  1. They (the RH1 and M200) are both the same unit. The only major difference between the two, is that the M200 includes as a bonus, a Sony ECM-DS70P detachable one-point stereo microphone in the deal. Basically it is the RH1 with a mike thrown in the deal. The only other difference is the model number, the same as the 2005-model RH10/M100. As for PC/Mac-compatibility issues, the RH1 and M200 both work with PC and (to some extent) the Mac. If you own either/or, you'll be just fine. As for the availability of the RH1, they are practically (as of this writing) slim and none (and slim just left town), but you should have no issues with the M200, because it is the same as the RH1, except for the added mic.
  2. I am thinking about getting a pair of the new HD Sony Altus MDR-D777SL (Japan Version, available through Audio Cubes or "buyfromjapan" on eBay) headphones to go along with my MZ-NH700 and tandem them up with my twin remotes (my newly-acquired RM-MC39LT and the RM-MC40ELK) and my MDR-EX90SL N.U.D.E EX IEM's, I just wondered what some of you might think of them for those who have heard them. Are they as good as they look, they look real stylish and I wonder about their durability over the years as well as their sound quality, especially with a 5 mW per channel unit like the NH700.
  3. I got one just this past Wednesday and it works absolutely perfect !!! Now I am ready for the Seattle Mariners 2008 MLB season if I happen to go to a ball game at Safeco Field next year (or anywhere else for that matter). The color scheme also matches my silver NH700 as well, a PERFECT setup, works just like I hoped it would.
  4. I think you actually mean the RM-MC35ELK remote, do you? When it comes to that remote, yes I believe that it will work with the RH710, but if you meant the RM-MZ35 (I had never heard of an MZ-R/E35 MD unite before, then you might be outta luck there, as those older MD remotes work only with the older units.
  5. That's why I pay a bit more for Sony MD's and Hi-MD's. Hey, they invented the format, so it's almost expected that they be top quality. As for Memorex, both they and their blank CD's and MD's suck now at these days, that company is nothing compared to their cassette-tape heydays in the mid-late 1970's (remember their old slogan, "is it live, or is it Memorex?") I do.
  6. VERY FAST shipping got here over the weekend (sent Saturday, arrived Monday), great service, and great communication AAAAA+ Highly recommended, will soon be a repeat customer.
  7. Got it this morning!!! THANKS!!! Positive comments will be left for you later this afternoon. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  8. When I joined the MiniDisc Revolution in 1998, I originally used nothing but Sony Prism 74 and 80-minute MD's, then a few years back my management suggested to me that I should try the Sony Premium Gold Series MD's, and today I continue to use both then and the 2nd-generation "Blue" Series (HMD1GL) Hi-MD discs exclusively.
  9. I have one question about the remote for use with the MZ-NH700, as I own both a Canadian unit and an Australian unit, do all 4 of the band functions (AM, FM, TV and WB) work with your NH700, as I am looking to get an RM-MC39LT (U.S. version, with all 4 bands) remote of my own from Sony DAPC. Also which country is your NH700 from, Canada or Australia, so I will know which NH700 of mine to use with the 39LT remote. Also did you have to do any hacks on the NH700 in order to get all 4 bands to work? If so, tell me which code to put in so I can use the 39LT on both. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  10. Check your PayPal account, my payment has already been sent as of 5 minutes ago. Thanks, Ray Jackson
  11. I myself like using the Sony DCC-E230 3v DC adapter with my MZ-NH700 when hooked up to the Connects 2 unit in my car, but the RadioShack version seems to be working out great for you, so more power 2 ya bro!
  12. Hey guys, I am a little bit frustrated over trying to order from MiniDisc Australia, http://www.minidisc.com.au/ as I am trying to get a third MZ-NH700 http://www.minidisc.com.au/sony-mznh700-si...-mic-p-848.html as a backup just incase maybe 10-15 years down the road just in case my other two ever go out on me, but also because they (currently) ship only to residents of Australia and New Zealand, do they not know thw global market (Mainly the U.S.A.) that would definitely clean out their remaining stock? BTW, fellow RH1 fans and fellow MD and Hi-MD enthusiasts, they DO have a ton of MZ-RH1 units for sale over there http://www.minidisc.com.au/sony-mzrh1-mini...-now-p-862.html and I only wish that they would ship worldwide like everyone else does (MiniDisco, MiniDisc Access, Audio Cubes, etc.), because I know about 60,000 passionate MiniDisc-heads on this board that would jump on what could be the last opportunity to get these great units and continue to loyally support the ATRAC/3/3Plus codecs long after Sony ditches us.
  13. I tried looking for it on eBay and also on eBay UK, and none to be found, they are also not in the Sony USA site. I hope that will change soon, as this would be perfect for using the RH1 in the car! Or does Sony USA (once again) not give a damn about its customers , much like they denied us here in the States of great ATRAC CD units like the D-NE700 (I own two of them from Australia) and D-NE800 (Asia/Japan-markets only, didn't get one) CD Walkman units and also the MZ-NH700 (Canada and Australia) and MZ-RH710 (U.K., hacked) Hi-MD units that I had to import, thanks to the good folks at eBay, I was able to get these units.
  14. Yo, sector, check your PM, I sent you a message saying I am still interested in the remote, as I get my paycheck this coming Friday, I will send you my mailing address in which to send the remote, after you get my money order for it, which will be mailed out to you no later than Saturday. I just need to be reminded of how much it will be so I can get the proper amount.
  15. Just one question on that particular Howard Stern show.... Was Cindy Margolis a guest on that episode you did onto MD? Cindy is my hero and sole role model for me in the entertainment business, as an independent musician as well as a former high school classmate of hers (Erikson Center, 1983-84), we have a tremendous respect for each other that has grown over the past 23 years since we both graduated.
  16. I owned two of them at one time (around 2004) along with about 4 MZ-E40s and a couple of MZ-F40s as well, but MDLP came calling (through the MZ-R700 and MZ-G750), and so did internal single "AA" battery use, so I either gave them out to friends to get 'em into MD or sold them on eBay (big mistake!).
  17. Deep Purple- Shades Of Deep Purple (1968, remastered in 2000)
  18. I will always continue to support the MiniDisc and Hi-MD formats, hey if it ain't broke, why fix it? As far as versatility is concerned, MiniDisc is king, the capability to re-arrange, edit, move or record tracks over and over again is the one plus that the beloved MD will have over anything that is out now or was out in the past, and probably will be better than stuff coming out in the future. The ability of Hi-MD units, especially the RH1/M200 to upload and download at will off of any non-SonicStage source (uploading) is not only a godsend for all of us with legacy discs but also for those who want to backup their computer files in case their computer ever crashes due to a virus, and I think that is very important that we have these multiple formats of removeable hard-disc drives (CD, DVD, MD, Hi-MD, Zip, Floppy, etc.) in case, especially us PC users with all the malware and viruses we face out there (Guitarfxr and the other Mac users are so damn lucky they don't pick on them like they do on us). I am currntly eyeing some other Hi-MD units out there, including an NHF800 to go in my Hi-MD family along with my 2 NH700s, my 2 RH710s and my RH1. I am also thinking about acquiring some NH600D units too for use with my Connects 2 units in my cars, just for the remote-control access that the conventional NH600 does not have.
  19. Looking carefully at the design of the MDR-EX700SL units, they kind of look like a crossover of the MDR-A34 headphones (vertical in-the-ear 16mm driver design) with the MDR-EX71 IEM's, a very interesting combination to say the least, the 16mm drivers put out a whopping 108 dB at only 16 ohms (like the A34 units do) with the inner ear design (like the EX71 units have) that the N.U.D.E EX Monitor Series are legendary for, but as far as the $317.00 USD price tag for these is concerned, OUCH! They make the price tag of the EX90LP/SL ($90.00 USD) seem more like a bargain, with an even more affordable version available (MDR-EX85LP/SL at $45.00 USD) at that. I hope that Sony will make a similar bargain-priced version of the EX700SL available to all of us who don't have the mass $$$ for this seemingly fantastically-designed unit.
  20. Hey, I almost forgot about Star Trek and Dr. Who, (Star Wars was a film so I didn't mention that, as I was thinking TV series only) thanks for bringing those classics up, I bet you didn't know about UFO, that Gerry Anderson-produced series was on British TV for one season (1970-71) and then gained a huge cult following worldwide. it is now on DVD. Check out its official website at http://www.ufoseries.com
  21. But, as with its predecessors, Guitarfxr, it will always have its full share of loyal followers, just like cassette and 8-track tape before it. But along with DAT and DCC, MiniDisc (and Hi-MD) will always be respected by many enthusiasts such as you and me as the ultimate recordable media format, as CD-R is one-time use only, and Zip disc is too large and too cumbersome and DCC and DAT are exactly that.....tape, that is uneditable and not as versatile as MD/Hi-MD. Try re-arranging, erasing or editing tracks on a tape format like you can on MD or Hi-MD. I believe that MiniDisc and Hi-MD will resurface (not under Sony) to have a cult following that wll be beyond legendary, much like many of those sci-fi shows from the 60s and 70s (i.e.: The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, UFO, Space: 1999, etc.) that originally failed in their network slots, only to (in rerun form) gain millions more loyal viewers and form into cult following status that prompts an eventual return or remake of that show (or format). That is what I believe will happen to MiniDisc and Hi-MD, and whether Sony likes it or not, the (MiniDisc and Hi-MD) format will never die or just simply go away as long as folks like you and me continue to both use and support it.
  22. Check out this B.S. I found out about our beloved ATRAC on the ALC: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4128 This, I am sure, pisses off everybody on this board, and I am one of them, and I don't blame any of you. Now more than ever, ahould I keep and support all of my current MD and Hi-MD units and get more on eBay instead of selling them. This is the 11th hour for our beloved formats, and time to stock up on blanks, because as soon as the units become history, soon the blanks and all the accessories for MiniDisc and Hi-MD units (remotes, short SL and SP series headphones, cases, etc.) will be too.
  23. I might as well get another RH1 as a backup from MiniDisc Canada, and if they are sold out, then I will go for an M200.
  24. Screw those, those are fine if you want oper-air earbuds. Otherwise, if you like in-ear phones, get the EX90LP (or better yet, the EX90SL if you have a remote controlled DAP or Walkman, I happen to own an EX90SL for use with either my D-NE700 (with the RM-MC33EL Silver) or MZ-NH700 (with the RM-MC40ELK), and they are indeed great sounding, great dynamic response throughout, the bass is not overkill, the highs are high, and unlike the EX71SL's, the ones that these replace, there is actually great midrange presence, and all that for only $99 USD at the most. While the EX90LPs are available everywhere (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.), the EX90SL units are available only in japan, or through Audio Cubes through this link: http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Headpho..._Earphones.html You can also get the from an eBay seller named "BuyFromJapan", which is where I got mine.
