  1. Yep, the same can be done if you wan't to just simply use SimpleBurner - you don't have to install SS, just the OpenMG Secure Module (and any updates) and your Net/HiMD Drivers.
  2. May I recommend all queries of a specific nature be conducted outside these fora. Easback, you should contact Minidisc Australia via email/phone/website - I'm sure they will be happy to assist. Let's keep this threat on topic.
  3. Not exactly. The FAQ states: This audio codec was assembled from publicly available bits on the Web and hence may not represent the ATRAC3 codec Sony currently supplies with their MDLP and MemoryStick audio devices.
  4. If you're going to spend a large proportion of cash (which is the case if you want to get decent buds/phones), it would be foolish not to try them out previously, IMHO. Take you're weapon of choice shopping (MDP, DAP), and try out a few instore. When you're getting into Hi-end gear, different phones will end up having different sonic signatures, and will also perform according to the device used. For many, it's not a matter of "better" - but instead finding a sound that suits their own listening preferences, not to mention suitability to the device and type of music listened to.
  5. AFAIK, no portable MD Player has it. Sony MDPs have a feature called AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiting System) but all that does is prevent the user from turning up the volume past 20/30.
  6. Yep, I will definatley take some more pics before (if) it finds it's new home... With the death of MD looming, I'm considering an upgrade... possibly an E730, perhaps a Sharp... or perhaps I'll get some nice earphones instead, or put the proceeds towards a new PC, haven't decided yet...
  7. Hi everyone. Up for sale is a Sony MZ-E620 Minidisc player (green). Unit was originally purchased new just over a year ago. This unit features:ATRAC Type-S6-Band EqualizerDigital AMPMDLP/Group Support3-colour indicator LEDShuffle/Bookmark/Program Play ModesAVLSOne-touch eject The unit itself is well-built, and in full working order. The unit is in excellent condition, barring some very minor scratches on the clear plastic surface over the magnesium faceplate. Might I emphasize that these scratches are indeed very minor, and can only be noticed at certain angles when examining the unit very closely. I am mentioning this for the sake of completeness - rest assured I take very good care of my MD units - that aside, the unit is in fantastic condition (see photo below). Included Accessories (see photo below): RM-MC33EL Backlit Remote Control StickDetachable AA battery clipMatching (green) charging stand3V/1A AC AdaptorSony draw-string carrying sack-case (grey)... and the original instruction manuals. FYI, here is quick snippet from a review I did on the unit previously: For more pictures of the unit, check out my gallery: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?act=m...album&album=158 Battery life/output specs available here: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-E620.html I'll be happy to answer any further questions you may have. Just drop me a PM. I'm looking for $130 AUD ($98 USD) plus shipping costs. I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I accept Paypal, though Aussies have other payment options... Thanks for looking!
  8. Check to see if the MD you are using has the write-protect tab flicked on. This is the cause for "SAVED" messages. Nothing is wrong with your cable. Most likely a software issue. Try re-installing SonicStage and the OpenMG Secure Module as detailed in our Software FAQs.
  9. The Qualia was just an fancy-boy's E10. As for sound quality it could possibly be better than the E10. Some purport it to have the HD-amp instead of the regular d-amp, but it definatley was MDLP/SP only - not exacty Hi-Fi...
  10. Yeah, I thought you were refering to a former board member with that name...
  11. Full article here: http://news.com.com/Suit+filed+over+Nano+s...ml?tag=nefd.top I'm personally unsure what to make of this. Hi-MD users have had similar woes with the plastic surfaces on the RH10/910, should we be filing a lawsuit againt Sony? Sure, companies have a responsibility to ensure the build quality of their products. On the other hand, I see plenty of ipod users just shoving their units into their pockets next to keys, wallets, mobiles, etc. Perhaps people don't take care of their gadgets like they used to...? Are consumers being pedantic? I'm not so sure... A case like this could set a nasty precedent... or could indeed be a victory for consumers, in these times where many expensive gadgets are of poor build quality... essentially disposable items... Your thoughts below....
  12. Arggh! ... scared the hell out me... Trick or treat? Nice trick kurisu...
  13. I am definatley writing down the serial numbers of my electronic goods from now on...
  14. If your deck is NetMD, then SonicStage will transcode HiSP to LP2 before transfer. So you still get "fake" SP. In fact it will sound even worse than LP2 converted to fake SP, since your original material needs to be transcoded from HiSP.
  15. Hey all! I'm selling some more of my unused MD gear. This time it's a Xitel MD Port DG-2 - for the uninitiated this little device just plugs into your USB port on your PC/Laptop, adding digital optical audio output. This device was originally intended for use with MD recorders, allowing users to capture unadulterated digital audio from their computers; however, you can also use this device to hook up your PC to any source supporting digital inputs (ie. component hifi systems, etc.) Ideal for those with laptops (without dedicated soundboard) or for those wanting to bypass inferior soundcards. Included are the main unit, USB cable and Toslink to 3.5mm optical cable. Unit works on Mac/PC, no drivers needed. Unit in full working order, perfect condition (no scratches or other marks). $24 AUD (approx. $18 USD) plus shipping costs. I’m in Australia, accept Paypal, happy to ship o/s. Thanks for looking. Hopefully I won’t have to go through eBay for this one.
  16. Despite the success of iTunes type online music stores, I would like to think that CDs will be available for sometime yet. And with that would come PCDPs, I hope. Not everyone has access to unlimited bandwith high speed internet - in addition CDs offer uncompressed sound. At best, lossless audio compression can only offer about a 50% reduction in size at this point in time.
  17. BUMP! No bites yet? Initial bid too high? Oh well, perhaps I'll get lucky. A couple of days to go...
  18. Well...l I've finally got around to selling this unit (meant to ages ago!). I just don't use it anymore now I've got the CMT-M33NT. I'm doing it on eBay to maximise potential buyers. It's in perfect condition. Some around here may think the inital asking price of $90AUD (~ $68 USD) is a little steep, but I'm including the accesories and and a case-logic MPC2 neoprene case. Link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Sony-MZ-N510-NetMD-...1QQcmdZViewItem I accept Paypal. Please consider bidding! Thanks.
  19. I believe the M-series works fine with windows - it comes supplied with SonicStage and is identical to the R- series HiMds in this respect. This is yet to be confirmed by any of our members though.
  20. I believe there were MD Audio recorders for the PC, but they were only available in a very limited selection of Sony Vaio PCs and Notebooks.
  21. Zoso, sounds pretty much right - SonicStage sends LP2 data to the unit, where is transcoded to SP...
  22. I have a Xitel Digital PC-Link adaptor (the kind that came shipped with some of the MZ-R series models). It's in perfect condition, about a year old, only used it a couple of times, and I'd be willing to sell it to you. I'm in Australia tho. Feel free to PM me.
