I use the complete US version, along with connect store with no other tweaks. I even have some songs from the store. All that is requires is Apploc and unicode tags (the correct encoding should work too, eg big5 for traditional, gb for simplified, shift-jis for japanese, etc...) EDIT: I would like to point out that SonicStage does not support ID3v2.4 tags. And, like duh2k pointed out, check to make sure SonicStage is seeing the tags, not just the file names. Another thing I'd suggest is to drop ID3v1 tags from your files. They do not officially support unicode.

My suggestion: Uninstall SS. Uninstall OpenMG. Reboot. Reinstall SS w/ OpenMG newest version. Do not do any of the registry edits or whatever that is mentioned anywhere. Obtain Microsoft AppLoc to run SS in whatever language you need to transfer. Run SS with AppLoc and add music to SS library. If music tags are legible in SS, transfer songs. If this still doesn't work, convert all your tags to unicode with a tag editor that supports unicode, such as mp3tag Use AppLoc so that the culprit tags are converted to something legible for mp3tag editor, which will save the tags as unicode. ID3v2 tags are required. ID3v1 tags do not support unicode (this may very well be the cause of your problems). Sony's flash players since the NW-Exxx series has not required any of the region codes needed previously. These are only for MD devices. Additionally, SS 4.x has upgraded OpenMG library backend to be unicode, and thus any remaining registry entries are no longer needed. However, SS itself still does not support unicode, which is quite absurb considering how minimal the effort required to convert to unicode is. While I do not have an A8xx to say this will work 100%, I see no reason why the system should differ since I've had no problems with NW-E5xx, NW-S2xx, NW-S7xx

To make things even more confusing, none of Sony Japan's official pictures show the backlighting, but all user pictures I've seen so far do. Maybe Japan's models differ from the rest of the world, or it's all photoshop!

Are the colors for the 4GB model in your store correct? I ask because on EBay the Japanese models have violet instead of blue for the 4GB model. I would like a 4GB blue if it was available =)

I do not have nor have I seen this player so I cannot make claims, but here are a few things I have found: One ebay listing of the Japanese model claims that it comes with MDR-EX082. This may be limited to Japanese models. One ebay listing of the Japanese model claims that it uses OLED as a color LCD. This should not be limited to Japanese models. And to make things clear, OLED does not mean it is not LCD, and vice versa. However, if there is noticeable backlighting then it is definitely not OLED.

Pink 1GB @ Buy.com And, any idea why ebay is flooded with 2GB models for less than $100? Are these the ones sold by woot.com?!! http://search.ebay.com/NW-S705_W0QQfromZR4...titleZNWQ2dS705

I'm running English Windows, but I have both Japanese and Chinese displayed on my player. The trick is to use AppLoc and run SS in Japanese mode while you transfer Japanese files and in Chinese mode while you transfer Chinese files.

And unfortunately, sony style is the only place selling it T-T

Are you saving the installer somewhere before running it? My guess is that the temporary files are being cleared before installation finishes.

$142.49 for me

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....&Dept=audio Pink & Violent for 1 GB, Black for 2GB.

My guess is that it will be similar in experience to the E00x series. The songs transfer, but the player cannot play them. I've also heard something about SonicStage being able to play them however.

If you guys bothered to read the mini-review in this forum at http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2434 you would already have your answer. The noise-cancelling circuit is on the device itself, not the earphones. The earphones simply include mic pickup to perform noise-cancelling. This line-in is provided through a special headphone jack that still regular headphone plugs.

Why is it that only in the US do we get shafted on color choices?
-
Available on Amazon now for those in the US. $149.95 shipped. No tax unless in NV.
-
It's now "Add to cart" instead of "Pre-order" at US's Sony Style website. Seems like they play AAC too
-
Yeah, like the EU requirement now that Microsoft remove security features from Vista such as firewall, spyware removal, etc. Everyone will just blame Microsoft in the long run if they follow through with it. Sorry for being off topic.

Yeah and consumers here complain about high prices >< go figure. I might just wait until there have been some reviews

It seems that the 2GB model only comes in black. Only the 1GB variation seems to have a color choice. Obviously, we only have black in the US >< And even if we had the 1GB one it would probably just be the silver one. Right now SonyStyle has the 2GB black model for pre-order for $150 with free shipping. I'm sort of tempted but the mention of the potential lack of kanji (unicode now on NW series so I think it should be fine) support has me hesitating just a little. Seems like we have a 1GB model too..how did I miss it earlier ><
-
At first it seemed like a typo from 2.01 to 2.1, but the site also seems to be claiming AAC support, not that I read French. Maybe someone can try, since I don't have an A608 ^^

I'm not sure if my player is using the proper font, but my Chinese characters look fine. A bit blocky maybe but I think that's because the screen is so low-res. It's been a while since I had Japanese songs on my player so I don't know if it is display that properly, although I don't recall the fonts being off. I do use the US firmware. What firmware/software you use should not change the characters the player can display. The player itself is unicode capable, although there is the slight possibility that the fonts are included with the firmware. Give me a line of Hebrew text and I can tag a mp3 with it and put it on and see if it displays properly.

You could try resetting it with the reset button on the back. I've never actually used that so I'm not 100% sure on how it works, but I have reset my player by taking it apart and unplugging the battery when it got stuck with the OLED screen off >< (Taking it apart is not recommended!)

I have the same problem with all songs I did not purchase with this installation of SS 3.4. Previous songs that I purchased (well, used free coupon ^^) cannot be transferred after reinstalling/formatting my pc. Of course, I did re-authorize the pc. But all the songs have a remaining transfer count of 0. I asked connect support about this and they say, sorry we can't help you.

If you're interested, there is a 3.3 full installer available for download. If you would like to try 3.4, you can PM me a request. No warranty is offered on my 3.4 installer, although support will be given on a best effort basis.

I've always had problems when installing a new OpenMG without uninstalling the old one and rebooting first, although not an installation failure. The new SonicStage 3.4 does come with an updated OpenMG compared to 3.3, not sure if it is newer than what comes with Connect Player.
