i was wondering are you using the standalone installer from mdcf.. please tell what version of sonicstage you are installing ie.. us version, europe etc etc.. people have had some issues with the standalone installer with the hi md detection, me included.. i just downloaded the official sony installer and it worked fine..

i think you can put LP4 on a hi md disk using Sonic stage.. i can see the atrac 3 format even when i am using the Himd in the Hi md mode... i also transferred some tracks in lp4 format on the rh10..

i have the same problem here. might be that the supplied adapter is a two pin USA adapter.. while i stay in india and use a step down as my power supply is 220V.. here, we use the 3rd pin for earthing.. it could be that the 2 pin adpater made for the usa where earthing might already be there( please correct me) is not earthed in india.. i have a friend leaving for the us in a week.. please let me know if i need to send it back with him for replacement or service... thanks

Hat Trick For MDCF? - Service Mode + 2nd Gen Hi-MD
veezhun replied to Christopher's topic in Essential Hi-MD info/FAQ's.
I finally managed the courage to change my code to 24.. but i lost the ability to edit the track titles now... same issue as someone else here.. these tracks are from the pc and i was able to edit this with the code set to the US model.. anybody else having this issue? -
thelowvolta no one is being condescending.. simple means simple... the reason of my post was to give my point between the nh900 and the rh10.. i would surely recommend an iriver or the rio karma for listening only.. between the rh10 and nh900, i would choose the rh10 for listening.. as far as recording goes, if SP is so important to the person, surely the Nh900 is the recorder of choice. point well taken... otherwise, both get the job done sooperbly finally.. peace.. was just trying to make my point

same issue for me too.. please download the online sonicstage installer and leave it overnight.. it will minimize your problems

let me try and make my point in simple steps: Nh900 Vs Rh10 Scenario 1: You mainly listen to music PLayer of choice : Rh10 Reason: 1. Chances are majority of the people here have a large mp3 library. It plays directly without transcoding and the quality for me seems perfect while i am travelling. audiophile quality is reserved for PCM.. 2. Say you have 50 cds of various genres. Would you sit and record all 50 real time in SP mode just so that you can play it on your car player or hi fi module?? Chances are you will use the LP2 mode in either SS or SB and transfer it faster than real time. At least thats what I do. You can do this with the Rh10 also.. Scenario 2: You mainly record music live Recorder of choice: Rh10 Reason: 1. The OLED screen is kick ass.. You can see the levels clearly, the battery life is fantastic, there is an AA atachment etc.. You could also record using the Nh900 but viewing leves needs a remote.. i personally like minimal peripeherals while taping live.. hate those darned wires... 2. Recording live in Net MD mode is useless anycase because you cannot upload digitally.. So buying the Nh900 for recording just beacuse it has legacy support makes little sense.. 3. If you have an old MDLP recorder/player, you can still make SP/LP2/LP4 disks using SS/SB.. The reason why SP/Fake SP doesnt bother me is that you are limited to 80 minutes only.. if i am travelling overnight, i would need to carry many discs... might as well buy a pcdp and listen to many disks in true audiophile quality.. Scenario 3: You listen and record equally Recorder/Player of choice: Rh10 Reason: 1. Explained above Cheers.. ps. these are my personal views only.. feel free to add your own

get the rh10. i got this from the us. the main differences u already know. let me give u my view. the display is fine in the bright sunlight. it is peak summer here in india and the temperature is 40 degrees celcius. no problems reading it in this bright sunlight. the lack of a lineout doesnt bother me.. native mp3 playback seems fine here but i havent done any serious listening tests using a nice headphone.. i have the philips sbc hp890 btw.. people who complain about lack of SP recording i.e Atrac3 are plain short sighted. If i wanted to record LIVE, i would never use MDLP as i cannot upload these recordings from my Hi MD. But if i just wanted to create discs to play with my earlier MDLP, i can always use SS or simple burner to do so. the only issue being SP mode is not the real SP Mode. i am a classical music player and have a decent ear. about SP and HI SP:all those who claim to hear the difference in the SAME unit between SP and HI SP must be super humans!!! so please go ahead and buy the OLED rh10. i think it is a good investment.. honestly, i am using it as a pure recorder, the reason why MD was made. playback is what i call an optional extra cheers

I just got my black rh10(us model).. there is a small issue with it.. i also have a Mz n10 net md.. when i pop a cd and transfer it to the n10 using simple burner, i can edit tracks and add track marks etc on the Net MD.. but when i connect my HI mD and transfer using simpleburner (Hi Sp), i cannot add track marks... is this a common feature to all Hi Md's or can the 1st generation ie Nh1 and Nh900 edit such files?? cheers

thanks for the response i am stuck between the nh1 or the rh10... i figured if u liked the nh900, i might as well look at the rh10.. but the nh1 is some piece of hardware... i love the metal look and my issue is this: I have an mz N10 and if this build quality is an indicator, the NH1 should last me for a very long time. When i record, it rarely ever goes beyond 3 hours. My maximum length recording has been 4 hours at a stretch. I record mainly indian classical music programmes. I almost never look at the recorder once i start the recording.. it stays stealthily inside my pouch or a bag.. so the OLED display has no use for me while recording.. The main drawback of the Nh1 is the need to carry your charging stand everywhere.. The NH900 is also a superb device... the quality feels and looks good.. the battery back and dc-in on the unit is also a huge plus. But you are right, the rh10 does look like a good machine with the kickass OLED screen. any more suggestions and comments would be greatly welcomed.. cheers

Hello, I am currently using an Mz N10.. i want to get a hi md recorder to upload my recordings.. my primary use for the md is recording... playback is not important as i have an ipod mini... i have been looking at the nh1, nh900 and the latest RH10.... and i am so damn confused.... the nh1 is really awesome... lineout, magnesium body, cool remote to monitor recording levels and change them etc etc. the nh900 has the external battery pack.. line out,, lcd remote and a solid feel to it. i had the fortune of playing with these 2 models at frankfurt... but the rh10 with the oled display and the native mp3 support looks good.. but i dont know about the build quality.. i live in india and if something goes wrong....... i wanted to know if the Nh1 and the nh900 can charge over usb... and can i use a wall charger that connects with USB just as the ipod??? any help would be greatly appreciated... i also wanted to know if not having an external battery pack in the nh1 is a bad thing if i want to mainly record in PCM... a confused soul with some cash to spend...
