  1. Try going to Disc Mode in the menu, and select Hi-MD when you get to the MD/Hi-MD selection mode while in it. Don't forget to use the jog dial to go to Disc Mode, press enter, then select Hi-MD, then in recording mode (Rec Mode) select Linear PCM P.S.: your selection setup must be in Advanced instead of Simple to be able to access it. I had to do that with my MZ-NH700 as well.
  2. Mine is pretty long, but I am losing my hair, my common-law wife is readying me for a toupee (!) of all the things. Anyhow, back to the program, I just got my RH1 in from UPS via B & H Photo-Video, and I am quite impressed, in fact I was able to upload my legacy MD collection with no problems what so ever, and, also, without have to go the extra measure of burniong a backup CD of it exclusively for use in SonicStage, BRAVO SONY!!! The MZ-RH1 is a godsend, it is everything we MiniDisc and Hi-MD freaks have waited 15 long years for, total and absolutely unlimited capability to upload and download anything and everything!!! It is now hooked up to my PC as an external drive, that's what I bought it for. As for my NH700 and RH710 units, they are now exclusively used as portable units that I use on the road for listening to.
  3. Me too dude, just a Bainbridge ferry ride and the Hood Canal Bridge cruising distance away from you here in Port Townsend (40 miles "by flight of the crow"), my management got my into MD in 1998, and I got into the MD/Hi-MD hybrid units in 2004, as an upgrade from the MD-only units. ...and they say that we're all hicks here that are still lost in the 1980s (or the 60s with most of the hippie-like folks here in town).... not me!!!
  4. Well, my wife Alice Yantz happens to fit in that "moderately attractive woman" catagory, and her mind is full of good things. Well I guess you could say that I am a bit biased towards Cindy because of our having gone to high school together years ago (1983-84), not only that, but also, because of what she has done since then.
  5. Better yet, how about some of her favorites from our days in high school on MD, that would be better. As far as "swim or sink", her now-trademark "upper-front build" (Howard Stern's favorite part of her body) would act as a make-shift floatation device, so Cindy won't sink if she can't swim, she'll just merely float off into the sunset. BTW, Sorry Cindy Margolis, but I have already been (common-law) married for 18 years, and I would never trade Alice in for anybody else out on the market. But, if I could date a supermodel for a day, Cindy Margolis would be my pick, without question, hesitation, or consultation. No B.S. about that!
  6. They're all sold out now, I hope you got one, I got two of them, one from this particular dealer, and one other one that should be in by next week. Don't forget to hack it. Peace Out, Ray Jackson
  7. Now if you and I can only convert world-renowned model/actress and former Erikson Center classmate of mine from 1984, Cindy Margolis into an MiniDisc/Hi-MD freak like you and I are Bob, you can find out more about her legacy and career and also drop her a line at either http://www.CindyMargolis.com or at http://www.myspace.com/CindyMargolis (I am such a lucky S.O.B. to have gone to high school with her almost 25 years ago!!! )
  8. Thanks for the info, I just a half-hour ago got the MZ-RH1 from B&H Photo & Video http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4415...3_Minidisc.html and as a matter of fact (and for less then the price of one on eBay, as much as a whopping $329.00 not including inferior UPS Ground shipping), the price was so low (only $299.95!!!) that I was able to upgrade to UPS 2 Day Air, it should be in by Friday!!!
  9. That is also what worries me about getting the MZ-RH1, that is, if I transfer the tracks from my master MD to my PC, I am worried that the music on my original MD will be deleted and it will become blank and I will lose my masters that took me years to put together.
  10. That's what I did with my first one, and when the second one comes in later this or next week, I will hack it too. The remote is also why I chose to import the UK/Europe RH710 and do the hack as opposed to getting a US/Canada-market DH710
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Sony-Walkman-MZ-RH...VQQcmdZViewItem ...and don't forget about the good-old volume/EQ hack, as this is a UK/European Version, with that notorious volume cap and no custom EQ's (until you hack into it, the hack is right here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9752 I already own two of them, so I will bow out of this auction, BTW, they ship to the States, and other areas too.
  12. Hey, Bob, I dig the fact that you enjoy visiting my BIGHMW Network of websites, and enjoy my history in the music business, as well as my ongoing other endeavors, including my hardcore allegiance to all that is MiniDisc and Hi-MD (since 1998), remember, as we say: "ATRAC or death!!!" I am better dead being different with a Hi-MD Walkman in my hand than a sheep with an iPod in it (god forbid!!!).
  13. Thanks, dude. That makes my decision easier, I'll get the RH1 from MiniDisco as soon as I get my next paycheck, as they seem to have the lowest price out there. I know now and can rest assured that my all of legacy MDs will still remain fully usable with all music on them intact on my non-Hi-MD car. pro and home decks. Indeed this is great, finally, a fool-proof way to load up my legacy MDs without them losing their contents or having to burn a CD on my HHB CDR-850 just to load up in SonicStage (like I am currently doing right now). Thanks, Ray Jackson
  14. Thanks, but what I also wanted to know was: Will I ever have to worry about the original MD being wiped out (erased) if I transfer the MD to SonicStage when I get the RH1, right? It just merely makes a duplicate of all the contents on the MD onto SS 4.2 CP, even if I have the recording tab slid into the non-recording position, right? Also, more importantly, as some of my digital optical-recorded MDs were originally recorded on non-pro units, does the RH1 ignore SCMS???
  15. In other words, I won't have to worry about the original MD being wiped out (erased) if I transfer the MD to SonicStage when I get the RH1, right? It just merely makes a duplicate of all the contents on the MD onto SS 3.4+, right? I do have a download of SS 4.2CP (made available by our sister affiliate, ATRAC Life) all ready to go except I am worried about three things: 1) losing my MD Simple Burner 2.0 (installed in 2004) 2) losing my WAV conversion Tool I also installed back in 2005 (made available back then by MiniDisco) and 3) It not working with older NetMD/Hi-MD units such as my MZ-NH700 and RH710 your input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Ray Jackson
  16. Basically, I got my MZ-NH700 Hi-MD Walkman in which I have both enjoyed and accessorized extensively for almost three years now, and I don't see the demand from blank MD/Hi-MD media going away anytime soon (although Sony would do anything to get you to get rid of it in favor of another crappy inferior format, such as flash or MP3 players). As far as I am concerned with Sony, I took the link to SonyStyle USA off of my favorites list and have decided to go the route of third-party aftermarket stores (such as MiniDisco, MiniDisc Access and also eBay among others). I have been contemplating getting an RH1 ever since joining this board and have done extensive research on it, the reason why I have been hesitant about getting one is because I am worried about possibly losing my MD masters' content upon upload (transfer) to my PC (I prefer instead to burn CDs of my MD masters before loading them up to SonicStage 3.1 for use with my NH700 and RH710), so I still use the old-school MiniDisc Format greatly and have for almost 10 years, and have this one slogan: "ATRAC or DEATH!!!" I currently own an MZ-1 (for the obvious, the optical output), two NH700's an RH710, two MDX-C5970 HU's, two MDX-65 changers and two Connects2 ASONWHD001 interfaces (one for each car), an MXD-D3, as well as an MDS-E10 pro deck and HHB CDR-850 (in HMW Studio One), and an MDS-JE480 (with a potential to upgrade to an Onkyo MD-133 Hi-MD deck soon), why change because Sony wants us to??? OLD-SCHOOL FOREVER!!!
  17. http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopexd.asp?id=610 They have your stock backlit RM-MC33EL Silver in stock there and it will work with your D-NE900, as I have one as an upgrade for my D-NE700 (as opposed to the non-backlit RM-MC33L)
  18. I DO also, enjoy using my newly-obtained EX90SL's and do find a tremendous improvement in the midrange of then compared to my old EX71SL's as well as 6dB more output (106dB for the 90's to the inferior 71's 100dB). There is not as much bass as the other IEM's I also own, the also newly-obtained black EX85SL's, but there is definitely also more separation and definition in the 90s compared to the 71's bloated bass (even my 85's put out deeper, more-defined bass than them) and closed-type feeling. I am sure glad I got them, I just might get backups of both so I will have a spare in case the ghost is ever given up (fat chance of that happening because the cords are very solid and well-built, and not so rubbery-feeling).
  19. Yup, those are the Australian units. does it (the remote) also display TV 2-13 and the weather stations as well as AM and FM?
  20. I have both a Canadian NH700 and an Australian NH700, which one is yours??? I know the jack/socket is the same on both the 700 and 800 units, so this would be of great help to me as I currently use the Canadian unit while the Aussie version I have as a backup in case it gives up the ghost. Thanks.
  21. I was only thinking of the 38EL BLACK because of the chrome trim on it, which matched that on the RH710 itself. But, maybe its matte black finish might clash with the jet black from of the unit although it matches the back of it perfectly. Perhaps I would also recommend the 55ELK in jet black which has more features than the 38EL and also has that same higher resolution display as the 35ELK and also has chrome trim.
  22. Me too, thank goodness I got two MZ-NH700 SILVER units and also an MZ-RH710 BLACK unit, and an MZ-1 unit as well, maybe I will get a legacy (MD/MDLP/NetMD) unit or two but for me I am all set. It's just a matter of getting tons of blank MDs and Hi-MDs for use with them, with the Hi-MDs used as media storage or with my Connects2 ASONWHD001 interface, while the MDs are used in my MXD-D3 and MDS-JE480 home, MDS-E10 pro and MDX-C5970 car decks and MDX-65 changers. I already have the perfect setups to go with each of my Hi-MD Walkmans, the RM-MC60 and MDR-EX85SL BLACK with my RH710, while the RM-MC40ELK and EX90SL team up well with my NH700. I also own a ton of circa 1998 Case Logic black MD cases to hold all my MDs and units, as well as some Sony factory-OEM (supplied with the units) and specialty MD-NetMD/Hi-MD equipment (remotes, earphones, headphones, cases, etc.) as well for collector's pieces, as they are practically worthless for resale on eBay (compared to the gouged-up Sony MSRP's for them)
  23. Hey dude, do you happen to know where (online) I can get a free download of LAME3.97 for PC, so I can encode my own music onto MP3 format? It would really and I can share my music (as AK47) with all of you or on a message board similar to this. Thanks, Ray
  24. That's what I did with the one I won, he had his original plans to ship throughout Europe only, but, I asked I he would ship here to the States for a bit extra should I win it (Royal Mail Air, registered), and he welcomed me on board the auction. I won it, and two weeks later (due to minor customs delays, no problem with me), it came in, I already picked up an RM-MC60 remote and then got a color-matching pair of MDR-EX85SL BLACK IEM's to go with it. BTW, the RH710 also works with LCD remotes if you want to use one of those, and for that (for a color match), I recommend the RM-MC38EL BLACK as included with the MZ-RH1, (you can probably get it through Sony Canada's DAPC, google it for specific URL). Considering I only use this unit for my inline skate gear (all black), an LCD remote was not necessary for this specific purpose. I do own also an MZ-NH700 that is my regular unit, teamed up with an RM-MC40ELK remote and MDR-EX90SL IEM's.
