It´s nearly the same procedure to enter service mode.Beware to press group - at the end to save settings. i did change the value to 23 or 24 can´t remember. therefor i needed the remote.It was A0 from the Factory i think. sorry if i spelled it little complicated. wit the remote Iam not sure if i set it to 23 or 24 but one of them left just english and japanese in the settings whilst the other kept all of these. Stephen you didt really think i would keep it crapped O.o? All of my units are set to maximum via firmware hacks. The most interesting hack was the type-r activation for the R900.Got that from marlene´s Blog i think.

Aight. It just arrived and it takes pictures Now i´ve got twins The 2nd came without headphones again.Nevermind .. wouldn´t use these either. Now i could offer some dedicated usb cable cause i got several from NH1, N10, 1 i bought seperately and the 2 new ones from the DH10p´s. I need new room for my portables now.. they don´t fit anymore on the shelf. No progress with the spare cam although i stay in contact with somebody who has got a spare cam.I assume it´s all about the price. What would you pay for a spare cam ? the white 38EL will now be used for tuning as mine is european and got no custom Eq´s etc. have a nice sunny day

I´m done. Changing a defect and bend Overwritehead from a NH900 (right one) to a good one from a RH910.The previous owner stated he did open it during a hangtime from SoS.The head was down at that time and that idiot tried to eject the disc.That´s why its bend all the way up. Now the NH900 records again was kinda hard but now iam glad it worked.

Ok i did buy his last DH10p too.I hope this one is good from the start. Fascinating how the battery life is that short.Even just listening drains it out that way fast i can´t believe it. btw i love the display.It makes joy looking at in the dark.I use this player only inside and atm in my bedroom to listen to audiobooks. the 2nd is going to arrive in a couple of hours. Iam statisfied to check the Cam Sergio how many hours playback do you achieve with yours? I´ve tried many LIP4´s now and can state its not playing for more than 12 hors at all.And in that 12 hors i did not push any button I think changing tracks and volume many times reduces it quite a bit. Iam glad to have 2 softshell cases ( case logic) that gonna protect these from now on. Send some pics later when it arrives.really this time

alright it arrived.New in Box.. the Headphones are missing in the Box. And the most important thing is.. the Camera don´t work.Just dark Screen :/ sometimes some colored dots but no image. I coould cry. x.x send some pics later...

Alright mine is on the way from Italy.. I´ll post a picture as well when it arrives.Idk how many days it will take but i hope is not too long. Now there´s only a fwe machines i have to get. The RH710 is still missing and the EH-1 EH-930 and last but not least the MD-133 from Onkyo. I hope mine is in the same great condition as yours Thx again for the tip greetz

you kinda missunderstood me.The "import" feature to the Md Deck don´t work because there´s some kind of DRM in the Cd-tex I wasprogramm that writes cd-text without drm. All my burned Cd-r´s work properly in my 400 cd changer.But i can´t import these when recording because they´re protected. Using burrrn is the best choice to burn audio cds from flac wav etc. I wrote it accomplishes replay gain , cd-text of course, and many other features. Nero is no good in relation to burrrn. And i have to wonder why eastbayarb uses a stereo miniplug.It should be mono to work properly as stated in the Manual also. Nevertheless this feature is worthless as long as there´s no choice to split that Drm crap off from the cd-text.

It may be the same as with mine.. Try to grease the sledge where the laser drives above.Mine did his job as new then. btw how about copying cd-text that way.I never ever did have success.I had an issue running the cdx (idk) 200 cd changer with my old JB920 through the A1 connection and getting text protected all the way. I use to burn flac files with burrrn , which is great as it accomplishes replay gain and is freeware , and even those burned cds with text couldn´t be written to the Md. Later on i tried my 400 cdx changer with the JB930 running on A1 II and nothing happens. I gave up trying the cd-text ripping directly. I just edit in SoS or with a Keyboard attached to the Md unit. I wonder if there´s any burn programm that really does write cd-text that can be imported without that stupid Drm feature that seems to come along with it. so good luck trying. greetz

I use a 400 Cd changer from Sony. I think is a problem with your player not with your cd-r´s. Anyway you should listen to a cd playing.If skipping persists you should try to clean the laser.My old changer a 200cd one had problems with the drive.It needed some oil and worked flawlessly .There was also lots of skipping before. It´s always the best way to record cds from a cd player -> Md recorder. With an optical connection you even don´t need a good soundcard. greetz

Your display is worn out due to its oled characteristics. Only help is a replacement display.But iam sure there´s none available .. My oldest RH1 has the left side of the Display dimmed to 50%- Just a matter of time it will completely shut down.Just as thr RH10´s do. Greetz

What a pity your N505 is a deadhead. Try cleaning the magnetic head.If the Problems won´t be solved by that replace the unit. Again.. can you record from line signals without that delete after reinserting ? greetz

Yesterday i installed an Audigy4 SOundcard to my HTPC system and was surprised by a "minidisc" plugin from the Mediasource player. Of course this should be usable with non-creative cards too. Maybe this is what you´re looking for.I didn´t try it because i record via digital out and my trackmarks get set.

The EH1 does lokk the same as the NH1. SIlver.. It was available in Black also.. could have boughth a black one but i didn´t That 930 is pretty awesome although i don´t like the button layout on the back. Hey sescoscuba what Units do you got that aren´t shown.Please tell us..

Update I took myself into the shit of changing some magnetic heads.I had a broken RH910 in stock and recently took the head out of it to fit it into the bend one from the NH900.Made some pictures as well from this.. but in the end i slipped off with my hands and bend the new head.. x.x And if that wasn´t enough suffer the NH900 don´t recognize discs anymore.Iam unsure if its the lasers ribbon cable which is not right in place. I was so fucked up after bending the head that i had to lay all that stuff beside my desk and let some days pass. Repairing a broken JE480 was way easier to me .. took just half an hour. Was kinda worth it as it has only 16h playback and 6(x4=24h) total rec. I don´t like these portables ..in fact these sometimes look as if they should never be repaired. cheers anyone

i know the prices are growing way to high.I´ve been lucky to get one for 20€ and one for 50€.And i also own a M200 which i got for about 80€ from the US.All complete with boxes etc.By the way did anybody know the box of the M200 is way smaller than the RH1´s one? Don´t ask how i did this..I was just at the right place for the right time. Fortunately they all work .. But the 20€ RH1 has its left OLED half dimmed.. so it´s just a listening toy for me

Totally agree with the usage. I just checked my second JE480 for total play/rec stats. Nice to see these were play 18h and rec 6h (means 24h then, right?) It came defect and i was happy to find the problem.The disc didn´t turn but the motor was all good.So i was lucky to just pull up the magnetic plate where the discs sits in and it was working perfectly. It was C13 before that i like these with C13

Now to get this pushed again i compared the entries in the test mode for numers 124 and up.. Another NH900 i own does show some other entries.124 , which is Laser, did have 3B in the defect and 38 in a working USA Model. I tried to change downwards what means more Laser Power, am i right? But i does have no effect. What i am wondering about is entry 130 which is also different.I guess that could be a change in manufacturing process maybe? so that it could not be important. That defect Machine does spin the disc the laser moves up and down.. i just can´t get it ! I also read about the difference in reading pre recorded to self made discs. The defect one reads all original Mds without problems and this take a Laser Power of 0,4mW Reading self made discs needs 0,8mW. Could it be that is the Key? Iam not that sure about setting the value at adress 124 down is triggring the Laser power up.I did read about this a long time ago.. but i guess its just like that. Anybody knows about this? So i thought if the Laser power was bad at adress 124 i could fix it that way. But it don´t work. Now iam up to assimilate the values from the working to the defect one.All the values from the Laser section. Bad idea? With the 'Hold' switch on, and while pressing 'Menu', press FF FF RW RW FF RW FF RW Pause Pause. [FF = Fast Forward | RW = Rewind] 1.) Press the 'Vol +' key to enter the Manual mode. 2.) Press the 'FF' key five times to select the item number 0113. 3.) Press the 'Vol +'/'Vol -'key and set the value that is after "DistFL" to 24. 4.) Press the 'Pause' key on the unit to set the change. 5.) Press the 'Stop' key four times and then remove the battery or whatever is powering the unit. Turn it back on and enjoy! For those of you in Europe, you now have a full equalizer, no restriction on volume, and Kanji/etc support. North American unit owners can do the same for better language support. I think this should work.It´s the 2nd Gen Hack.. Iam not sure bout the Menu key as it could be you should try another key. Does the RH710 have the Menu key..? Just try and figure out.. Greetz

my best NH14´s are from the R900 and some Sharps.They´re still doin up to 90% And for the fake NH14´s .. i did buy 2 in the (fake) original package and they also went great for about a year.Now one is bumped and the other is about 30% They were in that orange karton package.Anybody know these?Look original but they aren´t as the ones from Sony come in a black package afaik.

I got many Minidisc portables and almost every himd unit In fact i even have 1 Oled for the RH10 in stock You posted something about the Laser setinngs in anothet Thread, didn´t you? I did take a look at the total recording time for this unit and it was 55.so not very much.And i did calculate the hex Iam kinda wondering why it does play pre-recorded just as it there never a problem. Could it be because of the different writing or manufacturing of the dicsc? I did read about manufacturing original Albums and it is different from recording as usual. I think i will probably contact Jim but at first i will take a look at the overwrite head from a defect RH910 i got.Maybe they´re nearly the same so that i can change them. I hope somebody who knows can tell me how to do the adjustement values without these alignment discs.I read about that it can be done with a empty disc, a pre-recorded and a recorded one. thx 4 your reply

Hi everyone I just bought a used NH900.It was sold because the display didn´t work.Hoped to repair it and it was easy going.Just a loose connection from the board. The seller stated it was used only a few times and sat on the desk for years , Actually the Unit is in very good condition and looks nearly mint. But by far it doesn´t act like that. The Recording head did get pushed inside so it won´t record.I tried to put it back butt it´s broken as the metal shutter is bend up and unrepairable. The other thing that is causin me to think is the laser. The unit just recognizes and plays pre-recorded discs. It takes 3-5 sec and the disc is recognized.Plays fine too. But every other disc causes it to state "read error" Sometimes a himd disc is loaded with no tracks. I believe i have to calibrate the Laser ? The failure is 06 as stated in the service menu.That is "Acess loop" How can i fix this without having the alignment discs? Ain´t it possible to do so with just an empty disc a recorded and a pre-recorded? I did read about that but not about how to do it. Appreciate any help.. greetz

Yes its display is dying too.I have a RH1 where the left sided display is dim.when powered on and showing the walkman logo you can also see a shiny battery which shouldn´t be displayed at that time.I would say that display is about 50% far from normal contrast.compared to the right side. Iam glad i got 3 other Rh1´s that aren´t showing that signs of use.In Fact that faulty unit is by far the most used and oldest one..
