  1. Cracking deal mate. I got my 700 with 2xHiMD for about €70.
  2. Are subs to threads automatic once you post in them? Doesn't seem to be, normally it is.
  3. There was something for MD dunno about HiMD. Can you export it from SS? Found this link http://www.tucows.com/preview/166234
  4. Is there any point recording via Optical in on a HiMD since you get the same quality from ripping the source and transferring via USB. The only unit with an optical out is likely to be DVD, CD or MD. Ok I can kinda understand recording MD(SP) to HiMD(PCM) if your getting you music off MD but other than that.
  5. Wheres a good place to buy gumstick batteries that ships international?
  6. On pre HIMD units. On HiMD's USB transfer to PCM would be best.
  7. Personally I've had no issues with 3.2/3.3 I think its a very ungainly piece of UI design, and really its very limited. Its like something a decent programmer would knock up as a beta. I'd have expect something 10 times better from Sony. iTunes has it limitations certainly but its very good at doing what its intended to. Getting music on/off an iPod. Its also very slick. If you've never had a problem with SS then its a bit naive to dismiss the problems others have had. From what I have read, the majority of problems are not ease of use issues, (though they certainly exist) but major crashes and bugs in the software. Memory leaks, and terrible performance. These are the worst kind of bugs and crashes since they lock the data and libraries from being recovered. They also leave behind lots of debris on the system, preventing a clean re-installation of the software, in some case damaging the OS itself. They all symptoms of very poor coding of the application, and very poor development practise. Basically its a shoddy piece of work.
  8. Interesting idea. The HiMD uses the power from the USB cable. I wonder if it the PSP can supply enough power? If not will the HIMD work. Also I'd wonder if the slow transfer speeds from HiMD would be sufficent for the PSP.
  9. If that doesn't work can they be played on a ATRAC CD player? You could then record them off that. An ATRAC CD Player is cheap.
  10. So Sonic Stage isn't that buggy so because only the people who complain are on this forum. Everyone else is delighted how brilliant it is. Complainers are probably all cranks, lets dismiss them out of hand. You've made your point, I've made mine, we don't agree. We're probably both right. Have a beer on me...!
  11. WMA is not widely supported by players. I wouldn't use it as a basis for a library for that reason alone.
  12. You can buy a NH1 in my local shop for €379 and thats a sale price.
  13. Would be incredibly slow too. You'd have to look closely at what they mean by "flawlessly".
  14. PCM is the only lossless you can put on a HiMD. (The new lossless formats in SS 3.3 are on the PC only) Technically you can record in PCM mode. Dunno why I said you couldn't. Lack of sleep probably.
  15. Lots of clumsy people over on Head-Fi so, and the Rio forums. Well no point worrying it now since they shut down. Not like they are going to fix it.
  16. "don't drop it on the wheel" LOL I'm sure they don't do it deliberately. I thik the problem was not just with dropping it. The Karma also had build quality problems.
  17. Reformat the Net MD with the HiMD.
  18. 94 minutes uncompressed @ CD Quality. If you reduce the quality to HiSP (256kps) you'd get 8 hrs if your batteries lasted.
  19. Theres no DRM issues with analog stuff on a HiMD is there?
  20. Depends on which MD unit you have. Whats the make & model number?
  21. I prefer seeing clarifications as lists myself... PCM is uncompressed and lossless (Huge file sizes High SQ) ATRAC Lossless is compressed but lossless (large file sizes High SQ) 256kps is compressed and lossless and is (med file size med/high SQ)
  22. OP said HiMD. The process is the same for all HiMD units. AFAIK. So it doesn't matter which one we're talking about. Besides you install SS 3.3 then plug the HiMD in via USB. Its not much harder than that. Transfer to the PC, convert to WAV, then encode them all to MP3. Once you have the tracks as WAV it doesn't really matter what encoder you use. I prefer Audiograbber and Lame. Or even iTtunes if I'm lazy.
  23. Well I can. But its not much of a difference. HiSP (256) is good enough and so much easier to manage via SS and HiMD that its not worth the hassle of using 352 or 292. In my opinion anyway. Some people are happy with 64kps.
