Welcome to MDCF! To enable kanji/kana titling using the English version of SonicStage 3.1 currently installed in your system, you will need to run a simple registry edit for SonicStage 3.1. Please follow the instruction below and run SonicStage 3.1 with Microsoft AppLocale. If you follow the steps below, kanji and kana characters will show as it should. Please remember to run SonicStage 3.1 with Microsoft AppLocale after the registry edit. Naturally, under Microsoft AppLocale, run SonicStage 3.1 under Japanese language if you desire to title in Japanese; and the same applies to Chinese language if you desire to title in Traditional/Simplified Chinese. I can guarantee it works perfectly. --> Using regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sony Corporation\OpenMG\PD\{D887F25F-02A3-44D7-841F-583DD5231B5F} --> Then locate the entry called "AreaCode" with a value of 2 for US version. --> Change it to 40000 hexadecimal. That's the value on the Japanese install of SS. If you prefer to install the Japanese version of SonicStage 3.1, I have edited (specifically the .ini file) the installer for your convenience. Click the attachment below. Good luck.

@ D-EJ915: Glad to see another mint condition E900. I hope it will crawl back to you one day. -
If the problem is just CDDB, try reinstalling (if you haven't done so) SonicStage 3.1 of your choice from this thread.

The VGP-CKP1 is not available for the US/Canadian market. However, you can try eBay. As for the VGP-AMC4, just try hunting around. CDW has them in-stock for $32.17. -

I believe it's a brand new-sealed in box unit. I've bought a few items from eCost.com in the past and my experience was a pleasant one. -

Welcome to MDCF! I bought the VGP-CKP1 while I was back in Tokyo for vacation last year. If I remember correctly.. it was approx. USD$25-30. The VGP-CKP1 is also available in the UK and Asia (I have seen them in Hong Kong and Singapore). As for battery replacement, you can replace the battery on your own - the VAIO Pocket user manual provides detail replacement instruction. Hence, there's no need to send it back to Sony for replacement. For your convenience, please refer to the diagram below. -

Heh... perhaps ~ you'll just never know. I could now be surfing MDCF from a tiny room embedded within Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo. Have fun with the demo unit. -
Heh... our very own #1 FLAC fanboy. Sorry to disappoint you, but I do store them in WAV format. I have no immediate need to adopt FLAC as yet; in addition, HDD is so affordable nowadays. Alright... back to the topic.

As I said yesterday, "grab it while you can" - it was at $239. I reckon the immense demand pushed it back to $249. -
That's brilliant. I archive my vinyl collection digitally as well - Vinyl to WAV format via SonicStage Mastering Studio. Please let us know how it goes with your project.

Thanks. I hope someone will find those information helpful.

Sorry, I can't speak for SonyStyle since I am not familiar with their return policy. However, you can definitely enquire at the SonyStyle store in New York. For your convenience, here's the address: Sony Plaza 550 Madison Avenue New York, NY 10022 212-833-8800 *For your information, all SonyStyle stores (the ones, which I have visited) have the VAIO Pocket on display. So, I am sure the Sony Plaza in Madison Ave. will have it. Have fun. -
I am sure a true Sony Hi-MD deck will materialize. Hopefully by end of 3rd quarter of this year.
