Cool, Ishi. Dex, on your Father's installation, go to Options > Settings and make sure the good stuff is checked [auto updates, etc]. You may also want to click on "General" within this and select Novice User if he's not too keen on this stuff for easier functionality.

Nope, you cannot record from the radio..

If you've never seen it before, learn more here: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s...re/default.mspx I've been tweaking with this program for a few days now and to be honest, I'm actually impressed. On two seperate machines infected with spy/ad-ware, it has consistantly found things that ad-aware could not. It is somewhat "bloaty", but nothing that I'd really gripe about. Featuring consistant definition updates, a shared ad/spy-ware feature [i.e. if someone else who uses the program gets a new kind of spyware, it detects it and updates everyone else's definitions] and alot more, I'm actually going to keep it on my system. You can download it here. Don't worry firefox/opera/stolen copy of XP/etc users, you can click on "Continue" within that page and skip the genuine Windows validation [and also avoid ActiveX prompts]. Anyone else use this? I'd like to hear your impressions.

Good luck..did you isolate what the problem is?

Reinstall via the directions found within the FAQ. If you follow the directions as they are, you will have nothing but Sonicstage 2.3 and Simple Burner 2 on your computer.

My girlfriend said that in the movie White Noise [2005], a MD recorder was used to record paranormal stuff. I never saw the movie so I really am not sure what she is describing, but I know for sure she has the MD eye.

Completely uninstall via the directions in the FAQ. Restart the computer a few times. Install Sonicstage 2.1 from your cd. Install Sonicstage 2.3 on top of that without uninstalling anything. You get 2.3 from here: http://forums.minidisc.org/images/SS23ENG.exe

I think you're a loon with a shade of dork, that's all.

Which is a semi valid point..there is a strong open source community behind the iPod, but you'll pretty much find that with any hdd player community.

Installing SP2 may not fix the problem, but at least it will help us rule alot of things out whilst troubleshooting. I would recommend doing a complete reinstall [via the directions in thet FAQ found within this forum] after the SP2 install.

People usually don't stir up until there are results, unfortunately. Just being honest.. But I am very excited about this venture. I believe that if this spread around the internet, it could be an invaluable tool for the community. And yes, the SP2 warning will suffice. I may also compose a small FAQ or perhaps add the Hi-MD faq to it, and virus-removal tips and a few other things in the help files. Let's max this installer out and make it the best.

I could make any additional images if you'd like, zero, or any other sort of assistance..

Ray Charles, Anthology..a nice album from 1988 that doesn't experience the supersampling and restorative effects of today's cds. Perfect sound, and one of the best Ray compilations I've heard in a while.
-
At least you're getting something. I could've stayed quiet and been a true jackass.

Keep it in here mate, no need to deviate..
-
Format the disc via the unit itself. This is explained in your instruction manual.. ..try transferring after that.

Bagged n' tagged from here. Too bad they don't cite any MD examples all the way up there on Everest. It would be interesting to see what high altitudes [in this sense] could do to such a device.

Solid phone..how much does it cost over there?

Download Sonicstage 2.3 here: http://forums.minidisc.org/images/SS23ENG.exe. Do not uninstall anything prior, just install on top of your current installation. Hit this thread back up when you're done and we'll go from there.

Okay, I will be working on the way the forum facilitates search engine spiders for the next few days. Because of my tweaking, you can now see most of the major search engine spiders in the "Who's Online" list at the bottom of the index. I'm hoping that I've correctly identified Sony's bots, but time will tell I suppose.

I don't think there is anything you can do - you must be in Admin mode.

This issue has been seemingly nullified with Sonicstage 2.3: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7687

allofmp3.com is a service that has a choice of bitrates and is very inexpensive [and still legal!].

Hm, that's reasonable to say I suppose. Nothing jaw dropping, but certainly alot more user friendly and functional in the higher end models.
