  1. Yeah, but this one runs on an internal "AA" battery as opposed to having to use an external clip-on for a AA. That is mainly why I chose to get it, along with my NH700, of course I also own an RH1, but use it only for the purpose of uploading/downloading use for those two units aforementioned here.
  2. ...and the MZ-RH710 (not the DH710) and also the NH700 and NH900. Makes a perfect backup in case the main one goes out on you or for adding an adapter for the RH710 (remember it did not originally come with it, but it will work with it as it has a DC jack as well. Sony listed it in the RH710 manual as being a optional genuine part for it).
  3. Great job!!! That inspires me to perhaps team up my MDX-C5970 and MDX-65 with my NH700 using my Connects 2 box and an XA-C40 changer adapter also.
  4. What color is the 55ELK remote? Pics would be nice please.
  5. Actually I saw yours, except I was mostly talking about those here in The U.S. and Canada, where RH1s are scarce, unless you want to pay $$$ in shipping costs from the U.K. of course, and have to do the ol' volume/EQ hack on one.
  6. ...and here: http://www.minidiscaccess.com/item.html?PRID=1564739 What are you waiting for? The M200 is the same as the RH1 (as if that hasn't been beaten to death yet), the only difference is that it comes bundled with the ECM-DS70P mic as an added bonus. ...here too: http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopexd.asp?id=734 At least THIS may be the only place outside of eBay to carry the RH1, but here it is.
  7. Here is the link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Sony-Walkman-MZ-RH...VQQcmdZViewItem Use this as your playback or personal player and save your RH1/M200 for the true purpose of that unit: uploading/downloading, like I did!!! I DO!!! NOTE: I am recusing myself from this auction because I already have two of them and am fully stocked. Do the volume hack, team this bad boy up with either a 55ELK (like I did) or a 35ELK and a pair of EX85SL IEM's (like I did) and you have yourself a "partner in crime" for life!!!
  8. I enjoy the fact that I no longer have to burn CDs of my custom MD super-compilations in order just to upload them up to my PC, in fact, I consider all of my MD/Hi-MD units to not only be collector's items, but also, useable at the same time, as now both my 2 NH700 and 2 RH710 units have now been reserved exclusively for playback use, therefore saving them for what matters the most, my inline skate gear unit (RH710 with 55ELK and EX85SL all in black), and also my personal unit (NH700 with 40ELK and EX90SL, all in silver), and it sure take the load off of my process of making my Hi-MD compilations of those MDs (downloaded to Hi-MD in 64K A3+ for up to 34 hours per disc!!!) much more simple, and without having to constantly swap cables with my DSC-P73 Cyber-Shot as I now have a permanently-stationed RH1 and MSAC-US40 Memory Stick R/W to go with it. Thank you very much goes out to Sony for at least putting this great unit (and the M200) out, for if they really are discontinuing MD/Hi-MD units that they are at least going out on top just like John Elway did when he won the Super Bowl in 1999. I sure hope that Onlyo or Tascam comes out with that much-awaited pro Hi-MD deck so I can put it in HMW Studio One as a successor to my well-used (and well-appreciated) MDS-E10 Pro MDLP deck.
  9. That's good Wiz, it's just too bad that U.S. owners can't get their boxes reflashed dut to the fact that Aardvark Multimedia (holder of the former distrubtorship known as Connects 2 USA, now defunct) dropped the Connects 2 lineup last year and now we have to send them direct to Connects 2 Headquarters in the U.K., which I wil do via registered Airmail. I just wonder if they reflash unmarked, (but still genuine) Connects 2 boxes, as when I was in the process of cleaning up a couple of used ones removed the labels off the boxes , unfortunately including the (now-known) serial number and other ID stickers, but I am sure they will hopefully understand it was in the process of cleaning them up, and I had no knowledge that it was the serial number on the bottom of them (with the "Connects 2" decal on the top of course). Also I have a chrome Connects 2 box I bought last year at Crutchfield (when Connects 2 USA was around), I just wonder if they will reflash that one too.
  10. Then indeed it is (or could be) a firmware issue, you could have an older C2 unit, visit the Connects 2 website at http://www.connects2.com (they are based in the UK), your box may need a firmware upgrade, you can ask them in their forums about it (they do have a contact address and they do respond very well). They can give you the mailing address in the UK to send your box to get the firmware upgrade needed for it, and I suggest you send it via registered Airmail, so it will get there in the fastest and most secure way possible, they will be more than glad to upgrade the firmware for your box promptly. As for use with second and third generation Hi-MD units, I have never tried it either with RH710 or RH1, only my NH700, but then again maybe I should get all 4 of my boxes upgraded as well so I can use those just in case my backup NH700 ever gives up the ghost after the first one goes.
  11. What Walkman are you using it with? I happen to use the NH700 with mine and the album/artist/track titles come up with it. Try reseting the HU, there should be a micro button behind the face plate, after you remove it, known as the reset button, try pushing it with a pin or other pointy object to reset your head unit, with the ignition in your car turned OFF and the key out of the ignition (NOT in ACC), then your unit should work well, but also, check your connections, any Hi-MD that uses an LCD remote should work fine with this unit.
  12. I happen to own a few (about 4) Connects 2 ASONWHD001 interfaces, which allow me to use my Sony MZ-NH700 connected to my Sony MDX-C5970 HU in both of my vehicles (the extra two units were bought strictly as either backups with the cords being used a either replacements or spares), so I just wondered what your experiences with this wonderful one-of-a-kind (since Sony will never produce one of their own) unit have been, good or bad? As they say in the sports/talk radio biz, "the lines are open right now folks, so get on the horn, and get in the game right now!"
  13. Now that is more like it. Have her force her own ears to have to listen to inferiority, The Source will soon be calling her way, then she will join you and all of us, and get an RH1/M200, and get in the game with us on the MDCF, and boast about how great ATRAC (and A3 and A3+) and Linear PCM sound when compared to that over-hyped iCrap. ATRAC or DEATH!!!
  14. WHOA! I think that since it has gone this far, I think I'll bring up a Cindy Margolis topic in the off topic forum while I'm at it. HERE is something that will get you guys minds off of those iPods and other MP3/DAP crap so-called "units": Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Cindy Margolis This shot of her was taken at the world premiere of S.W.A.T. back in 2003 Now, Rich, I think the time has come to close this one, and guys, let's get back to the program at hand, MD and Hi-MD, and remember my cool now-trademark pro-MD/Hi-MD slogan, folks: ATRAC or DEATH!!!
  15. My RH1 was bought exclusively for and is used strictly as a data drive/uploader/downloader, so I won't have to worry (too much) about those issues. As for playback, I have my two NH700's and two RH710's for that purpose. For live recording, it will be a tossup between the RH1 and NH700 (the RH710 is not used for this purpose because of it lacking a mic input jack).
  16. True, the EX90's (I have the EX90SL variant for my NH700) don't isolate sound like the EX71/81 did, but, they do nice, tight bass (not overpowering but certainly not drowning either like the 71's did), clear and more-defined mids and highs than the 71/81 ever did, and the EX90's, and their sister pair, the EX85SLs I also own, for my RH710, definitely sure as hell sound better and more rounded-off sound than the old 71/81's ever did, plus, the cord is better built on them, and the 90's handle twice as much power (200mW compared to the 71/81's 100mW), plus, they have much more sensitivity (106 dB for the 90's and 105 dB for the 85's) compared to the 71/81's (both 100 dB), so would definitely recommend them. As for noise canceling/isolating in this 2006 series, I recommend the MDR-NC22, same build as the 85/90, but, with 12 dB noise canceling (80%!!!) You can read my ALC/MDCF-exclusive review at this link on them: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3403
  17. C'mon dude, you guys taking about crap/inferior DAP/MP3 this and that on this, a MiniDisc/Hi-MD forum is just as off base as me boasting about supermodel Cindy Margolis and my unique connection with her from high school in L.A. almost 25 years ago on this board. It's just not appropriate for this particular category of topic, that MP3/DAP talk belongs (or is more appropriate for) on our sister forums on the ALC (ATRAC Life Colloquium), but not here, please. It is OK to bash MP3/DAP/iPod units on this forum, but not to overtake the specific subject matter of an MD/Hi-MD-related subject though. ATRAC or DEATH!!!
  18. Dudes, I guess you forgot about the UK-made Connects2 ASONWHD001 Sony Walkman to Sony HU adapter that is readily available all over Europe. You can probably get one though fellow ALC user SteeleUK (who hails from the UK). Ask him about acquiring one for you, hey, he even takes PayPal, and from previous experience I can tell you that the Connects2 adapter is a godsend and an abgsolute must for all of us or any other Sony HDD/Hi-MD/MD Walkman owners. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  19. My setup involves an MDX-C5970 AM/FM/MD receiver, along with both an MDX-65 6-MD changer, and soon, my MZ-NH700 Hi-MD Walkman hooked up to the Connects2 ASONWHD001, (when both the changer and the NH700 are hooked up through the facilities of an XA-C40 multi-changer adapter, that part coming soon).
  20. Cool, maybe I'll save some $$$ by getting the same convenient features in the 105FX as opposed to the rack-friendly 133 unit. As for the hack being only for EU-market portable units, I already own TWO MZ-RH710 Walkmans, and successfully did the needed volume/EQ hack, as you mentioned, and thanks for the added info, hopefully someone will have the DIY optical out add-on (or at least a link to it) on this site. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  21. I have been seriously thinking of ditching my MDS-JE480 and getting the MD-133 for over a year now, it's just that I have been unemployed (until tomorrow, YEA!!!) for the past 8 months and haven't been able to afford one. I already have downloaded the English translation of the user manual (thanks to MiniDisco) and since I have owned MD decks since 2000, I most certainly could adapt myself to this unit, but, one question for Kanako: You mentioned having to do a volume hack to get maximum output, is it capped for European use? If there is a hack available, please post it here for me, as it would be very useful and a perfect successor to my JE480 unit, and for a long time at that. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  22. Pics coming soon, Wiz!!! Also, this just in, the Roman Characters read differently on my D-NE700 Atrac CD Walkman as opposed to either my RH710 or NH700 where they read thin and more defined as opposed to large and separated (spaced apart) on the NE700 (and I assume most other CD Walkmans). Also, I intend to test it later on tonight with my RH1, as I heard on this board that it reads differently on it than usual as noted on this link: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...p;hl=RM-MC55ELK C YA!!! Ray Jackson "AK47" P.S.: MP3s (not downloadable ah, shucks!) and videos of myself available now at http://www.MySpace.com/BIGHMW I invite all of my colleagues to check them (and me) out on it.
  23. All correct. but, is the DC charger compatible with USB?, That would be perfect for using MY RH1 with my Sony HU (the MDX-C5970).
  24. Speaking of that Connects 2 adapter, SteeleUK has a few more for sale right now on our sister forum, the ALC: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2282 PM him or e-mail him about getting a few for each of YOUR rides, like I have. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  25. Yes it does, in matte black, along with the rest of the fuselage, to go along with its predominantly-jet black tips, just perfect for my inline skate gear setup.
