How sturdy is it and how dependable? Been thinking about buying one since now I have the MZ-200 and of course Don't want to be carrying that around much... Thanks
-
Weird , but i bought my mz-200 new and it didnt have the blue sticker.... als the packaging , the entire exterior of the box was not in some of kind of plastic wrap that you would find with say ipods or zunes does sony do this and purpose?
-
Looks very nice, however, I just don't know or feel confident on the sound .... if however, I do get a chance to test one out , once it comes out here in the US, I will like to see and consider buying one...yeah right, My wife will probably kill me.
-
Thanks RobA. Still, there are people out there that look at one like we are "not right in the head" and that we should stick with Ipods. I tend to just ignore and reason with myself saying "They just don't get it"
-
Congratulations on your purchase! The sound quality is phenomenal! I'm not sure about the remote though.
-
believe me, i would not get an IPOD. Well technically i have one which is the iphone...but never really use it for music.. I know that if I would hook it up that it would be more convenient to carry all your music collection or most of it.... but nah, I love the Minidisc .... Thanks for the suggestion there Barock. I had thought that is all you have to do since I have hooked up my other minidisc player in that way to the Bose PC Speakers line input that I had and it worked.....

Hope this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know if you can hook up the MZ-M200/RH1 to the following Car Stereo or Comparable that has an auxiliary in the front and will the sound be just as good? Interested in doing this instead of having to look for a Minidisc Receiver on Ebay to buy and I would think that it would be much more economical..... ( haven't had the experience to do this, maybe I could stop at a Best Buy or other electronic store and plug my Mz-m200 there. I'm pretty sure I am going to get a look or a comment saying " Dude why don't you just get an Ipod"

listening to WILCO "Blue Sky Blue". Originally recorded analog from Sony DVP-S7000 to MDS JB930. Great Album.

Thanks GuitarFxr, Been wanting to post this but problems with accessing the site lately.

Awesome, hearing how long you have had lets me know that it has lasted well.....and should be very sturdy for years to come. When you first bought did you ever noticed that the display area, well not actually the frontal display but on the edges like where the buttons are, did that look like it had small hairline scratches? I am assuming that because of the fragility of the plastic that it was just the way it was molded from the factory.

I am planning a trip to the beach this summer and wanted to record without people around, so this means i will be getting up early morning etc.... has anyone had suggestions or experience and what to prepare for and what not to do or do? Thanks! I will be using the MZ-m200.
-
Thank you Barock. I will do some custom cutting later. I want to keep it in pristine state.(if possible).

I have not taken off the little display protector that came on my M200 but was wondering if I do would it scratch easily? Looks like the PSP finish. Are there any screen protectors or so I have to custom make one out of say an Ipod ready screen overlay?

Thanks for replying. I thought about buying them but they are quite expensive. I think I will get the Sony MDR-NC60's (a.k.a. poor mans bose). Checking the specifications on those the impedance is at : 40 Ohms @ 1kHz (On) and 100 Ohms @ 1 kHz (Off). Those should work much better for the MZ-M200.

You got me there. I just don't understand. Instead of progressing now they are regressing. You get to see what Bill Crutchfield said at crutchfield.com ? Here is a quote: "Digital audio can sound amazingly good. Unfortunately, some of today's most popular digital sources – MP3 players, satellite radio, and Internet radio – often do not. These technologies are wonderful in many ways. But their operation typically depends on lower-resolution signals than you get with CD. Therefore, millions of young people may never have experienced true high-fidelity sound reproduction."

Thanks guys, its very beautiful and will post some pics later of it here. Do you guys feel that this will be the last of the great gadgets....the last minidisc (portable) produced? I'm pretty sure that this subject has been touched before. Co-workers, just kept telling me that I was crazy for buying a Minidisc. That I should get with program and just get an MP3 player. As much as I tried telling them , its not about me having a fancy mp3 player that could show album art (which I am not saying its not nice) but its for to me about sound quality. (seems like some the generation Y (most) can't comprehend)

Well, Finally got around to buying a new Sony MZ-M200.
-
Well the Iphone is like an Ipod with a phone capability.... Just making a statement that Ipods, Iphones and any other MP3 player can't compete. Everyone here just about knows that.

Everyone here at work thinks I am crazy when they here that I want to get a $350.00/$400.00 Minidisc player. But if I were to get an Ipod, Zune they are all for for it. I tell them about the sound quality and how so much differs with that of those players yet they are like, "whatever," and yet , well they are happy to hear their music on those white earbuds that deliver the worthless type of sound quality ever. Might be better if you listen to AM. I wish only that Sony would have made Movies , Bluray in an MD format, that would have been awesome. -
has anyone had the privilege of using these headphones with their HiMD or or MDs? Would they require a separate amp.

Hello, I am back. Using currently a Sony MZ-NF610 and hooked it up to a Denon A/V receiver at my brothers place. wanted to compare the sound from his Iphone to it. Tested it with "englishman In New York" track from Sting. The one on his Iphone supposedly was lossless. The one on the MD was an analog recording that had been conducted from a Sony DVP-s7000 -player to a MDS-Jb930. The Iphone lost.
-
so the best thing to do is to rip the CD on windows as wave lossless? Or would you rather opt to record directly from a CD player (optical) to the MD for the best sound quality?
-
Thanks for the info. Well , I mainly bought this for playback purposes and when if I do get a chance on getting my hands on an RH1 (mz200) well I could use for stationary and using this for playback. By the way, I have a few MD's that were recorded in analog from my Sony DVP-S7000 to the MDS-JB930 and it sounds very good on this portable with my Sennheiser PX100. Would I notice any thing of better quality if I record in Digital? (optical cable). Thanks

The other day I started talking with some co-workers of mine who all have pretty much bought either an Itouch, Ipod classic, and zune and of course I brought up the minidisc and how I think it just sounds better... One of my co-workers said that she had bought one years back but hardly used it. She said that since I was a fan, maybe she would give it to me. So she brought in the other day, it was a Sony MZN510 in very good like new condition. I asked how much she wanted it for it and she said 15.00. So I bought it and i got 2 blank minidisc. She also said that she had some more blank minidiscs, still waiting for them. Anyway, in all honesty , I like it very much since it uses the AA battery. I sure could use this in long trips.

Actually you can Rip and Audio CD in Atrac but I can't remember if its Atrac3 or what? I will check when I get home later. Also, you can rip in MP3 format, and you can go as high as the 320kbps, which , correct me if I am wrong , a lossless codec? Thanks
