trying to do some catch-up - your help please
MusicBringer replied to MusicBringer's topic in Software
Don't you not worry about that my friend. I am not unfamiliar to the occasional double negative. In fact only the other day, talking to the girl at the bar, we were talking about doubles. And she asked me for a Double entendre. So I gave her one. -
that's worth knowing, thanks Avrin

ah, but you are wrong Taliesin. It IS a great help Thanks for your feedback

Just seen this: Windows 7 To Be Released October 22 Dunno how much though
-
sfbp, I agree with you. Since 7000 in Jan I have been using Win7. I love it. I never used vista. Came straight from XP. Unfortunately my pc is playing up at the moment and I have no window of opportunity to fix things. This means that I have to use XP. But like you I think they are getting there with win7.
-
Alright, this is different then. I have just seen your post Avrin. I suppose I should use the drivers in your link, rather than the drivers in the MDCF forums link, even though the zip file name is the same. Confusing
-
...and what a final note it is..!! I wouldn't have had a clue about this. I am not in a position to install on 7 for a while, so haven't actually tried again just yet. But very grateful to you, sfbp, for bringing this driver requirement to my attn. Off to grab 'em now>>>>>

You have all been most helpful. Thank you very much

I think there are different experiences of using SS with Win7 From what I have read, I think there are a number of ways of persuading Win7 to behave with SS. Otherwise we are stuck with having to keep a pc with a legacy os just to use our minidiscs. No. Nevertheless I thank you for the link and I have followed your recommendation to get ultimate one from Post #5. Thank you for that Avrin That's a good version of 4.3. Is there a recommended full version of 4.2, please - or don't I need it for XP. Will this ultimate version behave with XP Pro? At the moment, coz I dual boot, SS installer sees the XP installation on the C:\drive and refuses to install to my E:\drive where I have Win7. Ho Hum.
-
This concerns Windows 7. I cannot install SS4.3. I have a dual boot machine with XP on the C:\drive and Win7 on the other drive. When I try to install SS4.3 on Win 7 it says it is already installed, and goes away. Grrhh. I suppose it is coz SS insists on installing itself on the C:\drive whereas Win7 is on my E:\drive. How can I deal with this. And where can I get a full version of SS4.3 or 4.2. I only have installer stub versions. Thanks,

Thanks for your feedback Stephen Most helpful, as I have been out of touch for a while. From what you are saying, and bearing in mind I have no RH1, it seems I am alright to stick with 4.2/4.3 and XP Pro. -

Thanks Hello Rich, good to hear from you. Long time no see. I hope you are well. Thanks for the link I will give it a try. [late edit] having looked at the comments on that thread, I think I might as well stay with SS4.2 and XP Pro. I have never used Vista. Unless you recommend otherwise btw what do folk think of Win 7 with SS3.4. Anybody tried it yet... -
Hello folks, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I am trying to do some catch-up. I still love and constantly use my minidiscs. I am on SonicStage 4.3. What version should I be using now. How have things changed...

As simple as it is, this is prolly my fav tweak. Many Thanks raintheory. A good piece of work and so well written, even I could understand it..!! Thanks again,

NH900 batteries loosing power too quick
MusicBringer replied to MusicBringer's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Thanks Stephen, I think I'll find a scrap of glass-paper and give 'em a rub-down -
Hello folks, I have a cherished NH900. Just recently Ni-MH 1.2 batteries are loosing their charge within 30mins playing time. I can charge a battery using my old non-HiMD minidisk and cradle. And it shows as fully charged. I just tried the Nh900 again with a freshly charged battery and the it stopped playing after a few minutes with a low battery error message on screen. It started with four battery blobs displayed and as it played they gradually reduced one by one. Oh dear Have you heard of this happening before, please..??

Error report - An error occurred while transferring
MusicBringer replied to MusicBringer's topic in Software
Thanks for offering your ideas. Umm, I actually am looking to use SS, not a work-around. How can I resolve the error message I get when using SS4.2, since it is impossible to get hold of SS4.0. Your help is appreciated -

Nice try Guitarfxr It don't work "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /temp/1/SS40_MDCF.exe on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.41 Server at www.pepperonistavern.com Port 80" -

Well it's 12 hours and 87 views latter. I guess nobody uses minidisc anymore, or at least nobody who understands this error message: An error occurred while transferring. Transfers are not allowed. Surely somebody has seen it before, I cannot be the first to get this error. Please... -
Error report - An error occurred while transferring

Hello raintheory, I tried that and got another error message. This one in the image: Guitarfxr, the bit rates are various, some 128, some 320, some vbr, some cbr. Believe me I have tried all sorts. Such as checking "read only" attribute - that's ok. Not sure about codecs installed. As this is a new pc setup do I need to install codecs. If so how? btw I can play mp3s on a variety of players incl SS4.2. ... and let me add that using my old pc with ss4.0 together with the same NH1 and HiMD I can transfer anything without problem. I always have been able to transfer my mp3s to my HiMDiscs without difficulty. I have done it for years and on each PC I've owned. I get to this new PC and well, you know how I am feeling....Grrrrrrr! I guess this message of "An error occurred while transferring. Transfers are not allowed." is new and not been seen before. I suppose it is a generic error message, coz it tells you nothing, other than the fact that SS will not behave..!! Where can I get a Full copy of SS4.0 to see if that will work. I thought I had a copy myself but it is the cut down version that needs the (2005) server and that's not working now. Thanks for trying to help me -

I am not trying to play mp3s on a NH1. NH1 is not an mp3 player. I have used my HiMD for ages, but with SS4.0 on my old PC. I cannot get SS4.0 to install on the new PC. I have therefore installed SS4.2 I am trying to transfer an mp3 to HiMD using SS4.2, which means that it converts the mp3 to ATRAC3 132k. I get this wretched error message. That is driving me mad. Guitarfxr, thanks for trying to help.
