  1. ya, I read that thread, and several others on different boards. If my 33 will work with the new A3000 series, I don't think I'll need it, but then again having a higher res remote can't hurt. thanks for the opinion though.
  2. I have the 33 remote that came with my MZ-N10 and it is perfectly fine and it works great. Now, reasons I ask is that I will be picking up the new HDD player from sony and the RM-MC35ELK is the remote that sony is using for hte unit. Except for the 2 line display, animations and higher res, are there any other things that the 35 has that the 33 doesn't? Is it worth upgrading to the 35 from the 33?
  3. I managed to install it with no problem during and after so far. I used the OpenMG Ishiyoshi posted on MDCF since I don't have SS3.3 installed, nor do i want it. I made it scan my pc for the mp3 files. It took awhile too, I have roughly 2000 mp3s on my pc and it took well over an hour to import them all into the player. The program doesn't run that fast on my PC, I am on a 600mhz pentium 3 though, so that could be the case. CPU usage is around 1-2% for me, and the mem usage is roughly 55megs. I tried opening SS3.2 at the same time, but it says to close connect player before opening SS interestinigly enough. edit: ya CPU and mem usage is off the scale when I go to open it.
  4. It is true, I would want to see the new players with a metal case instead of plastic, but while at best buy last week, I was looking at a display model of hte HD1 (they are sold out now though), it was so badly scratched up, it wasn't funny. I wouldn't buy it for any price that badly scratched, but the odd thing was, even with the scratches it still felt solidly built and could stand out more abuse. Like willykyu mentioned, the quick update by Sony is a good sign that they are willing to fix the problems early and quickly. Sp1n also mentioned that Sony's HDD players are also dead, doomed or something of that nature. Not sure this is the case, the new player may prove a formidable force in the mp3 player market, so far it is just hitting the stores and into people's homes. So far the software isn't what most people were expecting, but I am sure once it is stable it will be a much better combo to the A3000/1000. I believe also someone mentioned to wait for other people's reviews and reactions. At amazon.co.uk. the A3000 yesterday was marked as dispatched in 2-3 biz days, now its 1-2 weeks. Good news and bad news of course, since now supply is limited. lol After checking sonystyle europe, the players seem to be back to their pre order status, but yesterday you could easily order one. some other sites still have it though. edit: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=3TBP seems to have 106 in stock for hte silver version.
  5. Looks like I will be picking up a new remote, even though mine would work, I still want something sony recommends. I didn't get the 35 remote with my MZ-N10 for some reason, got the 33, so I am curious if that will work the same as the 35. at $65 US it is rather expensive, so I will hold out and wait and get the new unit and try out my remote.
  6. Can someone care to link me to this 13 meg file. thanks
  7. Cheers for the manual, looking forward to it. your quick review sounds great, shame that some things are not working unless used with the CONNECT player, but that makes sense. I like the OLED options, the 15 sec one seems the most efficient for battery life is my guess, although, I am curious how long the 30 sec on, and then 30 on for each track would last with one charge. What format are you transfering your files in? mp3 or atrac? If mp3, how fast does it transfer and how easy is it to transfer?
  8. Is the UK version on the net somewhere, or not yet available for download?
  9. Why am I not surprised to hear this. Looks like most of the guesses were right on here about why SS3.3 was released. If Sony doesn't jump on this problem first and take care of it stat, and I mean in like a week or 2 weeks max, the reviews for the players are not going to be favourable to say the least. and as stated in the other thread by Kurisu: "We also have recieved troubling news that no device (even the NW-HD1/2/3/5, PSP, etc) except the new Walkmans will be compatible with Connect Player." Classic, even though this is not a surprise, many said it would happen. and here I thought Sony would turn their fortunes around with the player. Agreed, pictures would be nice. Did it come with a PDF manual?
  10. Well I don't think that would be an issue these days, nonetheless, the main problem would be how older products would work with the new player, perhaps that is why SS3.3 was released, because perhaps the new player isn't completely compatible with the older units.
  11. I have my MZ-N10 registered, but after logging in there is nothing yet to do with christmas. I emailed sony canada asking about the players, they told me to check this site: http://www.sony.ca/sonyca/about_pressreleases.shtml for any new releases, but there is an area on sony style canada called pre-order today, but the players are not there yet. Again I am hoping for info this week on their site.

I got this off anythingbutipod.com if it's old please do tell me, because I couldn't find a topic on here that related to this. Now, this has rather interesting and serious implications. I am unaware of any devices that can do this, but I am sure some can do this. My guess some of the iRiver and gigabeat products. Like it states in teh article, how can RIAA stop this? I am sure the companies making the players, notably sony and apple will build in some kind of a protection system to prevent this, but if it will be software based, I am sure people will find ways around it. Hardware based is another story though. Sharing will be mostly limited to person to person contact, but then it is faster than downloading and how can RIAA really see who is doing what then. Just a thought.
  13. That is what I am worried about, tbe sales dude at the sony store they are expecting the new units soon, i asked n october, so I am hoping that there will be info on the new units, if they go on sale in dec, i can wait, but if it is january, hmm not sure what I will do.
  14. My Sonystyle mag should be in next week, hopefully it will have info on the new players, if nothing shows up on the site. As for the playlist, if sony made it so it's just a text file, then it shouldn't really take up that much space. But I have no clue though how they will do it though.
  15. Reason I ask is that Kurisu posted these pics: http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?act=Att...type=post&id=97 http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?act=Att...type=post&id=98 and the colour is different there and he also stated: "[buttons whilst orange and white -- yes, they change.]" So that is why I am asking.
  16. "We're Sony! Fuck Pants!" funniest shit I heard in a while. Wasn't expecting the pants part. lol
  17. fair enough. I wanted to know if the colours of the OLED can be changed from what is on the picture, for example can you have a blue OLED on the black unit or silver one or whatever colour?
  18. I am really at odds why people want video on their portable music players.
  19. Thanks for the information, looking forward to Sony Canada annoucing the new players soon, hopefully. Any other tid bits of info, oh say somthing that can't be found anwhere else on the net?
  20. Well, my older MD had a NiMH but my N10 has a li-ion, but I am using the A series uses something along the lines of the LIP-880PD-B Lithium Ion battery?
  21. Most are from the ministry of sound cds, others from promo cds, other songs from various pay sites that have the remixes on there.
  22. I've never removed the battery from my MZ-N10, never really saw the point to it, but now I am rather tempted to see how easy it is to remove. lol But I think I will hold on that decision until I get my new NW-A3000. Hopefully it will be a gumstick like battery and not one like in my MZ-N10.
  23. Ok 450 is a bit better for 2 units, but why not just sell each individually as well? Unless they will. Still having a limit edition would be nice indeed.
  24. $450? What are the people smoking at sony these days? Seriously it looks nice and all, but the price is outrageous sadly.
  25. Congrats sony on another product I can't do jack with. Until I get my new A3000 series, any new atrac codec isn't much use for me. Sony better ship the connect player with the new models, otherwise, there is no excuse to include this "lovely 3.3 version" *cough cough* which has no drag and drop feature. 3.2 works fine for me, I'll wait for the connect player with my A3000. If that doesn't ship with the new walkmans, I will seriously have to look for alternatives to sonic stage. will the mp3 orgnaizer work for the new walkmans?
