  1. Try turning on a fan, then dangling the buds in spinning blade. That's broke every pair of phones I've ever done it to. Actually, the best way to "burn-in" phones is to listen to them at a reasonable level. Too high and it may not come out nicely, and to low will take forever. You can easily just leave your headphones hooked up to a strong signal (home equipment etc.) and leave it playing something for 24 hours or so. Check over at headfi.org as they have some very good ideas as well, even one uses a tone generator.
  2. The thermal head in your n707 may be shot. While I've never had any first hand experience with that model or that problem specifically, the "deleting disc on shutdown" is a common problem with a few units. Thing is, the disc must write a Table of Contents to finalize each recording session. If this is not done, the disc will be just a bunch of data read BLANK by your MD walkman.
  3. You should try the uninstall process and download SonicStage 2 from Sony.

Tape! electrical that is! That should be a pretty good repair for now.
  5. We'll hold down the fort, you take care of your stuff.
  6. I'm super excited for the election. Just as excited about the world series.
  7. Thanks for your help. You should remember that Sony legally cannot allow people to make digital copies of digitally copied copywritten work. It's called SCMS.
  8. Sony has it's code locked up extremely tight. Which may explain why the software acts like it does. I have seen some progress with the Mac end of NetMD, however I don't belive anyone is trying to do anything with porting Sonicstage to anything.
  9. I'm down for writing a Bio about myself, If it is to help the Minidisc community of course.
  10. 110 should find you a respectible unit. I do belive the r700 unit has a mic in.
  11. Less Skyther!!! j/k Everything is pretty good over here and I think that there isn't a base of Hardcore regulars yet. Which makes it seem inferior to more established Forums (which it is not)
  12. The plus side of Atrac CDs is that the compression is gapless, therefor you can keep the album in it's original format, yet utilize compression.
  13. Skyther sure does look cute for such an Ahole.
  14. I did not even hear that. You really should look into some history courses. The Americans have been swinging the iron ball of Democracy for some time now. The US did not "mind it's bussiness" by any definition of the term. Let's make a list shall we? (In no order) Manifest Destiny Vietnam Chilean coup of September 11th 1973 Invasion of Panama Bay of Pigs La Invasion (The Invasion of Panama) [backed by 'Bert Dubya BTW] Most of this was shown in the film "Bowling for Columbine", although I doubt many war supporters saw it, as every war supporter I've talked to doesn't enjoy listening to the other side of the argument The Land of the Free doesn't mean "Land of the Perfect" P.s I'm considering locking this thread as it is turning into a heated bicker fest.
  15. If you can recharge batteries with your unit, then it will be outlined in the Manual. In past sony recorders, the battery charge button was the stop button (pressing to turn it off, then pressing again to initiate the charging) Reading the manual is essential to using your Minidisc unit with ease.
  16. Kerry voted for the Patriot Act, but didn't almost everyone else pass it as well? I personally cannot vote as I am Canadian, but I really don't think that Bush is the right choice for 04. I like this reason I personally saw a blog by someone on the net the other day, they were talking about how they really wanted Bush to win the election, because she couldn't afford a new CD. She really thought that tax cuts would give her enough money to buy that CD. Are some people really that selfish? Now I'm not 100% sure if this person was being serious or not, but I can't imagine meeting a real person that would rather watch his/her country dive into debt than give some money back to the governemtn and help the economy get out of a hole. Every time I see money taken off my pay check, I smile. Eventhough I know I'll never see some of that money ever again (though I am supposed to) I'm glad that some of the money I'm making is going towards people who need it. Call me a Left-wing socialist, but I don't love money enough to support shafting the poor in order to motivate them to get jobs.
  17. Sadly NetMD isn't what you want when it comes to SP. You COULD record MP3s using sonic stage and record in SP, although it converts MP3s to LP2 then back to SP so they are compatible with older recorders.
  18. I'll be sure not to post before you do next time! :smirk: I've owned over 10 mid-to-mid-high range laser products and it's the only one to die a slow, slow death.
  19. I was expecting a HDD player for 80 bucks. lol I've used an Emerson CD player before and it was a horrendous piece of electronics. Just don't be surprised if it just stops working, as that is what happened to the laser in said CD player. I also had to move this to the correct forum
  20. Yes, this would work, although I've never tried syncing 4 tracks. I've only done remixes using stereo->Mono dubbing.
  21. Buy a bed sheet and some tacks...... That's a perfect window covering.
  22. Well HiMD is surely what you are looking for, and I think you should look into a WTM (World tourist Model) HiMD recorder NH700 and above. It's got a MIC in and should have compatible plugs, all you should have to do is buy a plastic converter to switch the plugs around. Out of the box MD reocorders don't have great recording ability as MICs aren't even included. So a battery box/preamp and a decent set of mics would probally do you very well.
  23. Here I sit, in my 2 year old Du-plex, after returning from my 2000 dollar per semester university, infront of my 2000 dollar laptop, surrounded by a 2 hundred dollar audio system. Eating, 40 cents worth of food...... Yes yes, I'm sure some of us have run into this before... The luxurious audio, the library of music, the beast of a computer, but plain macaroni with salt and pepper on it So is it just me, or are there others out there with tricked out systems, but things like bills, schooling and food have made them Hobos living in the shoes of Kings? (note: I am infact eating plain macaroni with margarine and S+P, and it is very good oddly enough)
  24. There is already an application used to convert uploads into WAV files.
