i'm watching some divx video & have 8 tabs of firexfox open but i get an opening time of about 7 seconds. re-opening took about three times that long & at the moment i have about 120 tracks in the library. amd xp 3200+ 1.5 gig ram radeon 256mb 9600xt 3x ata harddrives [one via usb]

i've never found it to be so. the guy who writes cdex is also a contributer to lame but i'd assume he'd not put an unstable codec into an otherwise excellent piece of software, niave, maybe but i've used it with no problems

try installing cdex which has the latest lame mp3 codec intergrated & will overwrite what ever mp3 codec being used now http://www.mp3-converter.com/cdex.htm

i assume you aren't using hiMD then. if it's netMD or earlier then no you cant in anything other than realtime which can be helped a little by marcnet's rederrer program in the downloads section.

do you have another optical drive? i find clicking from one to the other then back to the first, obstinate drive will refresh the drive & get the cd info.

it could have been an environment issue, eg. what programs & services running in the backgroup, how many firefox tabs open &c.

fanboy... with the 'screw' type plug, can you give us a direct shot? i assume it's a 1/8 inch [3.5mm] with a screw on 1/4 inch connector. lovely pics mate. **late edit** just looked at your custom user title

it's "transfer without converting formats" on hdd players, import some mp3s from a folder if you have an mp3 himd or hdd player & you can import them as mp3s. it's as an alternative to the "convert all music to a certain bitrate"

if you are intent on md then give himd a serious thought. what's your budget anyway deadman?
