Why two forums: T-board and minidisc.org?
Bananatree replied to rauer's topic in Comments + Suggestions
Agreed, the Tboard has turned into a post frenzy/popularity contest. This forum is a lot tighter and cleaner over all. -
http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=7346 Please read that, you will notice that a few topics were deleted due to the activities of hackers.

Gold does resist corrosion and will wear off pretty easily. Gold adds extremely little to no sonic fidelity.

I knew Minidisc was a niche format, but...

I concur with Cori, try burning your ex71's in the fire. I think most of the popularity of these phones come from them being white like the iPod.
-
Some headphones really don't need this, aswell as some users won't even notice it. However I think the entire burn in thing for headphones is so that people who aren't 100% pleased with their new headphones can go "WOW" or "Meh" right away to maximize possible resale value.

Bad idea methinks. Source to Atrac to CD to atrac??? Assuming the souce is CD, that still wouldn't sound great once it came out.
-
Unless you used some super sensitive material for testing, I doubt you'd ever be able to test it fairly. As far as I know, everything about Simple Burner matches up with SonicStage. The only difference is that sonicstage will import your CD song by song, leave it on you HDD and then transfer.

Sadly Nismo is correct. However, think of each disc as your own personal playlist in a box In all seriousness, the iPod's playlisting feature is really the only thing that it has over MD for me. I'd probably say "sucks" to any other Hard-disk walkwan, but the nie playlisting is pretty cool. If you like playlisting, Atrac and Mp3, you should check out Sony's HD3 if it ever comes state-side. It may have almost everything you are looking for.

I think us protable audio folk should bring back the thick shag carpet! We need some defenses against gravity.

Connecting two lengths of speaker wire?
Bananatree replied to linzq's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
for a less permanent way, try stripping, then braiding the ends together. Then wrap with some electrictian's tape. -
HiMDs have uploading through USB enabled, so if you really need to, you can upload the track, then convert it to WAV

From minidisc to iPod don't make my mistake full details in

Stock earbuds sounds very, very bad. There is a reason they don't change the price of the player very much. I like apple because they make reliable products that work well. I'm not anti-sony. I just really don't think the n10 is the pinnacle of Hi-Fidelity. The r50 is a sweet machine with very nice output, that I like a lot. I've personally never had a Sony product I was disapointed with, same with Sony. Nothing is wrong with your set-up and welcome to the forums. It's just not fair to call anything crap, when you really don't have a good idea on how to judge what crap is. -
# of ohms should be a better logic for how much power is needed.

Some basic NetMD questions (I know I'm a few years late)
Bananatree replied to doctorfrog's topic in Minidisc
If you can handle the real-time recording, I say go with it. NetMD will convert all your MP3s to atrac as you want to transfer them. Although I believe you may have the opportunity to convert them all if you want. If you really are looking for some (relative) speed, try the Nero image burner trick. You can essentially burn your MP3s to a music CD on your HDD. Then use simple burner (it converts and deletes on the fly), to transfer the "CD" to your MD. Then dismount and delete the disk image. -
Not always. As far as I know, it is based on the sensitivity of the driver. Ex: The Sony MDR-ex71's and the SHURE e5c's have similarly sized drivers, but the e5c's (As far as I know) are harder to drive as the sensitivity is much lower.
-
This is a problem the purists have been talking about since we found out about HiMD sooo many months ago. It's really a trade off for quantity. However, I find using group mode (not sure if it exists on HiMD or not) help to group all the albums together on one disc much like a playlist.

Product which allows MD tracks to look like PC files
Bananatree replied to steve77's topic in Minidisc
As of yet, no such product, patch or Firmware upgrade exists. Sadly, we have to chill out and wait for hackers to do their thing. -
Sadly, your MD does not have the output for titling, and your computer probally wouldn't understand it if it did. Sadly, you will have to get a .Wav editor and clip all your 1-track recordings into smaller tracks. Atleast typing by keyboard is easier than titling with a MD recorder without one.

Bananatree replied to kalel's topic in Minidisc
Firstly, unless you've used a dual processor g5 souped to the nines, don't judge it. Secondly, other than lacking the remote, why would the iPod need a lot of wires? My Laptop has one! O noes! My n505 only had 2. Seems that really gets the job done. Third, never try to judge the sound of a audio player with stock, or mid-grade sony crap buds. You really need to open your eyes to some fidelity, the n10 surely wasn't anything wonderful sound wise, but if you were using stock buds, I guess you would've missed out on that one. As for the battery... why are you playing it at full volume? The maximum battery life is projected by apple under certain conditions, just as Sony does.... -
Buying a recorder like the MZ-Nxxx series would let you do NetMD transfers of MP3s, although that isn't much like iTunes, it is more like it than real time, plus it isn't a software fix, it's a hardware one. If you use winamp, you can find some plugins that make recording a lot easier. The plug in will play your MP3s and insert silence so all your tracks get cut up nicely. That about all the help I can give sadly.
