, so I'll leave it to him.

It's getting clearer to me with every iteration. I think what I did was leave the RH1 batteryless overnight. Intuitively this makes sense to me.... maybe it gets back its ability to discriminate between charged and uncharged batteries. I recall it was you talking about Westminster Abbey so I had you pegged for a Brit. Sorry. I did just the same, ordered another battery - by the time it arrived my original battery was back in the land of the living.

Found it.... Page 30 of the N910 manual. http://minidisc.org/manuals/sony/sony_mzn910_manual.pdf What a weird feature. It's not documented for the NH900 which is the "base" model (ie from which the other contemporaneous, lower-numbered first generation HiMD recorders were derived, NH600/NH700/NHF800). The NH700 doesn't actually have that button on the non-LCD remote that ships with the unit.
-
Sure. But I read those threads. I never actually read of someone who tried it. I'm not talking about a third party USB-playing headunit. I'm talking about a real Sony with AAD specifications. (A lot of people said trackmarking with a remote couldn't be done, too).
-
I stumbled today on the answer to a question I recall having (or seeing) no answer to a long time back - can a remote be used to trackmark whilst doing live recording? For the HiMD line (I have NH700 and RH1 so that is the first and the last, just about, so I assume all in between), the answer is simple. YES! Whilst recording, simply press the pmode/rept button on the remote. This creates a trackmark. I looked in vain for any documentation on this. Can a. anyone confirm this? b. anyone tell me if it is already documented (for ANY model) and if so where? Cheers Stephen

If you speak to a moderator or administrator, you may find that they still have access to the old forum complete with links. *that* may be the best way to get it.
-
Are you sure? The Sony headunits refer to something called an Atrac Audio Device. I'd be rather surprised if the M200 wasn't one of them. I haven't tried it because mine don't have a USB socket. I actually was hoping someone would try it for us.
-
1. No - it won't fit because of the radio extra pins - no provision in RH1/M200 2. No (you can't do this regardless, even with the RM-MC38EL that came with it). PLEASE CORRECT ME IF WRONG, I just tried it and cannot see how to do it. 3. RM-MC55ELK. Links to it here (eg from Google) are all broken, though. Not much sign of it around though. Sounds like a neat beast. Wow! I just discovered that the (RM-MC38EL) remote makes track marks if you press PMODE/Rept during microphone recording. Someone asked about this months ago, and noone ever pointed this out. THAT'S AMAZING.... no sign of this in the relevant manual section, at least. Did anyone else know this? Does it work on other recorders too??? (yep, I just checked the MZ-NH700)

Here is a seller I had good luck with: LIP4WM

USB power or wall power? (Presumably wall power since with USB power you can only do things from the 'puter, right?) So now what happens, if, while playing, you unplug the power source? I seem to recall this scenario after I left it unused for 6 months. If you can now play on its own, just let it play awhile. What does the battery indicator show? One more thing: is it anything to do with the fact that the last time you were charging it you were back in Blighty but now you are on 110V, with the SAME charger (yes, I realise it's specced for 110-230)?
-
I'm actually wondering if it's overcharged rather than under-charged. What happens if you immediately (after seeing the start of charging) press play? Added: oh, I am starting to remember now. There's a tricky way to reset the unit. Maybe you need that!
-
OK. Here's my question. Does it refuse to work connected to USB? Also, did you in former times leave it (or them!) connected to USB for long periods, rather than charging with the wall charger? I definitely remember this business of it refusing to accept charge. The battery that did this is still alive and kicking a**.
-
Congrats! You'll soon be up to half a dozen units, like the rest of us Your description makes it an NH600D, as I am sure you have already deduced. The next thing that most afficionados eventually get is a player-only. They tend to be thinner and use a lot less battery, and they all start with the letter E. Mine is an MZ-EH70. One advantage is that you cannot erase a precious recording accidentally.

Looks like the links I got so used to were off the forum, not the minidisc.org page. And didn't get copied.

It may be that some links are missing since the transition. You could try here: http://minidisc.org/part_Manuals.html Good luck!
