  1. With in-ear carnal phones it's important you get a good seal - that can really alter the sonic qualities
  2. On ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=5833073850
  3. Gut gemacht, indeego! Agreed kurisu, that FAQ is excellent.
  4. A couple of EMI Copy-Control CDs I have refuse to be recognised. The disc TOC is so encrypted, that EAC refuses to recognise the audio track. Have tried it on different drives too, but to no avail. I can't get a digital copy on MD either, thanks to SCMS on the disc. Also, FYI, in the wake of Sony's announcement that they will exchange the aformentioned discs, there is a website here which lists the titles eligible for exchange: http://www.upsrow.com/sonybmg/
  5. I'm using the Feedview plugin with Firefox v1.5. The feedview extension will be built into Firefox 2.
  6. Love the RSS feeds... They play nice as live bookmarks in Firefox 1.5: And show up nice with the pics as well in your RSS reader: I was originally using the XML feed from the front page (mindisc.org). Incidently, what's happening with that site? It doesn't get updated much anymore and the equipment browser is lacking a lot of the latest units. On the plus it also contains a whole host of really useful info (FAQs) and links, things that really should be stickied here. Is this forum supposed to be a seperate entity to minidisc.org, or is their going to be tighter intergration in the future? I'm just curious...
  7. Their aren't any hacks for the N10. Period. The N10 is a top of the line unit - all the features you can possibly get exist on the machine to begin with.
  8. Yes, this whole thing with the bitrates seems a bit stupid. At the moment the only option is to transcode from a WAV (or lossless WMA) in SS to get the 352kbps bitrate. Just can't understand Sony's logic...
  9. BUMP! Last chance before I try my luck on ebay!
  10. ATRAC3plus is purported to excel against other codecs at low bitrates.
  11. The MZ-N510 has one, so does the E630. I'm pretty sure a lot of Sony units do. Sony even made a special version of their EX51 in-earphones that had a loop to hang your unit on. Though I think an MD unit might be a bit heavy on the neck...

    Sony DRM on CD's

For the forum's interest, there is a free rootkit revealer program (190 kb) available for download from Sysinternals: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html
  13. Shouldn't the MD downsample from 96 to 44 khz?
  14. Most Sony bookshelf MD units have a clock function. You can set it to wake you up with radio/music, etc...
  15. Tried a few senheissers headphones @ JB Hi-fi once. Have also tried out some various other studio headphones at musician's stores like Allans & Music Junction in camberwell. In my experience the music gear stores were a lot happier to open boxes, etc... Don't know about trying out earbuds...

    Sony DRM on CD's

Moral of the story: don't use Audio CDs with your computer. Well, that's at least what the CD companies seem to think...
  17. As per user requests, some more pictures of the unit: Check out gallery #2 - http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?act=m...album&album=165 A couple of the photos show some of the scratches, which as you can see, are barley noticable. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned them, but as greg pointed out, some can be very picky and I like to avoid buyer regrets. Bear in mind that since the top surface is clear plastic over magnesium, the unit is bound to be prone to some markings (fingerprints, etc), but could always be given a clean with some polish/soft cloth, or even toothpaste to remove any markings.
  18. Hang on guys, some more pics will come really soon... Any further questions: you can PM me in the mean time.
  19. I'm unsure what you're asking but you need the OpenMG Secure Module installed to playback OMG files in WMP, Media Player Classic, or other audio app SimpleBurner does not have audio file playback...
  20. FYI, all English versions of SonicStage (US/Canada/Europe/Asia-Pacific) are the same, it's just that the online store module (Connect) has a different URL for different locales.
  21. No bites yet? C'mon people... you know... you want it!
  22. Sounds like a hardware issue. If the unit is under warranty, take it back.
  23. The N510 doesn't have a digital amp. What source are you recording from (ie. NetMD [from CD/ATRAC3/MP3], or Realtime REC [Analogue/Optical]? What mode are you using [sP/LP2/LP4]? Try recording from a CD deck in SP optical mode and see if that helps improve the SQ.
  24. Hmmm... There's also a likley health issue of litting customers try out IEMs. Imagine the communial earwax on those things...
