When do you think skins will be back up?
-
Shivers! That is a pretty good poll... like I mean even though it might be a bit bised, it shows why MD is popular... and what they like about it etc... I think your friends should e-mail Sony about it quite seriously... to let them know what teenagers really think about the product. If the only reason they are using it is because Sony is a Jap company... then Sony has A LOT of problems! In Australia... if there was an Aussie manufactureed electronic device... chances are that not many people would buyt it UNLESS it was better than the current other goods on offer, or cheaper.... :| I recon Sony is digging itself into a deep hole at this time on the ever expanding world we live in. They really need to start doing some market research into what people really want outa of portable electronics... and what people currently use their MD's for... Edit* I just saw that! Very good point mmm I don't know how to rebut that one ... but all I can say is that Holdens are affordable house hold cars as well as single movers... so they cater for ALL demographic areas in the market...are cheap, and reliable. Isn't Mitsubishi Jap made?? :S

Well you might not believe this, but the new iPOD was 1 of the key news items on tonights news!!!! Thet showed it off, and then showed a short clip of it being launched.. and the guy speaking was saying "It can play videos!............(very long break as if this is a break through or something), it can store pictures!............. Was bloody ridiculous. I think it's new name should be iAMSTUPID or iAMAMAZING

Problems with NH1 turning off during recording
MZ-NH1 replied to not worth asking's topic in Minidisc
I never record with it in the cradle, plugged into the AC Adapter, is that is what you are asking so I wouldn't know if it turns off. It has never turned off before for me whilst recording... normally 2-3hr shows... So I don't know what is wrong with it! And it also seems... I play all my sons in "Shuffle" mode, so it plays like track2,10,1,20... all randomised... but it seems when it plays the last numbered track in the folder... it also turns itself off then :| As it to say that is has played all songs... good bye! :| -
Man Ishi you are just full of MD equipment and Pictures!!! I must say these look very nice though! Do you think 1GB 'limited edition' MD's might come out soon? Or are shops still trying to seel 80min 'special' discs still?

After I burned my MDR-XD200 Sony Headphones in for 100hrs... I noticed a HUGE increase in volume!

Problems with NH1 turning off during recording
MZ-NH1 replied to not worth asking's topic in Minidisc
Oh my gosh!!! I am gettign exactally the same problem!! I noticed it about 3 weeks ago, but thought it would go away.. I have been studying real hard for the last 3 weeks, and have had my MD plugged into my stereo unit, playing continuously for about 5-8 hrs a day.. Sometimes I am studying.. and then the music just stops :| other times i leave my room for a break, come back 30 mins later and the MD is off hence I can hear no music! I have never had the MD Turn off on my during recordings... but the longest recording I have ever done was about 2 hrs... As some say, it turns off after 5 hrs... which would be what it is doing in my case! Maybe the unit is overheating? But it is bloody annoying!!! Oh, and the battery is fine. When the battery is running flat, and about to auto turn off the unit, it beeps a high pitched beep about 6-8 times... this never happens. It just turns off itself. Edit* GUESS WHAT!!!! It has just turned itself off after exactally 2 hrs!!!! -
Ahahahah.... mmmmm. Well make sure to try them on at the shop.. and take your MD along, and plug it in and see what you personally think... I mean I love them. The quality for all my music which is very diverse (jazz, pop, rock, brass band, soloist music...) sounds pretty fantastic... So I hope you hve the same feeling as me if you do get them
-
Shit... they look huge!!! Look liek full industrial size things
-
Mate. I seriously have never heard better quality saoung every before. I have been wearing them for the past 2 weeks for about 4 hr every day whilst I study... and seriously the sound is amazing! I sometimes get distracted and just stop and listen to the clear sound coming from them. I did a 'burn-in' for about 100 hrs when I first got them... and what I noticed from doing that is that it seemed to make the headphones louder... Like the music comes out quite loud... even on 15 on my MD, where as before I would have to turn it up to 20 to get a normal sound So I dunno what has really caused that. But yeh mate, THEY ARE FANTASTIC!
-
Ahahahah! I hope you got 1 of their 'Pyramid' Rooms
-
AHAHAHAHA. I'll start clicking them for you
-
As the saying goes, Boys with their toys!! I bet you'll have a fantastic time Chris! And I was also gonna say take a camera, but it looks like enough people have requested that! Have a good time.

Gonne be getting a 19" and prob a 250GB HDD... but yeh... will have to look into it. Will have to go find a pro music store now Shouldn't be too hard in Sydney. Yeh, I have done that a couple of times now, but as you said, the sound quality isn't too great. So yeh I was wanting something which sounded a bit better. Thanks for all your info! I will have to do some digging around myself now to see what is available. And wait till I get my new pc Jan next yr
-
Yeh thanks for the Bob. Only reason why I am thinking to use the PC is to save that extra time recording from Mic to MD, and the uploading to PC, and then converting to mp3, and then playing it back, listening etc... I would just like to be able to record in good quality, straight onto the PC, since the PC will be in my room, where I teach students (can record them) and practice myself. I personally think it would be a little easier... but depending on the price, I will have to see

Cheers for that mate! Thanks heaps! With regards to microphones... could I just use my Sony MD Mic? Or is that not the best? The MBOX looks pretty mad! Let me just get this right.. The MBOX plugs in via USB, "two analog inputs" meaning it can have 2 mics attached to it, those get put into the MBOX. The MBOX is attached to the PC, so you just turn the unit on, get into the software which is bundled with the package... and start recording? Is it as easy as that? With speakers, I was thinking of hooking up the speakers of my Sharp Micro System XL-HP500W unit to the PC using a stereo mini plug. There are 2 speakers 50W each... do you recon they would be good enough? Or do you think something like the Logitech® Z-5300e is better??? What do you think? IS that what you mean my monitoring as well? or are you saying a good monitor (for viewing) is necessary as well?
-
Wow! Ok thanks heaps for all that A440! Much appreciated! The $1000 didn't include a new PC, but I am definatley gettign myself a new one at the end of this year... (back when I was recording in realtime from MD to computer) When you say this, do you mean you were recording with your MD plugged into the PC, and what you were recording come up in like a recording program? Guitar Center or Sam Ash - Unfortunatley I live in Australia.. and am pretty sure we don't have them But I will definatley look around for other places, as I think I need to have a good look at what a setup would costs, and what equipment/hardware would be needed. The recordings would just be for reference for myself... so I have to figure out if spending all this money is actually worth it firsty Thanks for all that info though!
-
Shivers... ok. Didn;t think of any of those. I would be recording Brass (Trombones) Woodwind (Sax) mostly in my room. My rooms accoustics are pretty good... About price.. I was just considering this as an idea.. but maybe $1,000 AUS? And what exactally do you mean by monitoring? And would you think an external sound card kinda thing would be better? And how much are good digital mixing desks approx?
-
I would really like be able to set up a small recording kinda studio in my bed room, but am wondering what kind of equipment/hardware is needed. What I was thinking would be needed, and please correct me if I am wrong is - Need a good PC, with recording software (Adobe Audition?) Need Microphones Need a Mixing desk (not this specific one... but something like this? so that the mics can go into the mixing desk, and the mixing desk is then plugged into the pc... A analogue conversion card? What else would you suggest? How much do you think it would cost? and How easy is this to do, and how good would the quality of the recordings be? It doesn't have to be a professional set up, as I know they cost thousands of $$$... but for an average kinda set up? Thanks!

Shit! Look how many ppl r reading this topic 1st of all! 2ndly - THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I don't think Sony realise how disaterous their decision will be, if they decide to cut the MD's completley! I think we need to get into contact ASAP with a major Sony exec or some1 who has major influence in Sony... and let them know how we feel and why! I am not trying to sound nasty by saying this... but for all the recordists who use MD's (including me) If MD's were scraped... then we would have nowhere to go! It is saught of ok for the people who use MD's JUST as players, as they can always go to mp3 players... but for the recordists, there is NOT A SINGLE product out there that would compare to an MD in recording quality and flexability! Please correct me if I am wrong.

I just said the MZ-NH1, because that is the only unit I have ever owned

Yeh mate I have the same question. And thanks for reminding me to take the MD outta the cradle from charging all today I accidentally left the MD charging in the cradle for about 4 days I think it was... and on the night of the 3rd and 4th days... I would always hear this very high pitched buzz... I thought it might have just been my ears... but it was so annoying on the 4th night, I got outta bed, and walked round the room till it became louder, and I found out it was the AC adapter making the noise! I quickly took the power out of the wall, and the buzz descended in pitch till it stopped!! Even if I leave the unit charging for 2 hrs.. I take the power out, and listen to the metal points in the power adapter... and there is a soft descending buzz! That’s the side effects!?
