Hi all, I know the remote on an E10 is a special one...so I was wondering, can you plug your 'phones directly into the player ? or are you stuck with the remote ? so far I prefer to use the controlls on my players and not the remotes even though I loose acces to several adjustmants / functions. last post I made about this unit was about the possibility of changing the battery. as far as I can tellit was only able to be changed (officially) by a service center...has anyone here sucessfully done it yet ? I finally snagged one. I shure hope the battery has some life in it ! thanks !

there was one on ebay listed as a store display unit just a day or two ago and it closed@ $150.00 then there was one about 5 min ago too with a Buy it Now @ $85 so I nabbed it ! sorry to tease...I hope to god the battery is in decent shape (not to mention it's tiny mechanicals) cause your notsuposedto be able to change out the battery. I've been looking for one for quite a while...6 months at least. I'd say save a link to an ebay search for it. click that search every day. one will show up. also try craigs list. I found one there on the L.A. list but the seller didn't want to hassel with shipping to Seattle. she only wanted $75.00 and I'd have bumped that to $100 if she'd include shipping for that ammount. when I called her add she was in an airpoart in NYC and she never called me back...oh well. good luck, they are out there.

NH1 says 6V on the stand, N1 says 3V...no workie even if they did fit.

yeah, I figured most users don't need to keep their cords hidden or protected from snaging on stuff as much as I do, but even if you don't work in a dangerious enviornment, having a spagetti mess all over you dosn't look all that cool...I plug mine into a stereo at home too, but when I'm using it as a wlakman, I like to keep it under controll. I was curious if anyone's cut holes inside their coat/shirt pockets for routing cords.
-
just curious how people stow the cords for your gear while joging, walking, at work wherever you use any DAP on the go. for me, I haven't been able to find a place for the remote that works well. I can't see putting the player in my pants pocket cause I sit down alot or push heavy stufff around with my hip or thigh in construction sites or back at the shop. so, right now, I keep the player in my shirt pocket, run the headphone cord out a hole in that pocket into my shirt where it goes under my arm, up my back and the phones hang over my shoulders. I can flip the phones inside my shirt coller when Im not listening and the whole thing virtually disapears. I'd like to run a remote, but really, just to get the radio function. so I was thinking I might get a separate pocket radio for that and just put the MD player in my toolbox while I listen to the senate hearings on NPR. wearing $400+ in audio gear in an industrial setting is dangerious. I can't have my cords snag on stuff ir the player get smashed up agenst my body. anyway, how do you guys work it ?

I agree the RH1 is real neat looking...love the display. my use of minidisc (any of them) so far is to record (analogue) music I've found on the web and some on CD so I can go mobile with it. I don't see using it as a recorder at a live show of any kind. maybe someday I'll want to upload...but by then I'll have a new computer and probably other methods of file swaping. but the point is, for me a minidisc is the end destination of the music. I don't know anyone to trade discs with and I haven't recorded off anyones IPod and wanted to upload to my comp. so, uploading old files isn't an issue. I can see it'd be very useful to a vetran MD user though. I mean, right now, I have about 7-8 discs I've recorded and honestly, I'm still just learning how to record so it sounds best vs the record settings. I may wipe all my recordings and do them over once I find a method I like best. anyway, the RH1's controlls arn't as good in my pocket as the NH1 or other units I have. plus aside from the display I just like the NH1's feel in my hand. I'm on the fence right now but I may decide the M200 I have is for trade value twards another back up NH1. or maybe a NH3D or EH1 or E10.

NH1 won't upload standard or MDLP recordings ? I need to read more of the manual...
-
thanks...I'll look into an NH900. the NH1 showed up. looks and sounds great. spent one day with it in my pocket playing near 6 hrs worth. shure seems well made. I may just sell my RH1 and buy another NH1.

Hey BigH, just realised where your at...I'm down in Seattle my old boss moved his shop up to PT though...wish I could go up and keep working with him. sweet town.

where were you last week when I took a slightly higher Buy it Now ??? yesterday one closed @ $153 in similar condition...hard to say when a little machine will decide to give up the ghost though. also really hard to say what you can get on ebay. I got my N1 @ $50 and nobody else bid. then just a week later one in nice shape got bid up to $125ish. mine was MIB though .

it may be a moot point cause someone left a complete NH1 on ebay with a good BiN so unless the seller is thief, I'll have one in a few days. I've been using an NHF 800 in my shirt pocket in a metal shop. then I got a NOS N1 about 2 weeks ago for work cause I wanted to loose the AA battery lump.....sooo heh, seeing as how dusty ( and were talking electrically conductive brass dust, magnetic steel dust, god knows what all other dust) a metal shop is..would you guys concider bringing an NH1 to this enviorment every day ? my NHF has had a disk error twice so far and after blowing the inside out with compressed air it was fine again. I thought I could see steel dust on the spindle so I'm guessing that's magnetic ? I'm also looking for a RH1 vs NH1 comparrison cause although I like my RH1,I agree with Blueraja in that, the controlls are not that great in terms of ergonomics. it's easy to shift the play button up or down when depressing it,also the eject being right across from play isn't too great. so I may just sell the RH1...it looks really cool but the NH1 'aint no red headed stepchild ! just a few months ago I had no minidiscs, players or anything...now I have an RH1, N1, NHF 800, NH1, and I gave an MDLP unit to my GF too. gone through some Koss Plugs, some JVC budds and I'm currently running UE Super Fi 3 and 5's...oh and I got an amp in an altoid box dang...I need to evaluate my pile and unload some of it. I want an E10

cool units ! I hope you post pics of the Panasonic when it shows up. -
no problem. I was just looking at one of these (complete setup) on ebay in the UK. but I passed on it. $40 is a sweet deal.

if blueraja dosn't want the player I'm interested. shoot me a PM if you only want the dock for this BR. if you take it all @ $40 I might just want that player. thanks, Nate

well, I guess nobody here has tried bolth yet ? oh well. I got my Super fi 5's today and man, they do bomb the bass deeper at higher volume levels than the 3's do. I'd thought some of my recording had been distorted by too high of recording levels but it seems I'd maxed out the bass capabilities of the Super Fi3's I got these used for $125.oo and I'd say that's about as low as I've seen on ebay. I'm happy with them. I'd say this is about as high end as I need to go in the relm of headphones.

Hi All..stuck this question here caus it's really just a question about cords I spose. I've seen several custom headphone cords (and many other typ of patch cords) on various boards, but searching for a DIY about how to make the cord hasn't come up with anything. a friend had a set of Shure E2c's with a badly frayed cord at the earpiece. he gave them to me and Icracked openthe earpiece, cut the frayed section of cord out and re solderd it back. glued the earpieces back together and they workbetter now. but after fixing that frayed section, I now know there's a problem at the Y in the cord. so, I'd like to have a go at making a custom cord. does anyone have a link to a DIY on trick headphone cords I could read ? or should I just visit radio shackand have a go at it.

Hey all...so right now I use Ultimate Ears Super fi 3's and I just bought a set of Super fi 5's with the dual drivers. still waiting for them to show in the mail. but I'd love to know how the E4c or E4g stacks up agenst the UE's I keep saving ebay auctions waiting for a good deal on the Shures I've been making different earplug gasketts for my UE's using shrinktube to make the connection tube and then fitting an industrial foam ear plug over the shrink tube. they all seem to work well, but the foam plug needs replacement every day or two as it looses it's firmness...it needs tobe tight to transfer the base well. I'm hoping the Super fi5's with their bass driver dosn't need to be so tight to get the bass kick in deep egads, are earbuds like minidiscs ?? I feel a collection starting !!

hmmm, those look cool. I'd love to hear them.
