  1. Barock: You are right about buying CD-R's. They cost around $15 for 100 CD-R's. I have thought about this option but always rejected the option thinking about extra cost of CD's. brian: Thanks for your willingness to test the deck. Any body have any suggestions for decks that work with CD-RW's. I hate usb transferred fake SP's. I could actually transfer in usb mode in LP2 and get away with listening in car. But, the MD's that I record in SP also get their time for headphone listerning. And I use ER-4P which made my ear allergic to bad quality music. I know I am limiting my options and shooting them down one after another. Maybe, I gotta stick with just doing real time optical transfers from my laptop. I am just curious if there is something that I can accept to live with happily ever after as I am not very fond of keeping my laptop occupied for optical transfers.
  2. I have this unique problem (I hope there is someone like me out here). I really like recording the tracks in SP in real-time. I would love faster Hi-SP transfer, but in my car I have MZ-S1 which is real tough and I think it is well suited for the car. So, back to the problem - I transfer in real-time SP using the USB-optical converter. I have to play songs on my laptop and then record via optical. The problem with this is my laptop gets tied to this job and hence I hate it. So, to curb this problem I recently acquired one of the sony CD walkams with optical out. My plan was to record songs from laptop to CD-RW and then use CD player to stream the optical out to MD. This did not work as the sony CD player does not play CD-RWs. And, the CD player is perfect as it works on 2 AA's and I got it for $20. Unfortunately it is useless. So, I am back to recording in real-time using my laptop. I had pondered the idea of getting a MD-CD deck, but I live an apartment and hence would not be able to go this route. I have not been able to find a good Hi-MD for the car which is as tough and takes AA battery. And, I think I like SP better but if I find a good Hi-MD player for car I might switch. I do not want to spend money to get a MD deck for the car.
  3. Yes, you do not pay commission on shipping. I reported the guy to eBay as having fraudulent shipping charges. Let's see when eBay brings it down.
  4. For those of you looking for a cheap MZ-DH10P: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BOXED-Sony-MZ-DH10...alenotsupported I just requested the buyer if I can pickup the item. As flying to pickup would be cheaper than shipping. And I also clicked 'Report Item' to report this fine listing. PS: Don't tell me you just did a BuyItNow without reading the full listing or this thread
  5. For last 6 months, I have been active in MD scene. Last time I was active was from 2002-2005. My MZ-N707's buttons are giving up, so I recently acquired MZ-N510 for $25 from ebay. Then, I acquired MZ-RH1 from ebay for $69.99 no accessories. And, last recently I got 64 Sony 74/80 min blanks for $30. I am bit on a MD fast now as it is difficult to convince my wife for this hobby of mine.
  6. I picked 'Other' for optical recording of songs to MD SP in real-time.
  7. You beat me. Though, I was talking about RH1 - and NH700 is a lower end unit. No offense as I am looking one for myself.
  8. In RE to all the rants about cheap RH1, here's my response: Found one on ebay with on accessoires for $70. It looks pretty new. I really do not like using remotes and have a usb camera cable to charge. So, I have a very like new RH1 for $70. Can anyone beat that?
  9. On ebay, only someone who appreciates minidisc will be able to win it and not some hack. Hacks might bid upto $20-30, but then serious ppl will take it further. Just my 4 cents.
  10. Did you also donate you MD players? Atleast put 1 word with MiniDisc or Hi-MD. That is what I scanned for first in this long story.
  11. sfpb, If I get any of the recent sony car steroes, will I able to add the MD changer? If yes, where does it go and how easy is the wiring for it. And if how about controlling 5/6 md's once you get it installed. Means what kind of play, rw, ff control you will have.
  12. I have the same problem with my RH910. Gumstick battery won't hold a charge. And when I start charge, it charges very quickly but doesn't really charge. The battery and player was not used for last 2 years. I also have an mz-e75 that I never got to work with gumstick (tried 3 different ones) , but works with external pack fine. Any suggestions?
  13. I have been using Cassette adapter to listen to my MiniDisc player in car. SQ seems good to me except for the cassette rotation noise. Any comments on that. Auxillary should be as good as the player itself. I may be wrong though.
  14. Has server been down for sometime today and randomly for past few days? I love this forum.
  15. I have a no clue lot of haves... You will need to use analog/optical output of you MD player and feed it to analog/optical input of your sound card and then record the incoming stream in real-time. Use audacity software to catch the stream.
  16. Hi guys, I go to lot of local technical gatherings. I would like to record some of them for myself to listen to in car as I drive 40mins one-way to work. I am thinking of taking my netmd/ hi-md recorder there and just recording whatever they speak. I would like to keep the recorder + mic in my bag as I do not want to take questions from other people about my loved md units. Which one of the following mics are going to be good for this: (I would like the cheapest and smallest) http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/redeem/subca...subcategory=168
  17. I just acquired a MZ-M200 with no accessories. I separately ordered LIP-4WM's. I have never ever been a remote user on minidiscs. I am not sure if I will need one for RH1. I have remotes from MZ-N707, N510, R50, E80. Would these remotes work? If not what's the best remote to get. I would not need a mic. And for charging/tranferring, can I just use the usb cable that comes with netmd recorders?
  18. Why are you comparing Iphone w/ MiniDisc? It is obvious that phones are made for calling primarily and audio players are made for listening to music. PS: I love minidisc, but you are comparing eaten apple phones to audio players.
  19. Nice collection. Would you consider sending it to USA? And what format the music is in? BTW: I am from India.
  20. Ebay recommended this MiniDisc polishing kit that I assume can be used to polish units. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...3&viewitem= Any one ever tried it?
  21. damn, that car deck is huge. Where do you put it? in the trunk
  22. What is the head wiring issue with N707. I do not have one for sale, but just curious. Only problem I have with my 707 is the ff button on the dial needs to be pressed 2 times . I have a blue R50 that I am thinking of selling. Physically it is in mint condition. I have the orig remote, and a working battery. I also have the bulky white radioshack charger with 10 diff plugs that I bought to charge R50. R50 has hardly seen over 20 hours of use for last 4 years from me. Please PM me if you are interested.
  23. She agreed to let me buy 2 units off ebay. Catch is I need to sell my dust eating Hi-MD unit 910 first (or later )
  24. Very nice unit. It is like E10. BTW, how much did you get it for? My MZ-N707's jog dial has been misbehaving lately. That makes for an excuse to buy new unit(s). Now just gotta convince my wife = hard part.
