  1. Sorry, but the proposed new look is far too busy for me - it confuses my eyes.
  2. Thank you mrsoul, a helpful post
  3. ...to my ears the first one was rather thin and open, whereas number two was a richer sound, fuller, more rounded. I don't know what describing words to use, so I hope I got my findings across to you. My ears preferred number two.
  4. Hello Kaineda77, like you I too have many many traditional minidiscs. However, although I considered transferring it all to several One Gig discs I have left it all as it was. I can play them ok on my new NH900, as well as my old Denon Deck. I thought the time and cost to do the transferring, plus the inevitable loss in sound quality was just not worth it. My efforts are now directed to making One Gig discs of New (to me) Music.
  5. Hey Tiesto you truely have some classics on there, plenty of my favourites - altho I don't know what that Rick Astley is doing on there
  6. Hello bug80, I also use EAC+LAME aps to make my VBR MP3s, and they seem to go through SS 3.1 no problem and play ok on my NH900 at LP2 or HiSP. In fact I've just made a ES 74 min minidisc full of wonderful Blues tracks. I managed to get 60+ tracks on the disc at LP2. They are playing sweetly
  7. ...in a scene like that I could not stifle the urge to chime in and say my piece. After all, I would like Mr Old Fellah to get a good machine that suits his needs. It's happened in the past. I've said my bit and then wondered off, only to find the other customer approach me latter (sometimes outside the shop) and seek my opinion . (On one occasion it was about a pair of socks ). The wife just walks on...
  8. Hello mviracca, welcome aboard.
  9. ... are batteries included, with that
  10. Go On, do it Soulboy. I've just got my new nh900 with ss2.3, and now I've gone and upgraded straight to ss3.1. Never had the hassle of 2.3 (or older), nor 3.0. For me it was straight to ss3.1 oh yes, and I agree with you Soulboy, the folk on this forum are fantastic with their knowledge and advice,
  11. Hello Me, I think your opinion is just as valid as mine or anybody else's. However, to me sound quality is important, and I take some spare batteries around with me to deal with the issue of (short) battery life.
  12. Yeah that's very good advice lightbulbjim, I always carry spare gumsticks
  13. Welcome to to team NH900 I got mine just recently from Amazon UK for seventy quid (165.606 CAD) But you did well too, The_Stamp. Enjoy your new machine
  14. Hello dex Otaku, just re-read that remark. Do you mean to say that if you have say a dozen tracks you merge them into ONE mp3 (or whatever format you use)
  15. We all seem to prefer different programs to do our splitting. I use Goldwave a lot, and like it
  16. Thank you dex Otaku You certainly know your stuff
  17. To ensure my mp3s have the correct number of frames I use a wonderful little program called mpTrim The Basic version is Freeware and I thoroughly recommend it. If you want to do very big files or batches then you need to buy the pro version.
  18. Beware! I think you will find that they are referring to these 3-Pack HiMD compatible minidiscs 13.5hrs/305MB per disk when recorded with HiMD. Curry's "£15" minidiscs They are just ordinary 80 min minidiscs with fancy packaging at twice the price of standard minidiscs.
  19. That was pretty good Not at all diluted, in fact quite neat - just how I like my water. Hehe, LOL, is it a wav(e) file?
  20. Hello dex Otaku, This is the bit I cannot get my head around. I understand you have to use SS3 to "shunt" the (large collection of ) mp3 files to my NH900. But to my eyes it DOES convert/transcode them (no?). SS3 asks what me what transfer mode setting. And when they are on the player they say ATRAC3 132kbps or whatever. They do not sit on my player as mp3s.
  21. Hello bug80, thanks for your words of encouragement. I have always taken particular care with my music files - as you can tell - using EAC+Lame. I guess that SS3 is fussy too (just like me ) and will only accept files that are tidy.
