thanks all really appreciate the help.. dex, there are 4 resolution settings on the camera.. i was using the default which is the maximum.. i then reduced the resolution a level lower.. maybe its a placebo effect, but the photos seem to register faster.. i dont print photos on a printer so the next best resolution is fine.. there is another small issue.. the battery life is really terrible.. i am using a 2100mah energizer rechargeable Ni MH batteries.. even then its bad.. the charger that came along doesnt have a mechanism where it stops charging once the batteries are full. i think it has a standard timer on it.. is there any way i can drain these batteries to zero and then charge? i read that for Ni Mh batteries, sometimes discharging fully and recharging tends to increase battery life.. jade.. no money for digital slr i checked out the digital rebel.. looks good and reviews are fantastic.. but too expensive for occasional clicks.. i am going to experiment with the macro mode tomorrow.. any suggestions about macro? incidently, the camera has a super macro setting. what does that do?? cheers

i feel sorry for the guy... i have a gut feel he was done in because of the white headphones... if that is true, i will stay away from er-6i.. ipods should carry a standard warning like cigarettes:: IPOD CAN CAUSE LOSS OF HEARING DUE TO LOSS OF LIFE

having used a film camera for as long as i remember, i decided to give a shot at a digital camera that my brother has.. i am not a professional or anything and click pictures occasionaly.. the camera is an olympus c 310 zoom 3.2 MP camera.. when i click, the camera takes quite a while to register a photo.. with the film camera, it was just click and the photo is taken.. is it just my poor photo taking ability or my camera or is it a general issue?? shutterbugs please advice ps.. just checked the gallery and some of the pics are awesome.. , ishi, mz NH1 and volta's bulbs.. really good!!

if i am not mistaken, that looks very close the free mic i got with my aiwa cassette recorder.. if that is what it is, its a decent mic for concerts and practice sessions.. once the levels of the concert start getting too loud, this mic has problems.. never tried or have the battery box option yet.. :edited to add picture cheers

-bring back the all metal build quality for the top end recorders ( the 2nd generation top line metal MD is a player) -larger size of disks 2gb or more so that we can record longer in PCM - make uploads hasslefree.. no more once only uploads for your own recordings - continue with the battery pack attachment.. it is a boon for recorders.. - dex, i fully agree with you about remembering the manual recording settings - make the unit standardised worldwide.. the 2nd generation differs in every continent i think - market it...let people know what an MD can really do.. in india, i dont think anyone, barring a really small number, know what an MD is - capitialize on the name SONY and make better software,, the hardware of SONY is exceptional but software kinda sucks.. the day the software improves, i can see a massive improvement in demand cheers

i have the rh10 and though it does have a few scratches, they are rarely visible. i honestly dont care as long as the unit lasts for a long time and records as it does now... the build quality is very good though.. very much metal under the plastic
-
accroding fo Dex and i have tried this as well, the rh10 at volume levels of 29/30 and eq off is very close to a line level.. get the rh10.. it rocks.. and it is easily available.. the nh900 (brand new) is not so easily available.. dont buy a used piece IMHO
-
or just get the rh10 and be amazed by the OLED screen and the sheer beauty of the device
-
the Rh10 is most defintely metal under the plastic coating. owners of the rh10 please see the metal just under the screen... its very sturdy... i think other than audiocubes, i did not find a brand new nh900 available anywhere in the US..(correct me if i am wrong) if the nh900 is not easily available, just go for the rh10.. its awesome and does everything you want it to do.. i have it for over a month now and there are no scratches on it. it depends on how you keep your equipment.. my rh10 has seen many concerts in a bag, train travel and some bus travel with a lot of people. no scratch on it.. if you want a detailed review of the rh10, do let me know cheers

Possible To Charge An Nh1 With Car Power Adapter?
veezhun replied to smilingcrow's topic in Minidisc
the nh1 has a 6V adapter that goes into the charging stand... the 3V wont work.. -
so much for the free mx 450.. i have lost sound from the left ear.. ie only the right ear works now anybody know how to rectify this??
-
if it is both recording and playback, by all means invest in the rh910.. it will suit you just fine.. you will love the recording quality ( i have done a few concerts myself with the rh10). the rh910 and the rh10 are the same except for the OLED screen on the rh10 so the quality will be the same.. enjoy the hi md..
-
what is main purpose? is it playback, recording , or both?? i recommend for ONLY playback, go with a HDD based player.. for any other use, the rh910 will suit you fine.. the 2 devices have their own strenghts and cannot be compared( in my opinion).. its easier to compare the ipod to the hd3/hd5 than the rh910
-
play around with the EQ.. see if you can boost the vocals without disturbing the other music too much.. you cannot just boost the vocals as this is 2 track wav file.. if u had recorded multitrack, you could increase the just the vocals..

were you using any previous versions of sonicstage?? if yes, try this unsinstall method for the previous version. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 cheers

i found it very funny.. sony and its policies.. someone on top should actually use the product before making it public, specially on the software side. SB that i installed from the cd that came with the rh10 had the pcm option.. i am still hoping the next verison of SB and SS gives SP (true sp) .. is it possible or am i dreaming??
-
cnet already has a basic review in place.. they seem quite impressed.. http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_MPD_AP20U/450...52.html?tag=tab cheers
-
fake sp is only through Sonicstage. Simpleburner only does Lp2 or Lp4 in Net MD mode.. Strangely, sony has PCM as an option in the Hi Md mode. Isnt that strange? Offer the highest quality in SB for Hi md but not for Net md??

napster, itunes, connect etc etc make a mockery of music.. if i am downloading illegally using p2p, i can live with compression of even 96kbps for mp3. if i want to pay my hard earned money for music, i really want it uncompressed or maximuim in a lossless format.. no NEAR CD quality crap.. the world is moving to Hi definition in every area except audio technology.. people are content with crappy compression in audio while investing thousands of dollars in hDTV, progessive scan dvd players, bluray etc etc.. imagine a bluray HD video disc of matrix where the sound is encoded in WMA 128 kbps and they call it near cd quality.. when buying music, just go buy the cd..

totally agree with you volta.. i got them free so cant complain about the price.. i have the following 'phones with me as of now: 1. Buds: Sony stock ones that came with the Rh10 and the Senn Mx 450 2. Canal : Sony ex 71.. not too loud as comapred to either of the above phones. 3. hiFi: Philips SBC hp890.. these are fantastic for the music i listen to. These are one of the best i have ever used or tried for the price range.. i tried the EQ as you suggested and the results do improve but not much.. i guess i cant expect too much with this. free is free afterall!!
-
i just bought the senn mx 450.. i must say the sound is very flat with very poor bass response.. even the stock sony head phones that came with the rh10 are better.. actually, the stock headphones are wonderful.. i am not a bass head and dont listen to music with heavy bass but the mx 450 has extremely poor bass nonetheless.. is there some issue of burn-in and if so, what is the way to do it?? cheers

you can erase any form of disk using a hi md recorder.. even a disc full of protected files trasnferred using SS..
-
I really dont see what the issue is.. Sony thought of pleasing many users especially new users to get into the MiniDisc format with the launch of the mp3 capable series. What I dont understand is this obsessive need for true SP recording. While I agree that true SP does benefit a number of car deck users, the new generation is moving on. If someone wants MDLP recording modes on his Hi Md recorder, then go buy an Nh900 or Nh1 and kindly do some research before buying. If adequate research is not done, there is no point in bitching about sony. I use the Rh10 and am extremely satisfied with the results. Sonicstage is not the monster everyone claims it to be. The installation is painful, accepted, but once installed it works quite well. For really desperate users of car decks that do not support Hi MD, use SS to record in MDLP mode.. SS records in MDLP even in the second generation Hi MD's. Before i get pasted with comments on how SP on sonicstage is not true SP and is lp2 wrapped as SP, i am aware of this and only pointing it out the concerned person.
