One difference between 2.2 and 2.3 is it lets you change the track numbers. This isn't a big deal for minidisc but for the nw-hd1 it is really nice.
-
The only way to get gapless atrac files is to make an image file then mount the image and import to sonicstage.
-
This site lets you choose which codec/bitrate you want to use, it even has losslesss formats (flac, wav). http://allofmp3.com/index.shtml?r=915418891

I actually got this from a link earlier in the thread. As far as I can tell it's not Japaneese, at least everything is in english. http://www.planetmg.com/NewProd/sony-asia/...SonicStage.html
-
Yeah I tried it would have taken forever so I stopped it and erased everything then re-imported everything, much faster than the defrag.

You can download SonicStage 2.3 here: https://secure.thefilingroom.com/signin_prodigital.asp username: sonicstage password: minidisc These files are compressed in RAR format in 10MB files. edit: This version does NOT have connect.

Any different LOOKING hi-MD 1gig disks out there???
Ryzir replied to campekenobi's topic in Minidisc
Yeah it is pretty "cheap". The only reason I got it was because it was the first unit out and I couldn't wait to try the new format. It's the 600 so no inputs (besides usb). Other than the "cheap" feel it has worked fine for me, I have not had one problem with it and I abuse the hell out of it. I have been more happy with this unit than I thought I would be. I figured by now I would have upgraded but since it has served me so well so far i am going to hold out for the next gen hi-md. -

we will be stuck with this style until the technology gets more widely accepted and other companies licence the technology from Sony and make their own. -
Since most of Sony's portable devices have a remote jack wouldn't you think that they would make a cable that interfaces with the changer connection on Sony car decks? Electronics people -> Is this possible? Could one be made from a remote and a changer cable?

I will consider offers.

I just noticed on connect.com that they have a new program that comverts mp3 to atrac leaving the original mp3 intact. http://www.connect.com/download_mp3Conv.html I wonder if it is faster than SonicStage converting these? Not that I convert mp3 to atrac (too lossy for my ears!)

PCM upload possible more than one time by dumping HMA?
Ryzir replied to [StrangeByte]'s topic in Minidisc
I tired using Backup Utility in windows with no luck. The minidisc player gives a No Track error message. -
It can hold all typs of data

Having been into md for quite some time I am in favor of the DRM vs the SCMS. I have battled with SCMS for years with my personal digital recordings and have never really been happy with the hardware that strips the SCMS sode. Now with DRM it is more software based, software is a lot easier to hack. itunes keeps trying to stay ahead of hackers but you can still get software for the latest itunes that will completely strip the DRM. Now I'm not saying it's okay to do this and re-distribute the material but I think that it is okay if you are using the files for personal use, which is fine legally. My 2 Cents

There is a way to get all the install files. Download the installer then download the installation files. When those are complete but befor it starts installing the files restart your computer. You can then go to your temp internet files folder (C:/Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Temp Internet Files). Then you can move those files to anouther foldet and burn them to a cd.

This offer seems legit and is easy to do. All you have to do is sign up then sign on to one of the offers (most are free). I just did the AOL for Broadband and you only have to sign in once then cancel (100% free). SPAM

Sorry I had to take these files down, I needed the space. Hopefully someone else can host them for awhile.
-
All I got for telling them was an e-mail saying that they checked Connect and determined that is was running fine.

The SonicStage 2.0 CD that comes with the Hi-Md units says on it that it works with XP Media Center Edition 2004. You can download an image of the cd here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4767
