from the press release, so it never appeared on the site until I believe either last 2 days in january or even in february and pre-order was for feb 13, but they appeared for sale on feb 10-11. so I doubt it will appear for sale even before may here in canada, with actual sale middle of may at best, thing is, unlike the US and england, sony canada has a firm grip on most of its products and they first appear on sonystyle rather than other stores or websites, and even then, some products are sonystyle only. :/

woops I meant 22nd, which I even wrote twice after that, US release says early summer, whatever that means, canadian release is slated still for "may" of this year, I will email the contact email for clarification. I will be in europe from early may to late june and if I can pick it up for less than 446 canadian (this includes taxes) in europe, then I will be tempted to get it in europe, unless sony canada moves the date forward. but then the P series was meant to appear on the sony site in late january and actually went on physical sale around a week ago almost, so I don't trust the press release.

well the fcc documents appearo on the 22nd, so either you will get it shipped before that weekend, or the monday following the 22nd, or that 22nd date is only a date for the US and has no bearing on the european launch. In any case, hopefully it gets sent out sooner rather than later.

It might have something to do with fact that in the states the amazon store will be available for songs whereas that might not be the case in canada and the UK so the '0' model is the no-amazon-store model, and the '1' model is the amazon-store one.

Like most new higher end bravias, our Z series has an ethernet port in the back of it. I am wondering what can I use that for? can I hook it up to browse the net or can I access my network for example once I connect the tv to the network? I am sure someone would know, and any advice would be welcomed. thanks.

I am wondering if the march 9th date for a release is real, but the sony press release says spring 2009, and spring is technically march 21st, which date should we go by? I guess my question is, have there been any other instances where sony has specified a release date say spring or summer but the device came out earlier?

I don't think this would work with our Z series but at a price of 50000yen or 640ish canadian, it is not worth the money.

Great overview and review, 240 gigs is always a nice thing to have but hdd can fail so I myself want a flash camera, and am waiting for the new flash sony cams and the new flash cams from canon, and will compare price vs function. It will have to be HD since I have a hdtv and I can't go back to SD. hdmi on the new sonys is a plus, not sure the canon's have that.

thing is, his model is drag and drop and no sonicstage whereas your's was with sonicstage and probably a bit different firmware for transfering.

I don't think it would damage the player if the pc turned off, unless you are transfering over new files, which might corrupt the database or just not work in the player and the database would be fine.

People have said it is good, I have no seen it myself, so I can't judge it. But I did recently see body of lies with leo dicaprio and liked it alot, great action flick.

ouch, that is not cheap, even at 265 pounds, it comes out to 485 canadian and then add shipping to that and even possible duties, I think I would be better off buying the X series here. with taxes the 32gig x should be around 445 here in canada, so I think I will wait for it to be released here.

I am curious, what is the current price of the ipod touch in england? 16 and 32 gig flavours? or for that matter in other parts of europe? the 16 gig model retails for 299, whereas the 32 gig model online can be found for 399.

thanks for the info juli, I am wondering if that photo on it of madagascar 2 has any connection to the dvd release which is in early feb? my guess it is not I guess my earlier estimates of 50mm width was correct.

I'll probably still call it my walkman, and nothing anything else, if people want to know the name of it, then walkman X, or if they want me to be really specific, walkman x series. otherwise it is still a walkman. If the march 9th date of a release for europe is true, it will be interesting to see how well the debut goes down, and if and any new features are mentioned that we don't know already about. I am curious which chip or cpu that sony has decided to use in the new walkman, hopefully something recent that can be modded for divx and flac support.

why sony didn't make the new walkman look like that is beyond me, it would have been a clear winner and would have blown people away. It does hark back to the older A1000/3000 series and hopefully the screen is good enough on the prototype that it can be viewed outside.
