  1. I was wondering if anyone has any CBS Radio Mystery Theater episodes for sale? I'd like to get them for my dad who used to listen to them in the car on WCCO when we were traveling late at night. It was so cool listening to those in the glow of the dash lights traveling through the night. If you have any, please help me score some points with my old man, he's the reason I'm into recording radio broadcasts in the first place!
  2. Thanks Phillippeb, I just ordered some of those today, $30 each though. Ouch!
  3. I have a need for some of the MD Data2 discs recently and have had no luck finding them in the USA. If someone has any of these they want to sell, I would be eternally grateful! Thanks in advance.
  4. I got unlucky enough with SS years ago that I re-ripped everything last year with EAC. I never really got much passed the testing stage before I decided against AAL and counting on SS. I think I have good quality control with my present setup. I will be making a complete conversion of all these WAVs to LP2, keeping the source files of course (no re-ripping of physical discs - EVER I hope). I have one dedicated PC for just SS, this is the machine I will use to convert the files. I'll remove the DRM (File Conversion Tool) and store these on a USB drive to use with my laptop, importing those to the local install of SS (it has a blank library, I've tested this before and it works great). I figure that way I can listen to them on the laptop AND burn them straight to MD on the go (I really only use LP2 for NetMD anyway. I use the cheaper stuff on the road in case of damage or theft). I thought it would be a great way to have a LOT of music in a small package. But I don't know - it it crashes with 1513 th CD I'd be pretty dissapointed I haven't played with Simple Burner much, but will use it the next time I buy a CD on the road with the laptop just to have on MD before I get home and rip new stuff right.
  5. I've been adding all my ripped CDs in my collection to Sonic Stage for burning onto MD's in LP2 mode and I'm up to about 1500 full-length CD's so far. I've a had few SS crashes so far, but all my data is still there, MD's burn well, imports from the M200 work fine - overall I'm happy. I remember reading somewhere that there might be a limit to how many songs SS will hold but cannot find it for the life of me Can anyone comment on SS capacity limits? It's been 4 months of work almost every night and I'm getting more CDs all the time. Obviously this is a huge investment of time. I Optimize SS database after every session and back up my whole Windows XP install to a home server, to be safe. I'm thinking about running a batch file conversion of the wav's into LP2 mode, after they are tagged correctly, then remove the DRM just to have them in case of a OS/hardware crash. I would have done things differently had I known then what I know now. MD would be so cool without encryption!
  6. I know the remote from my JB-940 works real well on my MDS-JE480. Obviously any unique buttons will not activate features not on the deck. I think they all would work with each other in a general fashion. But if I were spending money I might want feedback from someone with more experience than myself
  7. I don't follow you sfbp, I don't have the pro version of Sound Forge maybe that's why I'm lost. I do look forward to your thoughts when you have time.

    Differences

The MZ-M200 comes with a microphone but otherwise they are the same. Check out bhphoto, they usually have good deals as adorama camera. Welcome to the forums!
  9. I'm really interested to see what you find out, when it happens. I think sfbp comments will be right on. Lets us know!
  10. I predict the results will be so close that PCM might actually less pleasing than SP. I find SP to be a very pleasing codec and with a wild guess speculate that PCM might pick up sounds that even in a studio might not be desireable. I can't wait to see what the results are, I am by no means an expert.
  11. Welcome to the forums Chris. Now fill those discs up!
  12. Hello all, I just got a Denon DN-045R and I'm pretty excited. However, it says it's set up for 230 volt and being that I only have 110 I haven't plugged it in yet. Too worried it will be damaged. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with a copy of the manual - I've had no luck finding one online at all. Thanks in advance!
  13. I love HTPC's! I've been waiting 20 years for the tech to make it possible. Funny how the DRM on this stuff is the most problematic. I started my build on an HP Media Center and if the video card wasn't so loud (ATI 1950 Pro) it would be perfect. I don't have HDMI but I can watch Blu-Ray's. That's about the only thing that "just worked", even though everything I've read said it can't be done and I didn't spend 1 min. of trouble-shooting time to do it. I wish everything about computers was that easy. For the audio I feed it via coax to a very modest Sony 5.1 receiver driving some JBL880's and I'm pretty happy with everything for the price. I can do some pretty amazing stuff with my network now and for visiting friends the "wow factor" is huge. I'm more concerned right now with streamlining, administration and BACKUPS to notice. The other night I was aware of the "wow" while I was watching a blu-ray, recording wav files to my MD deck and printing MD labels all from the network. My next build is going to focus on silence of components and performance. I really like the ASUS Crossfire III motherboard but wonder if I could get by with a small form factor board? P.S. I don't use a screen-saver, I just turn off the power to the monitor (through the control panel/power options) after 10 min. I've never like screen savers. Or going into sleep/standby. Goofy, huh?
  14. I'd be willing to pull the music off a couple of discs for you. If you want to pay for postage both ways. I'd like give back to the forum that way. Send me a PM if you like with the details.
  15. I've recently started using Sonic Stage 4.3 to listen to LP2 tracks on my laptop and I can't figure out how the auto rating feature works. The only thing I've learned so far is that if you skip a track in the first few seconds it reduces the rating from 3 stars to 2 stars. If anyone has information on how this works I'd really like to know. I can't find anything here or on the internet so I thought I'd give the forum a try. Thanks in advance
  16. When do we go for a ride?!
  17. I just recorded some PBS music shows from a respectable FM tuner to my Type-R deck in LP4. When played back on my speakers , from a Type-S deck, I was surprised: Stereo separation was quite good, noise floor in the basement. Only thing missing was high frequencies. Funny how I don't remember LP4 being that good, I must have done something wrong long ago that made up my mind. And yes, i can pick out PCM in double-blind if I'm familiar with the music This makes me love MD all over again, even more-so!
  18. Mostly nature sounds, birds, etc...
