    Sony NWS706F

    Don't worry, it works.
  2. Not sure, but it certainly reminds me of the iPod when you eject the iPod (in iTunes) while it's still connected to the USB. It eventually shows a large image of a battery charging on the screen. Could you listen to the player when it's charging via the AC adapter? Maybe that's the difference?

    Sony NWS706F

    1. Yes, it supports MP3 VBR files. I have a new and an old mp3 player and they both support it without having to convert.
  4. Not much, but here's what I got: NW-E405 black & NW-A808 black
  5. If you're talking about SonicStage, I think they're just some Dynamic Playlists that you can transfer to your player. The Dynamic Playlist sort of acts like Smart Playlists in iTunes. It just filters tracks in your Library to what you want. In your case, the 'Tracks not transferred' is pretty self-explanatory, they're just 10 random tracks you haven't transferred to your player yet. I still haven't found much use of the Dynamic Playlists yet (I like the sorting done in iTunes' smart playlists), but if you create a new Dynamic Playlist in SonicStage, you could narrow the songs down by artist, genre, transfer count, rating, date released, year released, and you can limit the amount of tracks, or to a time. Sorry if this sounds confusing, you'll just have to experiment using the Dynamic Playlist yourself.
  6. When you right-click the show in itunes, and go to 'show description', it displays the show URL. Just add this URL to Image Converter's RSS Manager and it should work. Hope this is what you're talking about.
  7. Nevermind, Shinji Ikeda responded to my PM, here's what he said: Please make sure that you are using SonicStage 4.3. When Use Intelligent Features is set then it should work. You did say that Library:Advance Mode was set when looking at Unit Information? So when you connect the Walkman, the right side says Setting the artist initials... , updating ratings..., then nothing (but displaying the tracks on the NW-S800). Try to listen to a couple of songs. Reconnect the NW-S800 and start SonicStage and allow it to do its thing. Disconnect and check if the information has been updated. If you have been listening to songs, then skip this step. Press reset on the right-side of the player. Finally, if this does not work. Remove all tracks from the NW-S800. Toggle the Intelligent Features off and on by pressing OK both times. Reset the player, and retransfere all your track. I had my player about 3 days before activating the intelligent feature and did not have the problems you are having. The grayed out indicates that there is no information. You must be using SonicStage 4.3 that came with your player, and you have played some songs since the last time you. The italicized part is what made the Intelligent functions work on mine. Hope this might help others as well. Thanks Shinji!
  8. Hey everyone. I can't seem to get any of the Intelligent Features to work on my NW-A800 player. This includes: (1) My Favorite Shuffle (or Favorite 100) (2) Playback History I tried to follow the instructions to uninstall and reinstall SonicStage, but I didn't delete everything that was suggested (I have a Vaio computer). Anyone have any suggestions to get the Intelligent Features to work? Thanks for your help.
  9. To be honest, I just use a cloth, nothing too special . Just open the case, take the player out, and clean away. I didn't plan on getting a case at first, but then I was afraid of dropping it and cracking the screen. I guess I'll open and clean the case every week or two? I dunno. About the player itself... AWESOME! After using an NW-E405 for a year or so, I needed to upgrade... badly. I'm no audiophile, but the player itself gives you so much customization, especially the equalizer settings. I've tried my sister's Nano, and the equalizer presets there don't seem to make any difference, whereas with the 800 series, the changes are very obvious. The hiss on the 800 series is very faint, compared to my E405. Colour is amazing, video playback is great, navigation is quick and easy, BATTERY LIFE! and the supplied headphones are perfect. I only have a few issues with it though, most of which are software issues: (1) What is this Favourite 100 thing? I don't think it is supported by SonicStage yet. (2) I wish SonicStage had some type of 'Smart Playlist' thing that itunes has. We should be able to see stuff like number of times played, and customize how the playlist is sorted in the playlist. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Sure, the iPod nano isn't horrible, but there's better alternatives out there. This is one of them. (as long as SonicStage works for you) It's a shame that people judge the quality of these players based on past experiences with sonicstage. They're missing out
  10. Oh yeah, if you live in Canada and purchase an A800 player, you get $10 off of one of these accessories: *** @ the Sony Store *** (1) CKMNWA800 silicone case (2) CKLNWA800B/W leather case (3) ACU50A USB charging adapter So no discount on these plastic ones Hope this helps some people.
  11. Seems like I'm the only one who purchased the plastic shell case Here's some pics I took of it. Overall this case is great, there's just two parts that snap together. My only issue is the dust that manages to get inside. Meh! I'd rather have dust than scratches, right?
  12. I was hesitant at first to buy one, since Sony might offer something better later this year, but when that salesman handed me one to test out, I just couldn't resist buying one lol. I ended up getting the A808 model to replace my old E405. There's only one word to describe the player... amazing. The rich colour, easy navigation, video playback, blah blah blah. At first I thought I wouldn't use the video function but after seeing how smooth and beautiful the picture is, I'll be watching video clips on it everyday. I even got to design a skin (www.spideyskins.com) for the walkman, some spiderman promotional thing. I'm no audiophile, but DAMN this sounds awesome (but then of course, I was listening to Atrac+ 48kbps before ) If anyone's unsure about getting one, just go to the store, hold one in your hand and be amazed... At least in Canada, for the same price as an iPod Nano, you're getting so much more. My only issues with it is the software. I tried to encode a movie trailer (quicktime) but it stops at around 14% and eventually fails. It probably has something to do with codecs on my computer... meh! I'll try to figure it out. Blame Atraclife? More like blame Sony for making a great product
  13. open the autorun.inf in notepad. where it says icon=NW-E00xx.ico, change it to icon=NW-E00xV.ico You could also edit the label keyword to display whatever you want.
  14. If anyone's interested, the operating manual is up already on the Sony Support page for Canada: http://esupport.sony.com/CA/perl/model-doc...s.pl?mdl=NWA808
  15. $135?!? Damn... and to think I bought my E405 last year for $150 If only I wasn't broke right now ...
  16. I found another video review from generationmp3.com, here's the link:
  17. I'm definitely considering getting the new NW-A800. I only have the NW-E405 right now, and I simply love this device (except the small capacity). Small, compact, great battery life, good quality, stuff you expect from Sony, etc... First of all, the A800 is priced the same as the Nanos up here in Canada (MSRP of $169 for 2GB, $229 for 4GB and $299 for 8GB), and you're getting the same capacity, bigger screen, good headphones and more features. I always felt that Sony overpriced their DAPs (bought NW-E405 for $150 back in the day), but not with this player. And I actually want to listen to my mp3s as is, instead of converting to atrac3+@48kbps to fit more in 512MB I like the video and photo playback, even though it's a little gimmicky on a tiny screen. I've never had issues with SonicStage like everyone else, so I'm not too worried about the software. It probably affected the newer Walkmans. It's not the best program out there, but it does the job... eventually. The A800 UI looks really good. The whole search by letters thing (if you see the preview, it's actually A-D E-H ... not like the official pictures A-M N-Z) will cut down so much time, and the now playing screen looks very nice (colour, album art!). Everybody check out this preview (not the silva bokis one): http://www.generationmp3.com/index.php/200...w-a800-par-gmp3 And plus, it's Flash! I don't have any HDD-based players, but you hear so many things about dropping them, lagging, etc. However, I want to see it up close first, and possibly wait to hear what other Walkmans Sony's announcing this year before buying it. The only things I wish they included in the A800 series is noise-canceling, and an FM Tuner. Other than that I think this is a step in the right direction for Sony.
  18. http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4 Did you take a look at this thread yet? It works with korean characters on my nw-e405, so it should probably work with chinese. Hope this helps.
