http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6282600.html?tag=blog "" Sony is the "best brand" in America, according to a national poll by Harris Interactive. The interesting thing about the poll is that the respondents give spontaneous answers when asked what they think are the three best brands. On the one hand, that's awesome for Sony--the majority of people, when considering the best brands out there, just bust out with "Sony," "Dell," and "Kraft" (1, 2, and 3, respectively). Then again, this could just be the result of having a nice, short, easy-to-remember name. "" Sony Rulzz

on a dry day with good roads ( a rarity here ), i touch around 75-80 km/h. If i change the engine idle settings and setit for maximum power and least fuel effeciency, i can touch a 100 km/h with some difficulty.. the fuel effeciency i get now is 47 km per litre of petrol.. petrol costs 44 rupees per liter here

HI MD needs a lot of juice to record specially on the 1gb discs.. it is wise to use a AA cell also while recording.. gives you a lot more time. this is precisely why many people here opted for the nh900 instead of the nh1.. the external battery pack

thanks chris really means a lot... i disinfected myself thouroughly and have not left home since.. electricity and internet are finally there.. there is some problem for drinking water coz all the dirty water mixed with the good water we are boiling water everyday now..
-
disagree all you want but i would not call a HI MD recorder an Mp3 player... in fact, i would have been surprised if MD was included in a research of MP3 players
-
sooperbly put.. i couldnt agree more.. HI MD is a recorder primarily and inspite of that, the playback is excellent..to find such a wonderful recorder with dirt cheap re-recordable media is a huge relief for people like me... i havent tried ss3.2 and am going to do just that tomorrow morning.. hi md is here to stay and maybe the 3rd gen will come out with something even more fantastic.. better bit rates for recording.. 2GB discs.. optical out..
-
sorry chris, no photos.. my camera phone died and had no place to charge it.. plus walking through water that is neck deep filled with muck, rats and some other not so wonderful creatures makes you want to forget rather than capture it many channels have some good video feeds.. check it out... its still raining here... no mood at all
-
the last week was truly traumatic for me... i had no electricity for 4 days due to severe rains... the roads are flooded and travel is a minimum. some 900 people died.. saw some bodies float in the water.. dogs, cats, cows etc etc... am truly mind fu***d.. sorry to bother all of you but thought i might post what i feel...
-
if you ask me, for playback only i would not buy a HI MD player.. Look for a nice HD5 or a vaio pocket.. Carrying 20 1 GB discs is not an issue while carrying a 20Gb HD5 is???? i dont quite get you there... A Hi MD truly shines as a recorder... for playback ONLY, i would as you to consider a HDD player.... thought the space of a Hi MD is infinite,, are you really going to carry 50-100 1 GB discs with you???

wait for the rh10.. it will be worth it.. the remote goes into the standard remote jack of all sony md's... there is also a mic input, line/optical in plus the headphone out which is also the place where the remote jack is... http://www.minidisc.org/images/Sony_MZRH10.jpg see the top for all inputs... cheers
-
dont worry.. i have the US model rh10 with a 110V input.. here in india, the voltage is 230v.. just use a converter and you should be fine.. make sure the converter does a step-down of the voltage.. if that doesnt happen, you might smell something burning in some time.. get the rh10 IMHO.. the OLED screen is fan--bloody-tastic.. specially since its also cheaper
-
greenmachine, i was going to post the exact same thing next... you beat me to it... lp2 vs 128k atrac3plus will be very interesting.... atrain and ishi, lets hear some opinions... cheers
-
headphones with PC will be fine.. just wanted to know if there is really an improvement over hi sp...
-
atrain, could you try to encode a cd in atrac3plus at 320 kbps and see how that sounds comapred to Hi SP?? am just curious about these new bit rates.... ishi, a small listening test for all of us would be highly appreciated... thanks in advance cheers
-
comaprison between Hi lp and Lp4 might be more appropriate.. in this case lp2 is clearly better
-
1. where did you get the english version? 2. translation for the above quote please
-
an apt poll for the newly formed atraclife forum?? 8-track for me

@sebastianbf You cannot record in SP mode using digital mic or analog inputs on the 2nd generation Hi Md's. This is available only on the 1st gen Hi MD... @Archonis.. Welcome to MDCF..IF you are looking for the rh910 for mp3 playback only, i suggest look elsewhere. there are known issues with mp3 playback on the rh910 and the rh10... other than that, quality of atrac is awesome.. the rh910 is an excellent recorder.. if you do record, then the usefulness of this device is high.. the jog dial is not 5 way.. its a roller actually.. there are 2 buttons on either side of it.. i have the rh10.. very similar to the rh910 save the OLED screen. the build quailty should not be a problem i think.. search the forums for more information on this.. for playback of mp3's only, this might not be the best device IMHO cheers

ishi, do you really think sony will come out witha new firmware for Hi MDs??? may HDD and flash they will, but HI MD??? i have my doubts on that.. still, its nice to see many options and the lack of DRM in oma files(hoping this is true)... btw, are you using mac os x?? just wondering what that bar on the botttom of your screenshots is.. cheers

pandit jasraj had 3 backup vocalists.. one harmonium.. one tabla.. 2 tanpura's.. @a440, you are right i was fiddling with the levels.. what happened is i started a level during his aalaap and then the tabla and harmonium started so i changed the levels.. the backups started soon and i changed it again.. then the backups stopped so i think i changed it again.. i am not a master of the manual recording spehere but i am trying... @greenmachine.. my upload speeds are truly horrendous... i will still try to upload some samples tho.. flac or in the worst case HiSP sounds the best... i am not used to compressed music i am just used to live concerts..a lot of my music is live and recorded by either me or friends.. we used to tape on an aiwa tape recorder.. thanks all cheers
-
did you happen to edit the songs on the Hi md before uploading?? also if you can please tell your system specs and if you were running any version of sonicstage before... just trying to pinpoint the problem.. i am not having any issues with sonicstage.. marcnet's himdrenderer works extremely well too..
-
jog away my friend.. use an arm band though.. and dont bump into anything

IMHO, Using the hi md for data is just too slow. Dont even compare the speeds to a flash drive or an external HDD.. the Hi MD really shines when used as a recorder.. as far as Mp3 playback goes on the 2nd gen Hi md's, a lot of people are not happy with it. search the forums for mp3 and rh10.. Hi MD playback quality with atrac nonetheless is awe-frickkin-some.. you also have a PCM option for totally uncompressed sound.. You can record concerts, interviews, speeches, just random sounds, etc etc with a mic. Record off a sound board using the line in and record from a digital source using optical in.. not to mention the USB downloads.. for playback only/mostly, i suggest you look else where. you can go for sony hd5 in the HDD category or the nw507 in the flash category.. for both recording/playback, i doubt you will get a better device in the market than a Hi MD
