  1. Interesting. Thanks to you both for the feedback. If the RH1 also had AAC, I'd probably consider hunting down one. Do those Onkyo decks support Mp3?
  2. Thanks for the reply. How do you mean crippled? It officially supports MP3, do you mean it just does a poor job?
  3. Hi, I'm using a HiMD M100 unit I recently picked up. I was listening to an Mp3 today and I noticed these hiccups sounds in the recording. I know I've heard this sound before in Mp3s before. It's an artifact of some kind. The strange thing is that it's mp3 of a podcast directly from NPR. I've never had this issue with their mp3s before. I'm wondering if that's the file or the unit. I recall reading that HiMD units that read Mp3s have issues with certain MPEG layer MP3s. Is that the issue here?
  4. Thanks for the help. It looks like QHiMDTransfer will be a good option once it gets a little more development. I can upload stuff just fine, but downloading onto the unit is not possible yet. I installed Snow Leopard on a partition and am using Sony's Hi MD Transfer software and that is working perfectly.
  5. Just got it the mail. It's in superb condition! The volume button is no where near as finnicky as I thought it would be. Scratches are minor. Haven't noticed any issues. Only thing is the battery is a little used. I'll need to replace it.
  6. Yep that was the deal. He said he include a remote to control the volume. If I'm feeling brave, I might try and see if I can fix the button too. But we'll see.
  7. I just got ordered an RH10 from a guy on Amazon. I got in touch and he was nice enough to bring down the price from $150 to $115. Includes a remote, battery and AC. The reason its a bit lower in price is that the volume down button is defective. I can live with that though.
  8. Onkyo still is? Where? Whenever I try to hunt down these units I never find a retailer just individuals selling them for top dollar.
  9. I have an NH600D. Dom't know if that offer type R
  10. Actually now I'm thinking I'd be interested in an RH10/M100.
  11. Hi all. Sorry if this has been posted already. I looked through google searches and old topics here. Is there anyway to transfer mp3s from Mountain Lion to a Mac compatible Hi-MD player like the RH10? I know theres a fix to Leopard but that doesn't seem to apply. And I mean is this possible w/o dual booting Windows with Parallels or something. I'm looking to see if I can switch to Hi-MD without sacrifing my preferred computer platform or performing some elaborate workaround to transfer music. Thanks!
  12. Hi there. If you mean copying CDrs to MD, I've found good results with staples CDs. They're cheap and pretty reliable. I've been able to do high speed copying from CDrs to MD with it. Nice looking set up btw!
  13. Yeah it's tempting but it's iffy. They powered it on but they didn't test if the disc loads etc. I've run into that issue before and it's a easy thing that breaks on any optical device.
  14. Ok then they are on the table as far as I'm concerned.
  15. My Sharp MD player is on the fritz. I've used it every month since 1997 so I'd say it had a good run. My whole MD collection is standard MD. Not even MDLP. So I'm not too choosy about what the unit class is. The most I'm looking for is one with a nice big display like my MD-MS702 and a good industrial design. The basic Sony portables tend to have that sliver size display. I really like that my Sharp display has a separate line for the track, decible level and the meta data. You know what I mean? Those fatter rectangular displays. I'll buy but I'd prefer a trade first. I have a Sony MZ-NH6000. It works perfectly but again, I need that big display. That's why I'm willing to part with it. I can do a trade or a trade plus cash. Or if mine if worth more than yours then a trade plus cash on your end. Whatever works! Since I'm using basic MDs I'm more into looks rather than specs for this one!
  16. Still looking for a car unit? Here are pics of my Sony MDX-CA680X. It works great with no issues. Sorry the images are so grainy. There are some minor paint scratches but besides that looks good! PM me if interested.
  17. I don'd have the jewel case ones but I have the slide in cases that come with the blanks. I may even still have a pile of 30 or so of them. Let me check and I'lll get back to you.
  18. I wonder if this is something that could be added to DoubleTwist.
  19. Speaking of which, has there been attempts at making an open source alternative to Sonic Stage?
  20. Hey all, I have a few concerts I'm editing. Most of these are "official bootleg" shows. Some are sound board recordings but others are AUD recordings. Meaning captured from microphones in the crowd. I have crude sound from about three different sources. My plan to do some tweaking and mix the three sources. For the heavier bass source I'm going to filter out everything about 200hz. That's sort of thing. Anyone have experience squeezing water from a rock?
  21. I'm sure if Sony wanted to, they could design a BluRay Minidisc that is backwards compatible for old Hi-MD and regular MD. 8GB Hi-MD+ discs would be awesome. Most people wouldn't need more than one or two.
  22. Thanks for the input Ill give slower write speed a try!
  23. Just checking again. I'd prefer not to do the whole eBay thing if i could help it.
