Hello. I have decided to leave the Minidisc and ATRAC scene for good so all of my goodies are up for grabs here before I list them on ebay. Feel free to contact me or check out my ebay feedback under lamewing. I don't know how to add photos here, but I will be happy to email anyone who wants pics of my HiMD equipment, just send me a PM. Here is what I am offering and it is being sold as a set: 1. Sony MZ-NH3D Blue downloader NEW condition with MC40ELK remote 2. Sony MZ-EH70 Black player NEW condition 3. Extra MC40ELK remote still in packaging NEW condition 4. 3x Sony blue HiMD discs sealed 5. 10x 80minute TDK WA minidiscs still sealed plus a couple more discs if I can locate them. 6. Metal MD case for single disc Both units have all the original equipment, batteries, chargers, packaging, etc. I purchased these new from Bland about a month ago thinking that I could get back into the minidisc scene, but I have found that a flash recorder and flash DAP are working just fine. I am taking offers over the next few days before I list on ebay next week. I accept paypal (and money orders/cashier's checks in the U.S.)and will consider shipping outside the U.S., but the buyer must pay all shipping and import taxes. I hope to break even on my purchase from Bland and have no intention of profiteering from his effort, so I will not take more than what I paid for these units. Thank you. Joe

The lack of information since early September is rather unsettling. I can understand the administrators moving on, but it would be nice if they would let us know what is going on and passing the reins to someone else versus letting this site go on life support. I only visit the forums now and also get my Sony news from engadget and anythingbutipod....and occasionally from the forums themselves. I actually sat down and counted the number of players that I have and it turns out that I currently have (just sold some) HD5, A1000, A3000, and the A818. In addition I have the following minidisc units...N910, NH1, NH3D, and EH70. I hardly use this equipment anymore except for the A818. I think it is time to sell off all of the equipment, get a new Sony A829 later on, and just "get over" the whole Sony ATRAC thing...sigh. I can use my old iPod Photo 60Gb until the A829 is released. It was a great ride, but I think the King has left the building.

Well, that pretty much decides it. For whatever crazy reason, the PS3 can transfer music to theNWZ-A8** series, but it won't work with the NW-8** series. This really surprises me as it seems that Sony would include that option on the PS3 since they have other options to transfer music to ATRAC players that are not PC-based. I guess this removes any need to buy a NW-model; guess I will stick with the NWZ-model. Joe

I no longer have a PS3 so I cannot test this idea. I did successfully transfer music TO and FROM a PS3 using the NW-A818. Joe

I guess I wasn't clear enough. This is exactly what I meant. Can you LOAD the A805 FROM the PS3 like you can do with the A818 and PSP models? Thanks. Joe

I am going to bump this thread ... Does anyone know if you can use the older Sonic Stage dependent players with the PS3? I know the A818 and the PSP work, but does the A808, A3000/1200/1000, HD5, etc work? Thanks in advance... Joe

I agree sounds like Hi MD (equivilant to tastes like chicken I guess???). I its too bad we cannot use the nice HiMD / MD remotes. like I do on my HD5. Currently you can find 8GB cards for about 75 dollars U.S. Joe

hyou can drag and drop non-ATRAC files or use Sonic Stage to transfer ATRAC or AAC. Easy as pie.

What is wrong with a beginner dropping by and attacking another member without POLITELY ask what the problem might be versus just accusing someone. I have seen this much more often as of late. How about folks being a bit more polite. That has been one of the reasons I enjoyed this board.

I have to agree. I have been using paypal now for about 6 years with no problems whatsoever. The protection that paypal provides is also a great asset. It is not free, but I figure the profit they make/cost I pay is worth the security. Joe

Hey, I know that I can easily transfer music from a PS3 to the A818 series units and to my PSP; The A818 in mp3 or AAC and the PSP in mp3, AAC and ATRAC. Does anyone know if the PS3 will allow transfers of ATRAC to other Sony ATRAC enabled players and HiMD/MD units? Thanks. Joe

The bad part is that all one has to do is add about four font files to display Japanese, Hangul, and Chinese. The problem is that even with the hack, you cannot get to the correct partition to add the files. You have to actually take the hard drive out, connect it to a PC, copy the files and then reassemble the Zune. I spoke with MS three times about this and each time they said it was being addressed....the first time was a week after the original Zune came out. I have had a grudge against Sony for putting out regional "versions" of Sonicstage all these years, making it extremely difficult to transfer my Jpop over to a Sony unit...especially to U.S. region MD (early models). Both Sony and MS have been playing the region/race-card crap for way to long. The simple fact is that Apple has a program (iTunes) that is unicode and supports multiple languages with east. AND, they have a device that displays those languages without problems. AND looky, looky, who is the leader in mp3 sales...and still growing? I don't care about the Zune at this point, but if Sony would get off their high-horse and treat everyone equally (same software/same hardware/same colors - just different firmware) then they would save so much dang time and money.

I also purchased a Zune 80 and was overall impressed with the hardware, but... 1. The software almost made my dog cry. 2. No use as a hard drive out of the box...useful for use students. 3. IMPORTANT!!! NO KANJI/KANA support!!!! After I got my dog to stop crying, I returned the Zune.

I just hope Sony can get to this point. 16GB is nice, but 32 would be the sweet spot for me as it is 16GB more than my HD5 and HD1. Joe

Apple raised the iPod touch internal memory to 32GB this morning. It took some willpower (and a recall of the HISS from the headphone jack) to keep me from ordering one. So that puts a bit of pressure on the competition...such as our well loved/hated Sony. Is there any plan on updating the A8xx series with more RAM in the near future...outside of Japan? I have seen the A9xx series and love it, but the lack of 1-seg TV here in the States kept me from ordering one. If someone knows something, that would be great news. I assume Sony won't touch 32GB flash until the iPod Touch goes to 64GB??? I am especially interested in whether any RAM upgrades will cover both the Western (non-ATRAC) and Japanese (ATRAC) models. I truly would expect Sony to upgrade the ATRAC/Japanese version first and leave we in the U.S.,etc hanging. I remember seeing the A808 in Akihabara last May, but the A818 didn't hit the U.S. until September. Should we expect the same situation soon? Joe

Okay, I am tired of the Sonic Stage / non-Japanese windows nonsense. My japanese is pretty limited, but I was able to work a windows machine in Tokyo just fine...a bit fidly, but not a problem. My question is if I install a full japanese version of Windows XP, will I be able to avoid all of this nonsense in the future? Thanks. Joe

Thanks to everyone for helping me out regarding the software. I somehow missed it on the Sony website. After downloading it and trying it out, I am VERY disappointed in the software. No video conversion unless we hand over thirteen dollars, what a kick in the pants. Why even add video capability without software to convert video to play on the unit. Instead of following suit with everyone else, Sony should have provided this for free as a way to help promote their player. Oh well. I may have to take mine back anyway. When I had Vista on my PC, it worked perfectly. It still works perfectly on my wife's PC and our PS3, BUT it will connect to my PC for about 10 seconds and then disconnect. I bought a USB 2.0 card thinking it was my PC's internal USB ports...no dice. Something is going on with XP and I have no clue what to do....grrrr.

Is there any word from someone in the know regarding a release date for this software? Or are should we expect a release about 6 months from now. Not much has been said by the folks who run this website. Any information is good info.
